For McCain to speak on the same night that Obama clinched the Democratic nomination showed a total lack of class. When he first was made aware of the idea (and whose dumb idea WAS it?) what he should have said was "No, it's Obama's night." Imagine the outrage if Obama had made a speech on the same night McCain clinched HIS nomination? Hannity, Limbaugh and O'Reilly would have been screaming their heads off. This was pathetic on so many levels. Tasteless, undignified and tacky.

Did you read the story in New York times about Republicans being very worried about McCain facing Obama? Just look at CNN,MSNBC,FOX News. As far as ratings the majority of news is about Obama. Thats why McCain wants to do the townhall debates. He needs Obamas shine to get news & it will help save him money. The fact is I think McCains team knows they will have a slim chance beating Obama. Obama is battle tested thanks to Hillary & ready to move his juggernaut campaign into the general election!

McCain's speech was very uninspiring at best. I actually felt sorry for him. He was very stiff, uncomfortable, and seemed to smile on cue. It was like watching a bad actor read off lines he's never seen before. McCain has served our country for many years (whether I agree with his policies or not), and we should respect that, but honestly, that was a horrible speech and I agree with Toobin here.

I'm not a democrat or a republican, but that really was one of the worst speeches I've ever heard. The main problem with it (for those of you whom didn't see it) was McCain looked like an alien in human skin. His body gestures were bizarre as he kept trying to read a teleprompter. Ok, maybe he's not good at giving speeches, but couldn't he atleast memorize one? Why does he look so uncomfortable in front of a crowd of his own supporters? He really gives me the creeps!
