  • Do your instruments still work properly?

  • @stainless1911 Unfortunately the tach doesn't work. The rest are fine though.

  • was there any work needed to be done to the wiring when making the swap

  • damn that things loud man lol

  • dislike only cuz the camera is so crappy you cant hear how it really sounds! awesome car though. id like to see it again with good sound quality

  • Im pretty sure your camaro just woke up my neighbors :)

  • like the car, hate the sound quality of the video camera

  • i bet you suprise people in that. guys with real ls1 cars think they got a easy kill till they find themselves chasing your tailights! lol cam it next!

  • @BLACKLACDTS Haha yeah it can be a sleeper sometimes.

I've been wanting to do a h/c swap for a while.. along with a ton of other stuff

  • @jonny95ls1 the heads are not to bad on the ls1 all you need is a cam and the suppoting mods like springs and all and it should be able to run mid to high 11s all motor.

  • where did you get the hood? i have the same style from trufiber.

    how much was the swap?

  • @willymywonka I got mine used.. But it is a functional air intake hood, so it could be a trufiber.

I don't know exactly, but probably around 10K after it was all done(engine, trans, body, paint, mods). I'm planning on doing another swap sometime, and I'll make sure and do a better job keeping a record of it all.

  • @jonny95ls1 this car is PERFECT. the exact wheels i want and everything. I love a clean example of a beast.

looks like it would come this way from the factory, but by no means look harmless.

if it's trufiber then underneath on the right side it will have a metal plate that says trufiber.

Did you do the swap yourselve? did you do a k member with ls1 motor mounts? how did you do it?

  • Was it alot to do to switch it over im about to go pick up a LS1 for my 95 camaro. I sure could use some info...

  • @jinwest979 Nice!

I can help you with some stuff but I'm not a mechanic or anything..

There are some great forums out there that could probably be more help than me though.

  • @jonny95ls1 well i see u live in texas also so maybe i could use some of your pointers!

  • @jinwest979 I recently moved to boston, ma. actually. Where in texas are you?

  • i bet you give some ppl a surprise when they think you got a LT lol

  • dang thats a fuckin nice ls1 now ahahahhaha i hav a 96 z28 n im gonna swap the transmission

for 6 spd its boring driving an automatic thers no fun

    but anyways nice job dude

i wonder if mine is ever going to sound like yours

  • @rid3r28 You don't have a 6sp automatic.

  • @Quatermain98526 Doesn't matter. I have the 4spd auto with overdrive. I have clocked it, 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. Just as fast as the 6spd auto from the same year. If I did exhaust, intake, gears, and a tune, I could run 0-60 in about 4.7, or better...that would be more than the 2010 Camaro SS.

  • I've never heard an LS engine that I don't like.

  • can you use the lt1 wiring harness with the ls1?

  • How much better do you like the LS1 over the LT1?

  • @Quatermain98526 All around, a lot better.

  • @jonny95ls1 That's cool, glad to hear it. I've got the LS1 myself...almost bought an LT1 Camaro, had a lot less miles, think I made the right choice going with the LS1 though.

  • @Quatermain98526 Both engines are awesome for sure!

  • @Quatermain98526, ls1 overall is a better looking engine.. more horsepower, more torque, lighter weight.. But the LT1 is a iron block, which means it can withstand boosted conditions alot easier, and is more reliable then the aluminum block of the ls1

  • @amyntage I never plan on boosting my engine. Iron or aluminum, it's harder on the engine and transmission. With less than $1,000 in mild mods the LS1 Camaro can keep up with the 2010 Camaro SS, that's good enough for me.

  • @Quatermain98526 the ls1 camaros can keep up with the new camaro with just a good driver and a tune. which is about $400 and well the driving parts is up to you. a good driver in a 6 speed clutch ls1 camaro with a tune should have no problem runnin high 12s which is about where the new ss is. i seen a bone stock 02 ss camaro at the track in 02 runnin 13.20s all night on street tires and the guy wasnt shiftin like he should. with drag radials and a tune it should go 12.90s at least!

  • did you computor tune it be sure to u wont regreat it

  • i wanted to swap out the my 98 camaros v6 engine and tranny with an ls1 and 6 speed transmission (its an auto right now) how hard would that be

  • @glpc5099 why dont u jst get an ls 1

  • holy shit batman!!! it sounds like you did the swap right compared to what i've seen in other videos. what was in ther before, the LT1?

  • @MexiCancerIII Thanks! Yeah it was an LT1.

  • How long did it take you to tweak out everything? Or did you get it right the first time? New motor mounts, wiring harness... what else?

  • @jonny95ls1 You sure? I didnt see the z28 badge on the rear. I sort of see something on the fenders but they look like they say SS and the SS didnt come out until 96. awesome ride though

  • @warmachine1983

    it came out in 95

  • @rid3r28 96

  • how i can get the ehxaust sound like that?

  • @SuperVAIK The exhaust set up in this video was SLP long tubes, high flow cats, 3" Y-pipe, open cutout, and a flowmaster muffler.

  • nice car i would love to do this kind of swap, was the install difficult?

  • @white96lt1 It's not easy, but it's worth it in my opinion.

  • not at the moment i dont have a camera but im fixing it cause it had a grip of problems like the dash was messed up, which i just replaced yesterday..i want to do everything myself..little by little im getting it done im in a buget...but as soon as i get a video ill show it to u...where do u live?..like state?

  • @camilo19201920 It definitely looks like you take good care of your car! I'm in the north Austin area, Tx.

  • @jonny95ls1 thanx man..yea im trying to make her more good looking..she has low miles to..

  • hey i know its a stupid question but what kinda mpg's do u get with this if u drive it nice lol

  • @psykho15 I've averaged around 22 with easy city/highway driving.

  • dont get me wrong your that ls1 swap is cool but for 10k you could have built a killer lt1...plus lt1 tend to have a stronger block...but way to go man...drop the car a little more...more auro danam

  • i actually got a 97 camaro 30th anver. camaro real with the z4c tag...fo 1400 n its wierd cause i beat my friends ls1 ss..he has an 02 maro...

  • @camilo19201920 You got any videos of your camaro?

  • @i posted a vid of my maro..take a look at it and tell me what you think

  • i cant wait till i get my camaro =[

  • some dude was gonna junk his. 95 camaro.... me and my steppdad takin it for a few hundred bucks.. then It's gonna be mine actually... woohoo (:

  • sounds like you got a good deal on that!

  • this thing is amazing. i got a v6 cuz its all i can afford on my insurance but soon enough ima build a beast jus like this, maybe a third gen

  • thanks man! good luck with your car.

  • holy shit dude its a monster i would like to do the same with my 93 z28 but im short on cash

  • i like the sound of the lt1s alot better even though this is a beast

  • what about the wiring... is the ls1 wiring compatible with the lt1 wiring connections?

  • Damn, sounds like a monster, very nice job, camaro 4 life :D

  • did you do the swap yourself?

  • No, not all of the swap.

I plan on doing another swap myself though when I get a garage.

  • how'd you do it with the motor mounts?

  • You have to get LS1 motor mounts for the swap.

  • thats a sweet car, its sitting up high and proud nice

  • DAMN! I have a 95' and would love to do the swap also! It'd take a lot work though!

  • @Ivrn699 u and I have the same goal.let's make it happen!

  • Wow, that thing sounds badass.

I heard LT1 to LS1 swaps are really hard. How much did you spend and how long did it take you to do it?

  • Thanks!

Around $10K and over a year.

  • Why didn't you buy an LS1 powered car though?

  • I found this camaro for a great deal that I couldn't pass up, and I like the look of the '93-'97 models.

  • Oh all the way man, I own a 94 myself. Definitely looks a lot better then the 98+. I really wish I had the LS1 so I wouldn't have to empty my pocket everyday at the gas station.

For $10K though...I'd buy a 98+ and retro fit the front so it'd look like a 93-97. Anyways you definitely set an example that shit can be done and if you post what you did on the forums it'll be helping a whole lotta people out with their swaps.
