  • British Petroleum is one of the worst offenders when it comes to safety there plants and platforms are constantly in violations

  • الزبـــده في الدقيقـــه 37:25 لان الفيلــم طويــل ومايحتــاج نتابــع التحقيقــات اللــي فـي البدايــه

  • Advertising!

    Thumbs down.

  • terribly sorry for what those people

  • its all about the money (greed) how much can i get screw the people are in the billions and can replace our workforce easy, so what if few of them die .... boo hoo send them a few hundred and move on making thousands

  • If you think THIS is scathing, wait until you see the official government report... watch?v=XuJtdQOU_Z4

  • @Kohdok The USCSB's whole video is basically a 55-minute tirade saying: "BP is run by a bunch of profiteering idiots who don't care about the safety of their workers or the surrounding environment."

  • WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET JUSTICE folks? DO we need to call our US MILITARY to go get the $CUM who control BP & just put them in a military tribunal? WHY NOT?? THEY HAVE KILLED more Americans than than ANY terror enemy since 9-11..!!!

  • No surprise that the BP name is mud in those parts, makes me feel ashamed to be from the same country as BP :(

  • i live in texas city and i stay at this lovely hotel named crystal suites 406 highway 146 just about 70 meters of the expolision the refinery is only 1:30 min. away i was just employed and now there selling it.

  • 16:13 No your guardian angel wasn't with you, she was on her break munching sandwiches because she had no accidents all week then boom she wasn't with you and you got burnt and your back broke. What a load of tat this religious talk is, especially from refinery workers

  • BP has been such a fucking corrupted pain in the ass in North America... All these disasters in 2005 and they keep saying "Oh we have addressed the problems." then the BP oil rig in the gulf in 2009 also explodes... this company needs to be shut down with all its rich greedy CEOs that are getting money off of energy at the expense of hard working peoples lives.

  • @Voss2120 Notice how after the initial investigation they just fired the poor bastard who hit the switch and his supervisor for cause...even though they were told "this is the way it's done" by BP execs..."we have addressed the problems and fired the employees...problem solved" Love corporate thinking...

  • Hmmm... How much are going to bet the driver of the white pick-up truck was a former BP employee, who got pissed at the company for some reason and used his knowledge of the refinery to sabotage it and make it look like a freak accident?

  • i remember we were taught about this exact disaster and the design flaw in one of our lectures in university

  • This is one of the most negligent accidents ever. It disgusts safety commissions all over the world. Always remember how evil BP is. They can never be trusted, never.

  • @supramanz you think thats bad check out seconds from disaster in india a pesticide company leaked MCI the reason was the company runned by india cut corners that cost the lives of 3000 people including women, children and elderly

  • @Texan2525 You mean the Bhopal Gas Disaster. FYI, 20 YEARS LATER, the contamination still hasn't been cleaned up by Union Carbide, who owned the factory, nor by Dow Chemical, who bought Union Carbide. The contamination is still poisoning the wildlife, the people, and crops. Many people are getting various cancers and many Indians don't want to start a family with people who live near Bhopal, because they're afraid they and their children will get cancer.

  • i'm an environmental health student, and this proves my theory. you can legisalate all you want, but if the people or company ingnore you , its meaning less. safety procudures and alarms are here fore a reason , don't just ignor them.

  • ive worked in plenty of refineries and i can honestly say this... no one cares about safety ....its all fun and games until someone gets hurt....

  • Blind ill informed prejudice!

Union Carbide = 11,000 dead in one event , Bhopal 1984

Occidental petroleum = 168 dead one event Piper Alpha

Exxon Valdez = 750000 bbls of oil spilled.

All the above events have one thing in common and nothing to do with BP. Dosen't let BP off the hook but they are by no means exclusive.

BP has absorbed Amoco and Arco both american companies with american employees and contractors. Leave the UK out of it, its not part of the problem on this occassion.

  • 3:00 Ian McKellen!

  • A WEEK without accidents?? And they get LUNCH?? WTF???!

  • @all1357 can you not hear they said they were BOUGHT lunch for not having an accident for a week of course they have lunch dipshit get a hearing aid

  • @all1357 ROFL! I know! *This* is something to be proud of??

  • Can you request a Machine Transcription for this video? I'm deaf and would like to be able to watch it with some captions.

  • Why are so many change wrote in blood?

  • @PaulPH9 IDK? It may mean some lives where lost becuse the change was not made before.

  • @PaulPH9 thats the way its always been. someone has to die before anything is changed.

  • A plant makes 6 million USD a day and they tell it to cut costs?!

  • I lived probably 20 miles from this when it happened. Very sad day. Yeah, BP really changed their corporate culture...

  • Did anyone notice that the work area they show the accident happened was "Sector 7G"? (the DC investigator pulls it up on the computer) Certainly fictional,.. that is where Homer Simpson works at the horribly maintained nuclear plant.

  • They celebrated 1 week from no accident it should be one year!

  • The hypocrisy of some (Not all) Americans astounds me.

It's true that BP have killed some people and caused pollution, but American companies are not perfect either.

Some of you should research Piper Alpha. This was in Britain, caused by an American company, but this didn't kill 15 people (or 11), it killed 168. Occidental Petroleum aren't condemned like BP are. Why is that?

I'm not defending BP here, but many companies have hurt people, not just the ones with British in their (old) names.

  • Actually thinking more about it now. That shit flowing out of that tower would've been almost pure octane and that engine would've gone spastic maybe even to the point of self destruction.

  • If a car sucks in too much fuel it will backfire through the carby or the EFI intake oxygen sensor goes nuts ,engine revs to red line back fires due to EMC regulating over revving therefore creates an electrical break down to save engine parts.Theres your spark.

  • WHAT! is up with you people, do you always spit on people's beliefs after loseing love ones being injured and near death!! dam trolls SHAME ON YOU HAVE A HEART BE HUMAN!!

  • My God, BP is terrible.

  • I like how americans think muslims are radical, and yet they associate god with about everything that happens..god did this for me, god gave me this gift, thanks to god I´m still alive..americans are radical as shit themselves..BLEEGH >.<

  • @squiersjonneman well the super religious americans anyway..

  • ..... @get1modernwarfare2 why is your spelling of "coffee" spelled as "cofee".

  • Wait wait wait wait wait, why didn't anybody stop the engine of the pickup truck or even noticed it??? Weird.

  • I wonder why that guy ignored the warning. Even though it was shortcut and worked many times, they shouldn't do so or disaster may strike.

  • I guess that the person who left his pickup truck behind is a terrorist. No one would leave an engine running for this long in a pickup truck unless there's a reason

  • also i wonder how the people down in texas city felt about BP after the oil rig explosion

  • he mentiond the truck was carbourated. its fuel injected *-_-

  • What's astonishing is that there are people inside of the trailer who SURVIVED the explosion. The ones facing towards the blast zone survived, while those with their backs turned did not.

  • Carburetor hell you can not cause a gas engine to race by feeding to it a fuel rich air all that will do is richen the mixture and flood or stall the engine. My Diesel will race if I squirt propane in the air intake and Diesels do not have carburetors.

  • @calif92627 according to wikipedia the guys engine had a safety feature that prevents it starting if its in an atmosphere containing a dangerous amount of hydro-carbons... Too rich would cause it to flood or run so rich it wont idle properly... a fuel injected engine might even be shut down by its ECU on an extremely rich mixture. The rich mix would also crud the spark plugs up badly, in turn stalling the engine.

  • BP has been a cancer upon the earth since their founding in 1904.

  • Worst thing to think about is that Deep Horizon happened just a few years later

  • the most profitable industry the world has ever seen and most likely ever will see, and still they want more profit and are willing to kill for it.

  • "It's been a week without accidents, and as a rewards for that safety record management buys them lunch" Oh how i'd love to work there xD

  • Youtube should allow longer comments, now i had to take away a lot of stuff from my comment

  • This was human error but because BP isn't a US company they blame BP. If this would happen on a US company they would blame the workers! Is it BP's fault that the driver parked the truck there? Is it BP's fault that the crew took a shortcut and the manager left? Of course BP could prevent this but if you watch it from that point you can prevent every disaster because they you can make a system to warn for different things, if blame BP you should blame a lot of other companies for disasters!

  • Parked, & abandoned White truck under Blowdown Stack = TERRORIST attack!

  • I hate when people survive something they say its there gurdian angel, what about the people who got killed in the same event? their gurdian angels where on a cofee break or something?

  • @get1modernwarfare2 ppl die when it is there time to go so please go to hell for me for your comment =).

  • @get1modernwarfare2 <--- Nooo. The people who didnt make it... were simply at the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

  • @get1modernwarfare2 When your time is up, it's up an nothing will stop it. It is just the way things are, there are guardian angels I know it for a fact. What will be will be no matter what!

  • @get1modernwarfare2 Yeah i know even though it happened at the same time and place.

  • @get1modernwarfare2

ha, ha, ha.... you're funny! very good point. Maybe their guardian angel took a trip to Hawaii.

  • @get1modernwarfare2 Hate is a wrongly chosen word

  • @get1modernwarfare2 *sigh* I know people don't mean to be rude or unfeeling, but ... yeah.. The same with people who say survivors "must have had God on [their or my] side." Um ... I know you're grateful to be alive but ... what does that say about the people who died? God was snubbing them?

  • @MrsNorris55 It was their time and the LORD was calling them home.

  • @get1modernwarfare2 Usually people who say shit like that do so because they are self-entitled,christian-types where the world revolves around them. But everybody else? A sinner,a non-believer,or some other type of human being they dont approve of.They ain't foolin' anyone with that self-important attitude.

  • f u BP

  • As much as I want to hate BP like everyone else, the CEOs and higher-ups weren't the only ones screwing up. Whoever was running that particular facility as letting his employees get away with murder. Obviously, if turning off the warning was against regulations, that's going against whatever BP put into action. So while BP's blatant disregard for human life is disgusting, so is trying to shove the entire blame into the 'big bag corporation'. Both parties screwed up, here.

  • BP should go to hell who's with me

  • @joxi23 not me.

  • @joxi23 I definetley am. The fact that they're even in business at all is a travesty of justice.

  • BP's reputation and credibility are really low... easily reaching a top ten of the worst companies ever.

  • @jbkm22 Exxon Mobil is no better, to be honest

  • So why was the pickup truck there? the programme didn't explain.

  • @TheBoBepisodes it was a ghost truck

  • it seems like all BP cares about is money and uses free lunch to keep them there

  • Unrelated: BPs Wild Bean cafe make nice coffees ;D

  • BP is Filled with 100% ASSHOLES!

  • Bp should be drawn and quarted both literally for their ceo's and figurativily by chopping up their company and selling it to the winds of finance.

I would say if you believe in evil as a force, they would be one of the evilest companies in the world.

  • Haha total overhaul of global operations my ass! Please BP, take your fucking oil and go back to the UK before you pollute more of America's waters, cause more damage to the US economy, and kill more hardworking Americans.

  • @SirSnives BP (British Petroleum) is owned 40% by UK individuals, pension funds etc and 39% by US interests. Secondly one easy way of solving the problem:

The US should use a lot less oil.

  • @davidneibig

Not "British Petroleum". BP became a trademark when it merged with US giant Amoco in 1998. It has stood for "Beyond Petroleum", among other things, since then. But NOT "British" Petroleum. You Americans (including the makers of this documentary) really need to check your facts before you start slinging mud. And that includes your anti-British president.

  • @ludocrat "Beyond Petroleum" is merely a tagline - an advertising slogan if you will. It is NOT the company's name, never has been, and was never intended to be.

Hopefully your murderous CEO Tony Hayward can get his precious life back, since BP's habit of killing American workers for sport in the interest of the almighty profit isn't all that well-received anymore. It took an American president with a spine to get you Brits to finally grasp that notion.

  • @elophan10538

Yup, there it is. Blind American prejudice combined with a total absence of a sense of responsibility all in one, neat package. Funny how these accidents only seem to happen Stateside, and strange how there's some US-owned and staffed, substandard subcontractor is always directly involved in them. Not that you would give a shit - it's "all the Brits'" faults, after all. The more I hear this kind of nonsense, the less hope I have for US survival. How's the economy, btw? Booming?

  • @ludocrat Obviously, the only economy you give a shit about are your dividend checks from your BP holdings. Keep defending your empire and sticking up for the murderers.

BTW, which dead child's cell phone is your media hacking into this week?

  • @elophan10538

Weaker and weaker. All you deal in is wild smears and blind prejudice when it suits your particular agenda.

A bit like your idiot president.

My word your country is in trouble if corrupt, mindless lightweights like you are the majority there now. Big trouble. Wait and see.

  • @ludocrat Is that the best you can do - nothing but personal attacks? My, my! Must have hit a nerve calling bullshit on your art of profiting from the pennies of a dead man's eyes.

Would you like us to send George Bush over so you can polish his knob in person? Or would you like to wait until your adulation for your inbred royal family subsides a bit.

  • idiots...

  • BP: the name you've come to trust when it comes to horrifying industrial disasters

  • Thanks for this video, and the rest of of your videos =] I like to watch them before/as I fall asleep.
