before you call it a dream place, i highly advise trying to live there for a couple weeks before moving "if you haven't already".  lived there for a year...it's not a city for everyone and not for me. if you love the outdoors, do NOT move to ny. just being honest. you may love it, but it's not like whats depicted in the movies.

i know what you mean, i've never been there, but i really want to, not because of the whole movie idea of it, i kinda like whole grimy angle too haha, plus i skate, and there's a great scene there. i live in manchester in the UK, and my uncle moved to san francisco a couple of years ago, and he says new york is really nice, aswell as SF obviously. i know what you mean tho, i wouldnt expect a movie experience

What do you mean its "not like whats depicted in the movies"? In every movie I've seen, they show the city as having tons of traffic, horns beeping, adventures through the city, etc...and I've lived in NYC my whole life and its exactly like that =p

Well, reality really strikes when the subway breaks down, or you smell the person's dirty armpits next to you, or that you really want to go mountain biking but know there's no mountains within reach. To each his own. I"m just saying, you sometimes find out what you like by being around things you don't like.
