  • anything associated with the pixies always has a good sound. its like the talking heads with the tom tom club

  • DAMN THE MAN!

  • this takes me back when renee zellweger was half decently hot

  • Ive been looking for this version of the song for like a month

  • I listened to this soundtrack constantly when it came out.Great music.

  • empire records, open till midnight, this is Mark :)

  • @MsBibblez

    midnight!

  • @MsBibblez

Empire records, open til midnight... MIDNIGHT!!!

  • @krisgesling I wonder if I can get the Rex Manning song, "mon amour"

  • " What's with you today? Yesterday you were normal, and today you're like the karate kid!"

  • still sticking to the eighties! never will there be another decade like that.

  • 90s music rocks! Kesha, Lady Gaga and any other whiny lame-ass singer/impostor should take note! Damn I miss Toad The Wet Sprocket!!

  • This movie was a bit lame, as far as the acting and plot. But the music was so unique, and endearing. The 90's had such deep, introspective music-Melrose Place, Pulp Fiction, and Empire Records were all great movie soundtracks.

  • @gravelandgrain100 Blasphemy!!! The lame movie part, lol. I concur with the deep, introspective music. I seriously don't understand why people voluntarily listen to 'singers' like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Kesha. I use the term singers loosely. Hell, Kesha whines and is autotuned in all of her songs.

  • @nessie531 for some reason thats just the way it is. its fucked and will never change so we just gotta listen to the good we got and drink some beer and deal with it

  • @nessie531 It just so happens i Love Kate perry shes got IT. trust me it comes from within her soul when she sings, i can't say much of the music itself being played. But i seem to dig it as well. My type of music is empire records whole soundtrack-the oldies songs(most of um)-& Joann osborn- MerridethBrainridge- Allanis Morrisett, and so on exta....

My point is sorry you dont like Kate Perry maybe you caould listen to her 1st cd that came out the song" I8 or 10 cant remimber"DANGER" ?"

  • I wanted to work in record store back then because of this movie. Lovely movie and song. They're my all-time favorites.

  • @ThanitOat Harmony House lol

  • This is all sorts of happiness. I miss the 90's and movies like this. :(

  • DAMN THE MAN!!! SAVE THE EMPIRE!!!!

  • Always loved this one. Still one of my personal favorite songs. :)

  • Definitely the most underrated movie of all time.

  • My name isn't fucking Warren. I just thought you might like to know. My family made me watch this when I was like, 7, and now It's like, my favorite movie. We all still go around saying damn the man, save the empire.

  • Omnipresent phrase in my mind,Spoken word I've said one million times

Who are you to tell me it'll always be this way,I close my eyes and I turn around

    And leave it all behind

So free for the moment,Lost somewhere between the earth and the sky

So free for the moment,Lost because I wanna be lost

    Don't try to find me

Always try to breeze through my life,Repetitious things I've done one million times

Who are you to tell me that I'll always be this way,I close my eyes and I turn around

  • Well said buddytree...I agree 100%

    Everything somehow had more meaning....

    DAMN THE MAN!!!!

  • Well this song is so good, I didn't know this song in the 90's but it reminds me of all the awesome memories I have of being a kid and the feelings associated with it.Its a shame that almost no one makes meaningful music anymore. Metal has gone to shit, grunge has been gone, punk rock went back underground. The 90's were like the 60's, completely full of innovation and new genres. Gen X makes Gen Y look like shit. Well at least the late 70's early 80's new wave sound is coming back.

  • @Deango2 there are tons an tons of amazing bands that play meaningful music now a days it's just hard to find cuz all the bullshit music gets the lime light and exposure. if your interested message me an i'll type you a list of some of the best modern day bands

  • Linda Maralli la mujer de Joe Santiago, pone una voz dulce pero creo que quiere imitar un poco a Kim Deal, aunque este grupo es mas pop que Breeders o Pixies. De todas formas grupo correcto y cancion bonita.

  • DAMN THE MAN SAY THE EMPIRE!!!

  • It's REX MANNING DAY !!!!!!! Say No More Mon Amour...

  • DAMN THE MAN

  • The Fat Man walks alone...

  • Every time this movie is on T.V. I watch it. So 90s, great music and movie of course. Miss the 90s.

  • This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I love this movie so much.. watch it more then 5 times and it still doesnt get old.. :) If anyone thinks the same. Please message me.

  • @Freebird5080 I think the same my freind amazing movie and amazing soundtrack

  • @Freebird5080 I resaw it again this evening. I still love this movie. DAMN THE MAN!! SAVE THE EMPIRE!!!!

  • @Freebird5080 I feel the same. Always one of my favs. When I was younger I felt like I wrote it myself.

  • @Freebird5080 One of my fave films too. Great cast, great songs.

  • I saw this with my girlfriend when it first came out. I had to go see it a second time so i could cry without anyone knowing. Really great movie. The only character i didn't like was the guy who was gonna profess his love for Liv. It got really annoying.

Besides that everyone, even Rex, was real cool! Great soundtrack, too! I wish there was a love button, not just like or dislike!

  • It was the best. Everything was unsure, but cool. Music was fantastic, and I slept on the floor of an apartment with my girl.

I delivered pizzas and had the most fun I've ever had in my life. No cell phones, text, ipods, GPS, even email. Driving a piece of crap car, hanging out with my friends in an old house, by school....it was so simple. I felt the pressure of not progressing.....and free for a moment

you could just disappear....then life found me....

    Damn the man! Save Empire

  • I Love you Liv!!!!

  • I miss the 90s too :(

  • BEST movie ever and great soundtrack.

Movies like this just don´t get made anymore.

  • can't wait til i'm truly free from two people's bullshit.

  • Damn....i miss this song and my fucking teenage years......

  • @sekzchan I;m building a time machine and going back to the 90s

  • i almost got to see this yesterday, i love this movie, it's been almost three years since i've seen this. It came out in 95'..an o.k year for me.

  • I was in Office Depot today and they played a somewhat faster version of this song.

  • oh yeah. what a song man! pop perfected so damn sparkly

  • love this ost of empire records! I just watched Empire Records last Sunday, April 25, 2010 on Jack TV. I love Empire Records when I was in college.... DAm the man, save the empire... Open til midnight!!

  • Okay, where I work (a major retail pet food chain) they play a version of this song, which is DEFINITELY not the same. Did the band record two different versions, or is there another band that does it. I can't find anything on the internet about it...

  • @savesanotherday this is the only version that I know of that the Martinis recorded. Sorry for having to listen to a shitty version at work!

  • Love the movie and Liv tyler..saw it back in 1995..Love this song..everytime i hear this..i do feel free. That is all i want.

  • Stop calling me Warren! My name's not Fu***in Warren!

  • His name isn't Warren.

    His name isn't Warren.

I thought his name was Warren?

  • @1jaishree i thought his name was Warren?

  • Why wasn't I born earlier? anyways I love this movie and soundtrack

  • The 90's rocked. Much better than the 80's.

  • Screw the '00s. I hope the next decade is half as good as the '90s.

  • damn straight.

  • @buddytyree Amen.

  • not a chance, especially where I live, evth is house this house that, 90s are gone forever, RIP good music

  • not gonna happen (im surrounded by house freaks) but hope never dies

  • @buddytyree the only good music from the 00s was the revitalization of metal

  • @buddytyree I miss the 90s

  • tell me about it. the 90's fucking rocked.

  • @buddytyree Not lookin' that wa, man. I wish I could have at least been a teen in the '90s! I have to be one fucking now, IT SUCKS!!

  • And for those of you who dont know, The Martinis are Joey S from The Pixies and his wife Linda. The style of the song sounds a little Pixies-ish too.

  • Comment removed

  • @exquisitevamp1 that because their guitarist is the guitarist from the pixies. its him and his wife.

  • i love that movie so much

  • Yeah I love it too. Although i think you pretty much had to see it as a kid when it was out or you were a young adult when it was out (which you probably are). I also love Slacker, Clerks, Dazed And Confused and National Lampoons Senior Trip *SO UNDERRATED* the same way. I thought the 90s was a far better decade for music and pop culture than the current crap going on. For both rock and rap, to me anyways the 90s were just a far more innovative original decade of music.

  • you did have hair when you went in there...

..yeah, it's still in the sink if you wanna glue it

  • SHOPLIFTEEEEEEEEER!!!!!!

  • "You'll all be sorrryyy!" XD

    Best. Movie. Ever.

  • i was living in wilmington NC when they filmed this there. lots of my friends worked on the film

  • That's awesome. This was my favorite movie as a kid, so I always looked forward to growing up and working in a record store, but now everyone's got iPods, so all the local music stores shut down.

  • its one of my favorite movies. Same thing about the record store thing. I hope and pray people will go back to cd's and vinyls and cassetes someday!

  • this movie kicked ass

  • always play with their minds

  • damn the man!

  • save the empire!

  • love the 90s

  • i kno:)

  • oh 90´s =)

  • the good ole days.....sigh...
