@jacksobe If you take a look at my other video on this subject, you can see that my harmonic balancer on the crankshaft pulley had developed a good deal of wobble as well. It actually had to get much worse for GM to fix it under warranty, but they finally did once it was undeniable that something was seriously wrong as my engine sounded like a symphony of chirping birds under the hood! LOL!
@jacksobe Fortunately, it's been fine ever since. I have around 35k miles now and all is well with this particular issue. The consensus, and my suggestion to you if you're going to replace your harmonic balancer out of pocket is to go with a after market one. Good luck!
After having the belts replaced *TWICE* by GM in attempt to fix my problem which really was only a bandaid fix as the problem never really fully went away, they finally admitted that it was a bad crank pulley/harmonic balancer and replaced it; now my car is running properly! It's been a LONG time coming and I'm so happy to finally have a working car that doesn't sound like a bunch of birds are chirping under the hood!
There was a water pump leak that glazed the belt and caused the chirps. It was a long and hard battle with my local GM service department, but eventually a new water pump and belt was replaced under warranty. No more squeaky/chirpy noises... now the next problem is the shaky harmonic balancer. Check out my other video.
It sounds like the tensoner pully, I've heard them on both the Z and the base go bad. Won't hurt anything, but may casue some slippage. Sould be a warranty fix.
Sounds like my '07 Z51. The crankshaft pulley on mine looks bent, which I think is causing the problem.
