@knockout1018...We're based in the Madisonville area, about 1/2 way between Houston and Dallas. All of our hunts are low-fence and open range....no canned hunts here. We're currently hunting on about 60,000 acres in Madison and surrounding counties.
@Wade4QB ....and I'm sure you're basing that opinion on years of experience pertaining to feral hogs and the damage that this invasive species causes.....not just some un-informed, tree-hugger-inspired propaganda!
But hey...this is a free country and you're welcome to your opinion. I personally don't agree with it, but, after all, I'm stupid, right? I prefer to pay more attention to the opinions of the farmers and ranchers who appreciate the impact we're having on the hog population.
@TacticalHogControl He sounds like a guy that needs to go a few days with out food, If farmers and ranchers cant produce it he cant eat it !!! America cheapest most avalable food recource in the world and they still complain.
@eezerik ....We cover about 25 miles of ranch roads every night. We use the goggles to see while driving and during walking stalks. When we get close enough to the hogs, the goggles are flipped-up and that's where the night scopes and thermal weapon sights take over.
@RamsesHarrysson....try googling "feral hog problem" or "feral hog damage" and educate yourself on the problem before you start hugging trees. Here in Tennessee you can't get your beans in the ground good before they have been rooted up. Arkansas is having the same problem in their rice fields. This is the same type of situation as the killer bees, nutria, the snakehead fish, etc. These type of hogs are domestics gone wild in most cases, not javelina or razorback which are native.
Okay... this is getting almost funny! "Farmers lost their profits..." "MILLIONS of dollars of damage every year" "financial impact"
We have here few business-mans and few of their friends (with rifles obviously!)
In Estonia yes we have wild hog problems , but here i believe people respect more the nature than in U.S. When farmers have problems whit wildhogs then firstly they invest in fences and stuff like this - not in a ways to kill and destroy everything thats bothering.
@RamsesHarrysson OK...This is getting out of hand. I respect your opinion. Whether you respect mine isn't something I can control....but you obviously dont understand the scale of the problem. The United States is a BIG place. Feral hogs are present in approx. 40 of the 50 states. Texas, alone, is over 15 times the size of Estonia, so fencing is cost-prohibitive (or we would have one at the border, to keep out more than hogs.)
I find it disgusting that people see everything in "how much money" is this or that is worth. Maybe if you kill all wild nature around you (because thats useless & bothering thing) maybe then you could finally make some real BIIGG Profits? Or another financial advice - sell your YouTube Account in eBay and you get profit and hopefully there will be little less foolish comments / videos in future!!!
@RamsesHarrysson Hogs are not native species. Not only do they kill farmers profits but also eat/root up veg for the native species. Like the others said, this is a business for control.
WINSTON4747 & RADIOACTIVEBUNY - before you calling someone "dumbass" & "bitch" (maybe this is your home language, i don't know) Yes i've shot wild hogs few times (.338 Lapua Magnum - from Finland) and they did'nt ask for another round. It was one shot - one kill. If someone saying about 4-5rounds per 1 hog... then they are using wrong round or is it time to retirement! Simple!
And 1,5 years ago I ended my 5 year contract whit French Foreign Legion (2REP Paratrooper), so I probably know when i'm talking about rifles and ammunition ... and yes - shooting a person is much uglier sight than shooting a hog! (trust me on this one, I know - missions in Djibouti, Africa)
Obviously RamsesHarrysson has never been attacked by an angry Hog what a dumbass, this isnt sport you fucking Idiot! These animals ruin crops for farmers wich translates to lost profits so you can take your 4th generation hunting and go fuck yourself bitch!
@WINSTON4747 if you have something against old vintage rifles, then it is your own personal tragedy or stupidity! That 4th generation rifle i was talking about is a rare Winchester early 1800's model from England and it was once owned by my great grandfather, and is now on a relict-status in our manor-house in Estonia. And yes its already worth probably more than You + your hopples education (if there is any) Go google yourself and have little-more respect on things like this!
My personal opinion - useless cowards! Why? Automatic rifles & night/thermal vision optics are never in good tradition in hunting. What would be next level? Laser guided stuff controlled in your bedroom tv screen? In my family I am a 4rd generation Hunter and watching those pussys (personal opinion) makes me angry!
First, those aren't automatic weapons...they are semi-autos. Second, this is more extermination than hunting. Feral hogs are responsible for MILLIONS of dollars of damage every year to our nation's farm and ranchlands. If that makes you angry, oh well.... if you are truly a 4th generation hunter, I think you would understand the financial impact that these pests have.....maybe not. My advice would be to do a little reading on the subject and then you can make an informed decision on the matter..
Yeh, not only that for every 10 hogs they kill there are 15 more that take thier place. As you can see in the video there is a serious over population
@RamsesHarrysson If you use bolt actions, you get less. It's called tactical hog CONTROL for a reason, dumbass. The object is to kill as many as possible in an attempt to put at least some kind of dent in the population. A bolt action would not allow for high numbers because (trust me on this one, I know) these guys can take 4-5 rounds before stopping.
wow thats awesome. What brand of nightscopes do you use. I cant afford generation of scope your using. Have you guys ever used a gen 1 by atn. If you have how good are they.
"I will soon be purchasing a SOCOM 2 and will use it to hunt the wild hogs! I'm studying alot on the subject of wild hogs and the SOCOM 2 and I will gladly murder the wild hogs when the time comes!"
@winnslaw You'd be ALOT better off with an affordable Win M94 or Marlin lever action in .44 or .357 and a .270 or better scoped bolt action. The .308 and 7.62 round ballistics is NOT OPTIMUM for close range (overpenetrate) or for stopping big hogs in their tracks. While a well placed round (any caliber inc .22 LR) is capable of killing any sized hog, loadings that produce higher energy at the point of impact tend to put meat in the freezer more often.
would you ever consider using the rem R-15 to take out sheep and goats. i recently bought this rifle but i dont think it has enough umf to take stuff down hard.
I have never hunted sheep or goats, so I don't have a valid opinion on the subject. But a well placed shot from a .223 will be effective on most north American game animals. Maybe not the most desirable caliber out there, but it is doable.
Thanks ! Yes, some of our rifles are suppressed. We've got a mix of Rock River and DPMS, chambered in .223, .308 and .243 WSSM, and topped with D-760's, 6x Raptors and PAS13 thermal weapon sights. Most of our hunts take place in Madison county and the surrounding area.(Brazos, Robertson, Leon, Houston, Walker and Grimes counties)...about 1/2 way between Houston and Dallas, along the I-45 corridor.
We don't use any dogs.....I've got buddies that do, but we don't. We specialize in guided night vision hog hunts, using rifles fitted with Gen III night vision and thermal weapon sights.... all of our clients are fitted with helmet mounted, aviator style, Gen III night vision goggles as well. You're not riding around in the dark. You'll see everything we see .....plus you'll get to shoot some really cool guns!
Nice Vid. Did you pick up the Raptor before it was a restricted item? I hunt somewhat similiar to the way ya'll do, with a d-760 and pvs 14 helmet mounted with cans on my ar's. I spoke to you briefly at the hunting extravaganza but frogot to ask about the raptor.
Great job THC! With hog populations getting more out of control than ever, and not having the support required in each area, I appreciate your hard work and dedication! Keep it up!
Thanks ! If you're referring to the hunts, all you have to do is check out our website and we'll be glad to book a hunt for you. The video was shot with two different cameras....a Canon XL1 and a Sony Handycam....both with Astroscope night vision adapters on them. Pricey....but way cool!
