PT1 But we have no freedom of choice. Did I choose to write this message? No. The point is that I feel the urge to. Can I resist it? Apparently not as I am writing this right now. You see what I mean? It is decided by how one thinks and with what ones personality is mostly dragged towards.
If he is not able, then he is not all powerful as it defeats the very aspect of being all powerful. As such your god is not all powerful. Nor is he all loving as he lets it happen.
The freedom of choice is a powerful illusion, the most powerful one there is. It can "decide" life and death - left or right - cats or dogs. It is all determined by who you are. You think that you can choose, but you can't. It is already decided. Did you read this message? Why did you? Do you agree with what is being said? - If I were to guess - You do not agree because your position is to say "YOUR CHOICE." But who's right? I am. And that is just how it is.
How do you know everything is already decided, pre-determined?
How do you know that we don't have free will?
Where are the logical premises and conclusion?
Dogmatically stating something to be true doesn't make it so. Especially when our understanding regarding the truth or non-truth of he concept of free-will is quite limited.
2. Because our personality forces us to decide. Green or White? Pick whatever. Ok, so as soon as you saw this question, you decided for either Green, White, OR another color. Or you didn't pick one at all. Why? Because you look for something that either A: You like. B: An option in-between (because you didn't like the options). In a sense, you go with what you like the most, or suits the situation the best...
...So is it free will to go with what you like? No. That is also forced. Remember, if it suits you, you will go for it. Can you trick yourself by picking the different option? No. That is also forced. It is to force yourself to go against your will, as you understand, that is indeed also forced will, not free will. - I take it free will in your mind is to be able to do what you want, is an illusion. 2 options, 1 "choice" which has already been made.
we wory to much about being right or more right about donctrinal issues. In ecclesiastics it says " why do people work so hard", because they are jealous, (remember jealousy works both ways) they more than other people. This is explained more in ezekiel and in revelation about the image of or idol that the beast from the bottemless pitt ( freemasonry) gives to the germanies or the western societies, that causes the world to worship western socierty. the image of jealousy is portrayed!
@KJVWordfGod Um, friend....That's not true. We take off the garments to clean them and so on. And that bit about God isn't true to our beliefs either. As well, we follow the King James version of the bible. If you're going to bash a religion( and an actively benevolent one at that), please do some proper research.
The book of Moron is all I have to say. The Tailor are biting in Mandurah ,South West of Perth, Western Australia. Throw your net to the other side of the boat ,Peter..... WOOOOHOOOOOO!
I'll never understand the whole "Jesus is God" concept. "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do" is one of the most well known lines in the Bible. Why the heck would he be talking to himself? Do you believe in a lying, schizophrenic God? Explains what's wrong with a lot of Christians if so!
LDS way of believing Book of Mormon: "We dont need to 'find' proofs. Its already true"
It's circular reasoning fallacy. Simply assuming a claim is true does not serve as evidence for that claim. It's like saying:
"X is true. The evidence for this claim is that X is true"
There is no evidence for LDS, only circular reasoning and absolute unquestionable obedience, who cares about right and wrong? just obey?!?!. that's a cult!
There are two dudes in my area who are often on the bus. Both are dressed exactly like these guys with their nameplates identifying them as LDS agents. They creep me out.
@pmoyer50 Well mostly we come to convert your women and add them to our collection of wives. You see, we're preparing for the end of the world. If you look up pictures of the Provo temple you'll see that it looks a little like a rocket ship. Well wrong, it's only the tip of the rocket ship. The rest is underground. We're going to take all Mormons away to live on Kolob before the end of the world. Actually we're just normal dudes sharing what we believe.
@ichkanns1 Reorganized LDS members do not have more than one wife. They were taken to Supreme Court and about it and the church reorganized and removed that. Keep up with your facts and stop watching T.V.. and No, I'm not Mormon. I just READ.
@candimisaxx I am a Mormon and being sarcastic. That's why I said we're just normal people sharing our beliefs. Not only do reorganized (or community of christ) members not have more than one wife but unreorganized (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) members also do not. Only Mormon fundamentalists do, and they're pretty disorganized and spread out in different communities. I thought the space ship part would let people know that I was making fun of Mormon misconceptions.
@Meskiagkasher No they are not. They have likely had one or two years of college, speak a foreign language, and were star athletes in school. Stupid bigot.
@ThePsychicSasquatch if they had any education they'd not be adhering to an idiotic fabricated ideology made-up by a well-known fraud. these are just mentally retarded people. real human dirt.
All your comments are false! How can you say we have more faith in Joseph Smith then Heavenly Father? You don't know what we believe. I love my Heavenly Father and I have all faith in him. I want to return home to him and for those who think missionaries use the same scripts when they go out teaching are wrong. It's a difficult process to go door to door and you should just appreciate that we are trying to share the Full Gospel with you. So please don't bag on any religion because you have no r
@hungergamesfanful taking it that your mormon by the layout of your response. First off I'd like to say that we don't worship the same God. Your god is made up of flesh and bones who was another being from some other planet who followed that god's rules (dont deny this, that's mormon theology). The Christian God is spirit, and has existed from all eternity. Your jesus is spirit brother's with lucifer, my Jesus created lucifer and is God. What say you? =D
@25blue24 wow i totally agree with. we belive in the same thing that jesus is god and god is jesus. the whole moromon thing of them harrasing you trying to force you into their relgion is plain wrong cuz jesus said that he will be at the door waiting for you to open the door for him not there banging at your door and chasing you down the steets he wants you to decide for yourself if you belive, its your desicion but it comes with a big consequence.
@25blue24 Apparently he don't say much! lol He's probably washing his holy underwear...well, only half of it because they can never remove it all. They are supposed to shower with one foot outside the shower and one half of the underwear on. Meanwhile their god on the planet Kolab is having spirit babies with an eternally pregnant wife. The book of mormon is garbage. The Jesus Christ of the King James Bible is LORD....and none other.
What confuses me about this video is that AFTER he discovers the surveillance camera, the young man looks around (as if to see if anyone else is watching), looks back at the camera, and THEN fondles his privates. It SEEMS rather deliberate to me.
@yourallbrainwashed If you want to save your time from reading his comments, he basically says he read about Mormonism and converted in his early 20s. He doesn't answer exactly why he thinks faith is so important, or what spirituality is, or why he's religious, but he does at least admit that he believes on faith alone.
Mormons need to be stoned, some idiot mormons chased after because I said they were dumbasses out loud, they were ready to throw rocks at me but some neighborhood dog came out to bark at them, they ended up throwing the rocks at the dog and I went in my friends house for protection. These cunts think they can get away with that? I HOPE you have a mormon sticker on your car.
@tehkoalainsurgency Look at the dumb mother fucken pussy running up his friends vaginas for protection.its pussy's like you who cant back up their shit. you call me a dumbass in real life, and ill fuck u up like a dog chews on his toy.were u from bitch and i want u to call me a dumbass and ill kick ur ass so bad ull be in acoma for 2yrs.you deserve to be stoned for your stupidiness.and ur the unt u stupid bitch you got away with it but u cant ever back ur shit up.hope i find u
im still waiting for you to answer my previous questions, but anyways heres a few more...
why is faith so important to you, also why do you choose to believe without physical evidence?
what proof do you have to believe your religion is the right one opposed to any other religion?
does god perform miracles, and if so how do you know the difference between gods miracles and miracles by chance or luck? please give me your best explaination of what spirituallity means? also, why are you religious?
@yourallbrainwashed I'll try to answer these tomorrow--it's late and I have to go for tonight, won't be able to get back online till late tomorrow afternoon.
would you send your child to hell to burn forever if he didnt believe you were his parent?
what proof do you have to believe your religion is the right one opposed to any other religion? and faith isnt a good answer, Faith is inherently dishonest.
does god perform miracles, and if so how do you know the difference between gods miracles and miracles by chance or luck?
give me your best explaination of what spirituallity means?
@yourallbrainwashed Okay, I finally have a few minutes so let me answer at least what I can for now. Why is faith important to me? Well it never used to be; I was raised Episocopalian and never cared much about religion, it never made sense to me. I just plain didn't care one way or the other. I used to watch the singing Osmond family on TV and knew that they didn't smoke or drink or swear or use drugs or anything like that, and they seemed so SURE of their beliefs. When I was growing up
@yourallbrainwashed everybody smoked and drank, etc. I thought this is just what grownups did! Even I experimented briefly with alcohol and cigarettes in my youth. I did it to be bad and cool. But I stopped by the time I was 20 or so. I never did drink coffee or tea, though. Blech! Anyway, in my early 20's I sent away for a copy of The Book of Mormon through the Osmond fan club. I wanted to know what the Mormon church was about. Believe it or not, there was a time I made fun of Donny Osmond for
@BaneOfAzrael Tea and coffee are against our religion. In the LDS church we have The Word of Wisdom which we believe to be revelation from God saying that hot drinks (tea and coffee), alcohol, cigarettes, and illicit drugs like marijuana, etc. are not for the body. I never drank tea or coffee even before I joined the church. I never liked it, and always felt these drinks were for "grownups" and I never wanted to be a "grownup" in that sense of the word, where I consumed these kinds of drinks
@cindybin2001 Too bad, Tea is good for you. There are many different kinds.. What-about drinking it cold?
"I realized that if we don't give our kids things like tea” --> many children drink tea, especially in eastern and first nations cultures. Its good for them, in fact there are medicinal properties to some tea
" but the risks outweigh them” --> What exactly are these risks?
@BaneOfAzrael Yes I know that many studies say tea is good for you, and there probably are health benefits. But the risks far outweigh them. Also, as I said, we have what we believe to be direct revelation from God saying that this is not for the body (not even cold). There are chemicals and such in tea and coffee that are not good for you. But I never drank this stuff even before I became Mormon! Yuck!
@BaneOfAzrael Anyway, it just drives me nuts that I try to help people understand about the Word of Wisdom, and they reject it. They try to prove me wrong, point out studies regarding health benefits of these things, etc. When I was first investigating the LDS church, one of the things that ATTRACTED me to the church was The Word of Wisdom! And when I talk about it online I always hope that people will say, "Really? Wow! Tell me more! That sounds interesting!" But no, they just reject it.
@cindybin2001 "t. They try to prove me wrong” --> I’m not trying to prove you wrong, I’m trying to understand a rule that think is silly. I’m not an idiot, I’m not going to blindly accept things without trying to understand them. This is why I ask Questions. If I didn’t see this is interesting I wouldn’t have responded.
@BaneOfAzrael Well all I can say is talk to missionaries about this, visit the official church website, watch videos by Mormons who talk about this. You have to want to learn and understand. That's what I did when I was first investigating the Church. When I was growing up, everybody smoked and drank booze and drank coffee and tea. I thought that's just what you did as a grownup. But I knew it couldn't be right. That's one of the things that attracted me to the LDS church.
@BaneOfAzrael Not off the top of my head--I don't keep up with all that. But there are studies and such. We don't know all the risks. But we believe The Word of Wisdom and that it is there to help us physically and spiritually. Anyway, i'm sure there are others in the church who can tell you more about this than I can.
@cindybin2001 Well you see, this is an issue. Your claiming that something is potentially harmful. But you can’t point out any harmful aspect. This isn’t wisdom, this is taking something without perusing an understanding and repeating it. If you can’t point out a single risk, how then can you claim it is a problem?
I can’t believe that you were attracted by rules like this that you "knew it couldn't be right” because you would have tried to understand.
@BaneOfAzrael I said that you should talk to missionaries or someone else in the church who can help you with this. I don't have all the health risks on the top of my head. And as I said, there are many things about tea, coffee, etc. that we don't know, but we are advised to stay away from these for our own spiritual and physical health. We have to trust in the Lord with this.
@cindybin2001 You see the issue I have with your statements is the claims you make but cannot justify, and then twist around in your response. " I don't have all the health risks on the top of my head.” --> I asked you for one, not all, I said give me one reason.
"And as I said, there are many things about tea, coffee, etc. that we don't know” --> it sounds like you are kept ignorant. You have said its harmful, but cannot tell me why. You claim there is harmful chemicals, yet cannot name any.
@BaneOfAzrael As I said, talk to missionaries in the church, or someone else who is more "up" on this subject. We aren't "kept ignorant." The LDS church isn't trying to exercise "mind control". All they do is hypnotize us each Sunday. "You will not drink tea...you will not drink tea...there are no good reasons why, but even so, you will not drink tea..." I listen and I obey. HA!!!
@cindybin2001 Don’t you see the issue here? your not asking why. Your blindly putting your faith in the claims of others with something that is (to be frank) laughable. I was more than willing to listen to your reasons, after all you said that they were wise and you too once thought that the rules were silly. But I can only assume your lying or have been duped. "We have to trust in the Lord “ --> no this is a rather simple matter. Give me one reason, if you have none its superstition
@BaneOfAzrael Yes I have asked why. I'm just not "up" on all that at the moment. There's nothing secret or hidden, so please stop trying to make me look like a blind sheep following some wacky cult. I'm not like that at all.
@cindybin2001 "so please stop trying to make me look like a blind sheep following some wacky cult.” --> thats not my intent. You had mentioned that tea was harmful and that means you should have something to back up the claim. You claim to have asked why so I assume you have at least 1 reason you can name.
@cindybin2001 "just ask missionaries” -->I don’t think there are any in my area, but I’ll check the website out when i get the time, the lesson here is simply that you should have information ready when you make claims, if not it seems suspicious
@BaneOfAzrael Heck, just the other day my daughter-in-law was telling me some health risks about tea and coffee. I can't remember exactly what she said, I was preoccupied with small children at the time. But as I said, just ask missionaries, or go to the official LDS website. And hunt around for some videos on YOuTube, I'm sure there are some. DavidLory is a Mormon guy that has a lot of good videos on the church.
@cindybin2001 Cindy can you explain this to me? The writings that Mormons base this belief in does not in fact mention coffee OR tea, does it? It simply says, "hot beverages." So why don't you avoid ALL hot beverages? The church chooses to interpret this to mean coffee and tea and members of the church take it a step further and say it's referring to caffeine and thus, they refuse to drink any caffeinated drinks, such as cola, yet, again, originally, it just said HOT DRINKS. What gives?
@cindybin2001 On Mormon(dot)org there is the option to “talk” online to a missionary.
They essentially said that they avoid tea because of the caffeine content. Because caffeine can be addictive they don’t have it in their diets because of the potential to create an addiction, or lead to others. In a way, it could be considered a “gateway drink”. "It pertains to having control over our bodies, not our bodies controlling us”
@BaneOfAzrael Well there are other reasons besides the caffeine content. I do know that Mormons are allowed to use caffeine; we can eat chocolate or drink Mountain Dew, etc. But as I said, I always knew that coffee and tea weren't good for you, even before I joined the Church! If we don't give kids these drinks, then we as adults shouldn't drink them, either. But so many people are sheep, thinking they have to drink these things to be a grownup.
@cindybin2001 "Well there are other reasons besides the caffeine content.” --> According to the missionaries you sent me to talk to because you “are not ‘up' on all that at the moment.” It is just because of the caffeine content (and the rest as an optional symbolic gesture). Are you saying this is wrong? How would you know? apparently the experts disagree with you and you aren’t “Up on all that"
@BaneOfAzrael Look up articles on the Word of Wisdom, they have talked about unhealthy aspects of tea and coffee. I've read them in the past but I can't remember all that right now, it was years ago! Anyway, as I've said, we don't know ALL the reasons why we are to avoid coffee and tea. But if we have a testimony as to the truthfulness of the gospel, we will want to do what is right and obey the Word of Wisdom for our health and spiritual benefit.
@cindybin2001 'Look up articles on the Word of Wisdom” --> how about you go do the research. We tried this once, you said “go talk to the missionaries” I went and talked to two. and you disagree with the information they gave me.
So you go do the grunt-work get the information and send it my way
@cindybin2001 "If we don't give kids these drinks, then we as adults shouldn't drink them, either” --> many kids drink tea. Just because you don’t do it does not mean everyone else does the same.
@BaneOfAzrael Oh for heaven's sake, I KNEW you'd say that! Yes I know many kids drink tea. But MOST kids don't. Most kids, including myself, would turn their nose up at it and say BLECH!!!
@BaneOfAzrael Well my kids sure never drank tea and I don't know anybody else who has, either! But why are you trying to prove me wrong? What is the deal with you? You can't "win". I know your type. I've been a member of the church for 30 years. And I'm familiar with these boards.
@cindybin2001 "Well my kids sure never drank tea and I don't know anybody else who has, either! “ --> so your only drawing on your own experience. not taking into account the world context. Most kids in the world drink tea. maybe most in your area don;t but that doesn;t matter
@BaneOfAzrael Okay, you've proven me wrong! The Word of Wisdom isn't true, because we are all mixed up on that "tea controversry", and kids drink tea, and we're all wishy-washy. So therefore the whole church isn't true, and we must disband in disgrace! Because some guy on the Internet said that tea is good for you! thank you for setting us straight!
@cindybin2001 And I know your type. You're judgmental and so stuck in her own ways that You take every question as an attack, all advise as an insult. You judge everyone before actually having enough knowledge to do so adequately. For what you lack in information you replace with assumption and with what others tell you.
I wasn’t saying anything bad about your religion or you as a person I was asking a question. You’ve shown your true colours.
@cindybin2001 A big deal about tea, not really, the reason for my annoyance is not about the topic, but the way you’ve acted and treated me, when all I was doing was asking a simple question. You didn’t have the answers, told me where to go, I reported back my findings, and you got angry, judgmental and insulting. This is a matter of principle now not a matter of tea
@cindybin2001 " thinking they have to drink these things to be a grownup.” --> I drink tea because I like it, furthermore its healthy for me. and I haven’t been sick for years.
@BaneOfAzrael Yes, it is the mind of a sheep. So many people drink coffee and tea because they think that's what grownups do. Same with alcohol. they just HAVE to "raise a toast" with champagne and drink "fine wine" and "have a beer with the guys".
@cindybin2001 " Yes, it is the mind of a sheep” --> now your being insulting and ignoring what I said. I said I drink tea because I like it. Not because I see grownups do it.
@cindybin2001 According to them, all teas (aside from teas without caffeine) are disallowed. That said, they encourage people to avoid drinking any type of tea because it could be confusing to others making it “hard to see the line between right and wrong”.
In a way its a test of faith as well as trying to keep yourselves healthy. It's also symbolic in that following this little tiny law - we show that you can follow even greater doctrinal beliefs, demonstrating your faith
@cindybin2001 So in short. To say all tea is bad is going to look idiotic to people who drink tea. To say that you do no have caffeinated drinks like black tea, coffee and some carbonated drinks because caffeine is an addictive substance makes more sense. And to further say that you avoid all tea as a symbolic display of your faith and trust accounts for why you can’t have any tea.
@cindybin2001 Technically there is nothing wrong with my mint tea, its not bad, you could even have it, the caffeinated ones are the ones disallowed. You avoid others it as an optional symbolic gesture (according to the missionaries).
Be sure to explain this to people who ask, or your going to look silly when you say all tea is bad. Thats like saying “all fruit is bad because bananas have bad chemicals in them"
@BaneOfAzrael I don't like tea anyway. Blech. I've never liked hot drinks. And of cuorse you just HAVE to put me down and say I'm going to look silly, blah blah blah. Gotta try and embarrass me and prove me WRONG. Oh you people drive me nuts. I have heard that we aren't supposed to drink tea, period.
@cindybin2001 "And of cuorse you just HAVE to put me down and say I'm going to look silly” --> no this isn’t a put down. Why are you so defensive? If I was putting you down i would be saying you ARE silly or you ARE stupid. I never said that, I went out, got the information, and gave you some friendly advice so you could avoid appearing silly to others. If you think that thats an insult thats your problem
@cindybin2001 "Gotta try and embarrass me and prove me WRONG. “ --> prove you wrong? I did what you freaking asked lady. I asked the missionaries, I gave you a recount of what they said so you could be up to date. And was not insulting in delivering it.
I was going to make it a private message, but Your privacy settings don’t allow me to send it.
@cindybin2001 Ginger, apples and mint are not bad on their own, Water is not bad on its own. hot or cold water is not bad on its own. yet according to you when these are mixed (with hot or cold water) they are not ok to drink. Why? you can’t tell me, you tell me to trust in the wisdom of your church. but if wisdom cannot be shared or demonstrated its called unfounded superstition.
@cindybin2001 I’m assuming you can cook right? You’ve probably used mint, apples and ginger at some point yes? So whats wrong with something like mint, apple ginger tea?
@cindybin2001 “But no, they just reject it.” --> If I had, “just rejected it” I would have said something like “No lady, thats BS. Your wrong” I wouldn’t be asking questions
Coffee I can understand. People can be addicted to it. In small amounts its not much of an issue, but its definitely an acquired taste :P
Alcohol I can understand. It can be addictive, too much is bad for you, it can make you sick, make poor decisions. in small amounts in a social setting I don’t see an Issue, but i can understand why.
Cigarettes, drugs, etc. --> addicting, unhealthy, got it.
@BaneOfAzrael just to fit in and be social, etc. I just knew it wasn't right. And then when I discovered the Mormon church, I realized that if we don't give our kids things like tea and coffee, they must not be right for adults, either. I know there are studies that say tea is healthy, etc. And there probably are benefits, but the risks outweigh them. I just have never had any desire to drink coffee or tea anyway.
@yourallbrainwashed being a "goody goody"! This was when I was a freshman in college, I think. I just didn't know anything about the Mormon church and I didn't really even care. But a few years later I became curious, so I sent away for the BoM. I read it but it still didn't answer my questions about the church--what made it DIFFERENT from other mainstream, Christian churches. What were it's DOCTRINES?? This was in the early 80's and we did not have the Internet then. I was not ready to contact
@yourallbrainwashed missionaries--I didn't want to be "bugged" or pressured into joining any church! So I set out to find answers on my own. At first, the only thing I could find were anti-Mormon books, in Christian book stores, of all places! these books were against Mormons and said they weren't Christians, and said all kinds of other weird things that I just knew weren't true--just from the little bit I knew already about the Church. I kept searching, until finally I found a book in our
@yourallbrainwashed local library called A Marvelous Work and a Wonder, by LeGrand Richards, a member of the church. He explained the doctrines of the Mormon church and used Biblical references to support these things. I was fascinated and read that book for about a year, although I still didn't think I'd actually join the church. But I just couldn't forget it; I knew I wouldn't be happy unless I were a member. I asked to attend church services with a Mormon family (co-worker of my husband) to
@yourallbrainwashed see if everything I had read about the church was like it was in real life. I still couldn't belive that people like this actually existed--where they had these gospel principles and didn't drink or smoke, etc. When I attended the church service with this family, I looked around and saw all these people actually living this gospel. I just knew it was true. Then I asked the family how I could be baptized. Their jaws dropped! They didn't realize I had been studying about the
@yourallbrainwashed church all those months! So they sent the sister missionaries over and I asked them some more questions. I wanted to be sure about everything, because this was a huge step for me. Nobody in my family was Mormon! But the missionaries answered my questions, and I took the lessons to be baptized, which were really just a review for me because I had studied so much, and pondered and prayed about this. So anyway, that was over 30 years ago.
@yourallbrainwashed As for believing without physical evidence, that question comes up alot and what I have learned through my years in the church is that the plates aren't on this earth anymore because if they were, we would be FORCED to believe. Would you want to be forced to be a Mormon? No. We are all here to exercise our free agency, to learn and grow and make decisions. that's what life is all about. We have to develop our FAITH, which is a belief in things we can't see but that we
@yourallbrainwashed know to be true. We have to develop our own testimony because that helps us grow spiritually and develop our faith in God so that we can return to our Father in Heaven someday. I hope this makes sense to you. I have to go for now--dinner time--I'll try to get to the other questions later.
dont you guys ever get the point? get the fuck out of here!
i hate it when religious people come knocking on my door!!! what if i just dont want to be bothered because im still in my underwear? or what if im not done taking my morning shit? or what if i just dont feel like talking to someone at 9am in the fucking morning? or what if i just dont want to share my life stories with a bunch of nosey brainwashed self- righteous hypocritical know it all douchebags? leave me the fuck alone idiots!
@cindybin2001 So when you cant answer my questions, you just pull the profanity card huh? And your just using my profanity to avoid answering my questions, because you know if you do, youll sound like an idiot. And why do you attach magic to words anyway? you DO know cursing was considered bad because people USED to believe that magic could be cast if used right? youre just upset because you know what i said about god is true, and now youre starting to question god too.
@cindybin2001 well just answer my questions and put an end to all of this, instead of reading my other comments to try to find ammo to use against me or to use as an excuse to avoid answering them? you feel you dont need to answer me because i curse and cursing is against god and you dont want to stoop to my level right? i have encountered many religious people with the same excuses before. none of them have ever answered a single question "directly" out of fear of sounding dumb or irrational.
@yourallbrainwashed As I've said, read A Marvelous Work and a Wonder, by LeGrand Richards. That book helped me greatly when I was first investigating the Church years ago. Also, talk to missionaries, listen to Mormon videos here, etc.
@cindybin2001 i will check it out, but you are still no different then any other religious person weather it be, christian, muslim, jewish ect. all i asked was for you to answer a few very very simple questions, and again you wont answer them directly? the problem is that you take the offensive due to my use of harsh language and blunt explaintions, and instead of choosing to hear my questions for what they are, you instead choose to believe im being arrogant. please just answer my questions.
@yourallbrainwashed Okay, so what were your questions? You expect me to answer those obscene things you listed about, regarding evacuating your bowls and talking to someone in the "f-ing morning"? What questions do you have? And please ask them nicely.
@cindybin2001 heres the same questions: i asked you if you know why its SO important to god that we believe he exists? do you thinks its morally ok to send someone to burn in eternal hell fire just because they dont believe god exists? would you send your child to hell to burn forever just because he didnt believe you were his parent? also, why do you believe in god?
@cindybin2001 im asking you very nicely, so iv given you no reason to not answer my questions. so here are the same questions again : i asked you if you know why its SO important to god that we believe he exists? do you think its morally ok to send someone to burn in eternal hell fire just because they dont believe god exists? would you send your child to hell to burn forever just because he didnt believe you were his parent? also, why do you believe in god? .
@cindybin2001 Here, watch this youtube video titled:
"Door To Door Atheists Bother Mormons Video"
this is how it feels when mormons come knocking on my door.
look how violent those so called religious people get when you tell them you dont believe in god. how do you think the iraq war started? its a religious war man.
also, why dont you answer any of my questions? you said you would if i was nice and i was? and lieing is a sin according to your belief right?
@yourallbrainwashed Why dont you start by gettin laid, get a job, loose some weight, and get up off ur lazy fatass and go to the gym. you stupid arrogant bitch
There is a very good movie on Mormon missionaries entitled "Latter Days." It can be found on various on-line sites, including TLA Video, Deep Discount DVD and Amazon. It gives some good insights into Mormonism.
That is a bit harsh. I do not know if I would say that either perverted the teachings. The Muslims altered and changed the biblical stories when they were retold in the Koran, in large part to give them an Arab-focused viewpoint. The Mormons just added on some new ones. One could say that they elaborated a bit. Of course, neither one, though they are perfectly acceptable religions, is Christian.
Another theological difference is that Christians believe in the Old Testament and New Testament as Holy Writ. There are other religious texts that interpret the Bible or slightly expand the understanding of it, but there are not other equivalent works. Again, in contrast, the Mormons view the Book of Mormon as being Holy Writ, as being the equal of the two books of the Bible. That, too, is not Christian.
@RCSVirginia I the Book of Mormon is equal to the Bible why is it that it is so unpopular in comparison TO the Bible? The book of Mormon is printed in something like 100 languages in what? Maybe a few hundred million? Yet the Bible is printed in over 2,000 languages! There are over 12 translation of the Bible in English alone. And EVERY year millions of bibles are printed. The Book of Mormon doesn't come close by ANY stretch.
@midoscentavos The Bible has been translated by monks, by heads of churches, and if you were to take the King James translation, their is 7 other translations that INDEED have differences then the King James version. During the time of slaves and the great Civil War new verses were abridged, making it possible for White men to have slaves, Saying ...Every women shall follow their husbands and every slave shall follow their masters. I love the Bible, and the BofM, The book has 1 translation.
@Morehead900 Again, I am flabbergasted at a religion that claims to have faith in God yet has such little faith in his ability to protect his word. Mormons have more faith in Joseph Smith than they do in "heavenly father".
@Chase9803 He didn't............. you fail whale. They use the King James version. The Book of Mormon is just a book of the LDS prophets time. It's not a revision of the Bible.
Theologically, the majority of Christians believe in a trinity that is indivisible: 3 is 1; 1 is 3. God, the Father; God, the Son; and God, the Holy Ghost, are not separate beings. Unitarian Christians believe, also, that God is indivisible, and only one, actually rejecting a Godhead Trinity. Mormons, in contrast, believe that Father, Son and Holy Ghost are three separate, physical beings. This is not a Christian belief.
No existe materia inmaterial.
O existe o no existe.

@gordonculp
ShadowReubenKee 4 days ago
@gordonculp Final Part
ShadowReubenKee 4 days ago
@ShadowReubenKee
How do you know everything is already decided, pre-determined?
How do you know that we don't have free will?
Where are the logical premises and conclusion?
Dogmatically stating something to be true doesn't make it so. Especially when our understanding regarding the truth or non-truth of he concept of free-will is quite limited.
cmadison93 2 days ago
-1-
1. All I said was that we do not have free will.
ShadowReubenKee 2 days ago
@cmadison93 -2- (Read -1- below)
...So is it free will to go with what you like?

LDS way of believing Book of Mormon: "We dont need to 'find' proofs. Its already true"
It's circular reasoning fallacy. Simply assuming a claim is true does not serve as evidence for that claim. It's like saying:
"X is true. The evidence for this claim is that X is true"
There is no evidence for LDS, only circular reasoning and absolute unquestionable obedience, who cares about right and wrong? just obey?!?!. that's a cult!

yourallbrainwashed 4 weeks ago
@yourallbrainwashed Okay, I finally have a few minutes so let me answer at least what I can for now. Why is faith important to me? Well it never used to be; I was raised Episocopalian and never cared much about religion, it never made sense to me. I just plain didn't care one way or the other. I used to watch the singing Osmond family on TV and knew that they didn't smoke or drink or swear or use drugs or anything like that, and they seemed so SURE of their beliefs. When I was growing up
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@yourallbrainwashed everybody smoked and drank, etc. I thought this is just what grownups did! Even I experimented briefly with alcohol and cigarettes in my youth. I did it to be bad and cool. But I stopped by the time I was 20 or so. I never did drink coffee or tea, though. Blech! Anyway, in my early 20's I sent away for a copy of The Book of Mormon through the Osmond fan club. I wanted to know what the Mormon church was about. Believe it or not, there was a time I made fun of Donny Osmond for
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 "I never did drink coffee or tea, though. Blech” --> Whats wrong with tea?
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Tea and coffee are against our religion. In the LDS church we have The Word of Wisdom which we believe to be revelation from God saying that hot drinks (tea and coffee), alcohol, cigarettes, and illicit drugs like marijuana, etc. are not for the body. I never drank tea or coffee even before I joined the church. I never liked it, and always felt these drinks were for "grownups" and I never wanted to be a "grownup" in that sense of the word, where I consumed these kinds of drinks
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 Too bad, Tea is good for you. There are many different kinds.. What-about drinking it cold?
"I realized that if we don't give our kids things like tea” --> many children drink tea, especially in eastern and first nations cultures. Its good for them, in fact there are medicinal properties to some tea
" but the risks outweigh them” --> What exactly are these risks?
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Yes I know that many studies say tea is good for you, and there probably are health benefits. But the risks far outweigh them. Also, as I said, we have what we believe to be direct revelation from God saying that this is not for the body (not even cold). There are chemicals and such in tea and coffee that are not good for you. But I never drank this stuff even before I became Mormon! Yuck!
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 You’ve claimed that there are risks that outweigh the benefits of health.
I’m just curious as to what these are, can you be specific?
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Anyway, it just drives me nuts that I try to help people understand about the Word of Wisdom, and they reject it. They try to prove me wrong, point out studies regarding health benefits of these things, etc. When I was first investigating the LDS church, one of the things that ATTRACTED me to the church was The Word of Wisdom! And when I talk about it online I always hope that people will say, "Really? Wow! Tell me more! That sounds interesting!" But no, they just reject it.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 "t. They try to prove me wrong” --> I’m not trying to prove you wrong, I’m trying to understand a rule that think is silly. I’m not an idiot, I’m not going to blindly accept things without trying to understand them. This is why I ask Questions. If I didn’t see this is interesting I wouldn’t have responded.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Well all I can say is talk to missionaries about this, visit the official church website, watch videos by Mormons who talk about this. You have to want to learn and understand. That's what I did when I was first investigating the Church. When I was growing up, everybody smoked and drank booze and drank coffee and tea. I thought that's just what you did as a grownup. But I knew it couldn't be right. That's one of the things that attracted me to the LDS church.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 "Well all I can say is talk to missionaries about this” --> So you don’t actually know what the “risks” are then?
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Not off the top of my head--I don't keep up with all that. But there are studies and such. We don't know all the risks. But we believe The Word of Wisdom and that it is there to help us physically and spiritually. Anyway, i'm sure there are others in the church who can tell you more about this than I can.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 Well you see, this is an issue. Your claiming that something is potentially harmful. But you can’t point out any harmful aspect. This isn’t wisdom, this is taking something without perusing an understanding and repeating it. If you can’t point out a single risk, how then can you claim it is a problem?
I can’t believe that you were attracted by rules like this that you "knew it couldn't be right” because you would have tried to understand.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael I said that you should talk to missionaries or someone else in the church who can help you with this. I don't have all the health risks on the top of my head. And as I said, there are many things about tea, coffee, etc. that we don't know, but we are advised to stay away from these for our own spiritual and physical health. We have to trust in the Lord with this.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 You see the issue I have with your statements is the claims you make but cannot justify, and then twist around in your response. " I don't have all the health risks on the top of my head.” --> I asked you for one, not all, I said give me one reason.
"And as I said, there are many things about tea, coffee, etc. that we don't know” --> it sounds like you are kept ignorant. You have said its harmful, but cannot tell me why. You claim there is harmful chemicals, yet cannot name any.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael As I said, talk to missionaries in the church, or someone else who is more "up" on this subject. We aren't "kept ignorant." The LDS church isn't trying to exercise "mind control". All they do is hypnotize us each Sunday. "You will not drink tea...you will not drink tea...there are no good reasons why, but even so, you will not drink tea..." I listen and I obey. HA!!!
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 Don’t you see the issue here? your not asking why. Your blindly putting your faith in the claims of others with something that is (to be frank) laughable. I was more than willing to listen to your reasons, after all you said that they were wise and you too once thought that the rules were silly. But I can only assume your lying or have been duped. "We have to trust in the Lord “ --> no this is a rather simple matter. Give me one reason, if you have none its superstition
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Yes I have asked why. I'm just not "up" on all that at the moment. There's nothing secret or hidden, so please stop trying to make me look like a blind sheep following some wacky cult. I'm not like that at all.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 "so please stop trying to make me look like a blind sheep following some wacky cult.” --> thats not my intent. You had mentioned that tea was harmful and that means you should have something to back up the claim. You claim to have asked why so I assume you have at least 1 reason you can name.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 "just ask missionaries” -->I don’t think there are any in my area, but I’ll check the website out when i get the time, the lesson here is simply that you should have information ready when you make claims, if not it seems suspicious
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Heck, just the other day my daughter-in-law was telling me some health risks about tea and coffee. I can't remember exactly what she said, I was preoccupied with small children at the time. But as I said, just ask missionaries, or go to the official LDS website. And hunt around for some videos on YOuTube, I'm sure there are some. DavidLory is a Mormon guy that has a lot of good videos on the church.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 Cindy can you explain this to me? The writings that Mormons base this belief in does not in fact mention coffee OR tea, does it? It simply says, "hot beverages." So why don't you avoid ALL hot beverages? The church chooses to interpret this to mean coffee and tea and members of the church take it a step further and say it's referring to caffeine and thus, they refuse to drink any caffeinated drinks, such as cola, yet, again, originally, it just said HOT DRINKS. What gives?
somedudeII 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 On Mormon(dot)org there is the option to “talk” online to a missionary.
They essentially said that they avoid tea because of the caffeine content. Because caffeine can be addictive they don’t have it in their diets because of the potential to create an addiction, or lead to others. In a way, it could be considered a “gateway drink”. "It pertains to having control over our bodies, not our bodies controlling us”
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Well there are other reasons besides the caffeine content. I do know that Mormons are allowed to use caffeine; we can eat chocolate or drink Mountain Dew, etc. But as I said, I always knew that coffee and tea weren't good for you, even before I joined the Church! If we don't give kids these drinks, then we as adults shouldn't drink them, either. But so many people are sheep, thinking they have to drink these things to be a grownup.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 "Well there are other reasons besides the caffeine content.” --> According to the missionaries you sent me to talk to because you “are not ‘up' on all that at the moment.” It is just because of the caffeine content (and the rest as an optional symbolic gesture). Are you saying this is wrong? How would you know? apparently the experts disagree with you and you aren’t “Up on all that"
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Look up articles on the Word of Wisdom, they have talked about unhealthy aspects of tea and coffee. I've read them in the past but I can't remember all that right now, it was years ago! Anyway, as I've said, we don't know ALL the reasons why we are to avoid coffee and tea. But if we have a testimony as to the truthfulness of the gospel, we will want to do what is right and obey the Word of Wisdom for our health and spiritual benefit.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 'Look up articles on the Word of Wisdom” --> how about you go do the research. We tried this once, you said “go talk to the missionaries” I went and talked to two. and you disagree with the information they gave me.
So you go do the grunt-work get the information and send it my way
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 "If we don't give kids these drinks, then we as adults shouldn't drink them, either” --> many kids drink tea. Just because you don’t do it does not mean everyone else does the same.

@BaneOfAzrael Oh for heaven's sake, I KNEW you'd say that! Yes I know many kids drink tea. But MOST kids don't. Most kids, including myself, would turn their nose up at it and say BLECH!!!
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 'But MOST kids don’t.” --> actually most do.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Well my kids sure never drank tea and I don't know anybody else who has, either! But why are you trying to prove me wrong? What is the deal with you? You can't "win". I know your type. I've been a member of the church for 30 years. And I'm familiar with these boards.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 "Well my kids sure never drank tea and I don't know anybody else who has, either! “ --> so your only drawing on your own experience. not taking into account the world context. Most kids in the world drink tea. maybe most in your area don;t but that doesn;t matter
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Okay, you've proven me wrong! The Word of Wisdom isn't true, because we are all mixed up on that "tea controversry", and kids drink tea, and we're all wishy-washy. So therefore the whole church isn't true, and we must disband in disgrace! Because some guy on the Internet said that tea is good for you! thank you for setting us straight!
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 And I know your type. You're judgmental and so stuck in her own ways that You take every question as an attack, all advise as an insult. You judge everyone before actually having enough knowledge to do so adequately. For what you lack in information you replace with assumption and with what others tell you.
I wasn’t saying anything bad about your religion or you as a person I was asking a question. You’ve shown your true colours.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael You were making a big deal about the tea thing and you know it!
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 A big deal about tea, not really, the reason for my annoyance is not about the topic, but the way you’ve acted and treated me, when all I was doing was asking a simple question. You didn’t have the answers, told me where to go, I reported back my findings, and you got angry, judgmental and insulting. This is a matter of principle now not a matter of tea
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 Don’t put words in other peoples mouths. Don’t pretend they insulted you to justify your own conduct.
If you truly think that I’m out to get you, then what a sad paranoid life you must live

@cindybin2001 " thinking they have to drink these things to be a grownup.” --> I drink tea because I like it, furthermore its healthy for me. and I haven’t been sick for years.
This is not the mind of a sheep
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Yes, it is the mind of a sheep. So many people drink coffee and tea because they think that's what grownups do. Same with alcohol. they just HAVE to "raise a toast" with champagne and drink "fine wine" and "have a beer with the guys".
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 " Yes, it is the mind of a sheep” --> now your being insulting and ignoring what I said. I said I drink tea because I like it. Not because I see grownups do it.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 According to them, all teas (aside from teas without caffeine) are disallowed. That said, they encourage people to avoid drinking any type of tea because it could be confusing to others making it “hard to see the line between right and wrong”.
In a way its a test of faith as well as trying to keep yourselves healthy. It's also symbolic in that following this little tiny law - we show that you can follow even greater doctrinal beliefs, demonstrating your faith
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 So in short. To say all tea is bad is going to look idiotic to people who drink tea. To say that you do no have caffeinated drinks like black tea, coffee and some carbonated drinks because caffeine is an addictive substance makes more sense. And to further say that you avoid all tea as a symbolic display of your faith and trust accounts for why you can’t have any tea.
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 Technically there is nothing wrong with my mint tea, its not bad, you could even have it, the caffeinated ones are the ones disallowed. You avoid others it as an optional symbolic gesture (according to the missionaries).
Be sure to explain this to people who ask, or your going to look silly when you say all tea is bad. Thats like saying “all fruit is bad because bananas have bad chemicals in them"
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael I don't like tea anyway. Blech. I've never liked hot drinks. And of cuorse you just HAVE to put me down and say I'm going to look silly, blah blah blah. Gotta try and embarrass me and prove me WRONG. Oh you people drive me nuts. I have heard that we aren't supposed to drink tea, period.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 "And of cuorse you just HAVE to put me down and say I'm going to look silly” --> no this isn’t a put down. Why are you so defensive? If I was putting you down i would be saying you ARE silly or you ARE stupid. I never said that, I went out, got the information, and gave you some friendly advice so you could avoid appearing silly to others. If you think that thats an insult thats your problem
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@BaneOfAzrael Well all I know is that I've talked to others in the church who say that we shouldn't drink tea, period.
cindybin2001 1 month ago

BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago
@cindybin2001 I’m assuming you can cook right? You’ve probably used mint, apples and ginger at some point yes? So whats wrong with something like mint, apple ginger tea?

Coffee I can understand. People can be addicted to it. In small amounts its not much of an issue, but its definitely an acquired taste :P
Alcohol I can understand. It can be addictive, too much is bad for you, it can make you sick, make poor decisions. in small amounts in a social setting I don’t see an Issue, but i can understand why.
Cigarettes, drugs, etc. --> addicting, unhealthy, got it.
Tea? Why?
BaneOfAzrael 1 month ago

We have to develop our FAITH, which is a belief in things we can't see but that we
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@yourallbrainwashed know to be true. We have to develop our own testimony because that helps us grow spiritually and develop our faith in God so that we can return to our Father in Heaven someday. However Mormons are not christians. The just like the Musims perverted Christs teachings and words
Mormons are no more Christians than Muslims
2002lees 1 month ago
@2002lees
RCSVirginia 1 month ago
@RCSVirginia Just curious how are they not christian?
russebla000 1 month ago
@russebla000
RCSVirginia 1 month ago
@RCSVirginia I the Book of Mormon is equal to the Bible why is it that it is so unpopular in comparison TO the Bible? The book of Mormon is printed in something like 100 languages in what? Maybe a few hundred million? Yet the Bible is printed in over 2,000 languages! There are over 12 translation of the Bible in English alone. And EVERY year millions of bibles are printed. The Book of Mormon doesn't come close by ANY stretch.
midoscentavos 3 weeks ago
