Great cover! Just wondering Jim, with the capo on the second fret thing on this and Mississippi- are you just going with what sounds right to your ears, or is there actually a way to work out where to put the capo given how deep ones voice is (sorry I don’t know any theory)?
@JohnnyCasper1 Don't apologise Johnny - always glad to help if I can. No hard & fast rules - put capo where it best suits you. I try to go with same position as original Dylan recordings, but not always suited; I think it's a bit high for me on this song for example. Another factor for me is - Do I have a harmonica in that key? Some folks say they sing in a particular key, or can't sing in another - it's nonsense, as it depends on both the individual song or singer's range.
Great cover Jim. Been doing this with just simple G C Em D progression so am looking forward to taking it up a notch or two or three..... ha ha with your great tutorial. Thanks so much for all the wonderful help. No doubt soon you will be singing those lovely carols up around your way. Thanks Jim as always and all the best for the festive season.
Life with Dylan has been a roller-coaster of emotional high's & low's. This song takes me back to 'One Too Many Mornings' & 'Hollis Brown'; it has the same feel. It brought comfort to me when i too was feeling all ragged and burnt out.
Thanks very much - I'd put it right on the back burner, as I felt there wasn't much interest in this song, but I'll get to it shortly and let you know when it's done.
very, very nice singing and playing. your guitar picking is smooth and even and accented with a touching quality on this most gorgeous song. your version has a understated quality which is perfect . looking foreward to your tutorial on this piece. elliott
You really captured the feel of Dylan's best acoustic style. I love this and Girl from North Country. Nice vocals too!
