We need to organize another boycott. You have 300 views. You would have to be one of the people, also making a supporting video. Will have 4,000 boycotting the site. A boycott means no signing on to you tube. Clicking on the site, any emails from You tube. Not using the google search engine what so ever. Use the yahoo search engine during the time we have a boycott in effect.
VloggerHeads may not be 100% safe, but you will not be harassed there like you will here on YouTube. Being a moderator there, I feel we do a darned good job at taking out the trash when we need too. If someone says to us that they are being harassed by haters, we investigate, and we warn the offending party. If they keep it up, will escort them to the door. How often does YT do that? How often does even reply to your complaints?
I gave up m allegiance to this site eight months ago and have never looked back. Sure I miss my friends here, and I do pop on from time to time to catch up with them, but for me, VloggerHeads is home now.
Youtube has been getting worse for a year, but the last month it has become nearly useless. It's getting harder to find any independent videos in the main news section, it's all paid programming.
None of this surprises, except, perhaps, that it's taken so long. As Tom G said, it became inevitable by the number of 0's in that buyout from Google. And, as many others have said, there goes the You in YouTube.
If there's an uproar here - and if they pay attention to it - perhaps it won't be as bad as that article makes it look. But that's a huge IF.

Yes I don't know Peter. I'm hearing some users are being banned because they are a bit controversial This would align with the idea of "toning down" the site to make it more commercially acceptable. I've heard others say larger media doesn't like showing videos next to "user base" videos here..
Anyone remember when the most discussed was actually just people doing vlogs. Now it's just filled with crap, every other video has the word fail in it. Just give me a block channel feature for the most discussed where if I block someone another channel takes its place in the most discussed. A vlogger tab would be nice also. It's possible these things are on youtube already but I kind of doubt that. Youtube just needs to give the vloggers a niche area for easy access to new and old vloggers.
I am sure there are many ways of making things better,like having specified Youtube to each user by his requests, which set of rules he wants to be using which rights will he get, more options more controls, more privacy, more abilities, more control who sees who has the right, maybe even closed zone for identified users only, no trolls there, no "new" users coming and going and bothering you.

I never see the YouTube front page. I go to my page and nav from there. I think I only saw the YouTube front page the first time I ever logged onto it.
As long as YouTube will still allow me to upload my videos and interact with the people here they can do whatever they want. Front page doesn't phase me other than the people I'm subbed to :)

Hulu seems to be a model that may work. It's basically providing "legitimate" content, licensed and all, for nothing. You have to watch annoying ads but that's TV right? We'll see how it goes. What keeps me here is the functionality more then anything but even that is getting less and less critical.

That article is probably based on profit margin.. they are talking about product that will make them money.. they are trying to compete with Hulu.. which is a bad idea.. Hulu is much better for professional content. I am not going anywhere.. I have made it thru all the stuff they have done in the past and I am sure I will make it thru this one.. Everyone screams and yells when they make changes yet.. most of us are still here ;)

I can't see my leaving YT altogether, as too many of my friends are here.
I shall wait & see what the re-vamp brings.
