  • Nice Tutorial!

  • What mode do you have to be in to use cd players? it looks like relative mode is on in this video. A lot of the newer hiphop tracks are in the 60 - 70 bpm range, so doing this is a good idea if your club gig is an edm night. I used to mix hiphop accapellas into drum n bass tracks back in the day, but i dont do edm anymore

  • It's way easier to mash up with Ableton but vinyl touch is more fun :)

  • @cgountanis Im sure it is. Never used Ableton. I was just trying to give pointers on how to make it work on the fly with just two decks and a mixer.

  • how you like those denon cdjs?

  • @BIGMACE424 They were really good. I sold them though for two stupid reasons:

    1) There was no coffin that was made for two small cd decks and the 12" mixer I had and I couldn't find a small mixer that had features I needed so I had nothing to lug my gear around in. I wish I would have waited for the Denon DN-X600 mixer.

and 2) I was really missing spinning on my Turntables.

  • Good stuff man! I have been experimenting with this myself but it does take a lot of practice! I don't think people realize it is not just about mixing instrumentals and vocals, there does take a certain finesse to doing this.

  • @trey77 It really does. Thanks.

  • Bro thanks for the great tips

  • @DJFr3akshow your welcome. Thanks for commenting.

  • basically mix instruemnt and vocal / acapella ... =)

  • @marvie05marv Basically.... NO!!!!

This video is not about mixing an acapella w/ instrumental. It is about making it work when there is no acapella available.

  • Using the SL3 is amazing while doing these mash ups! Having the ability to control 3 decks will give you more time to transition from one track to the next while having the bass track playing

  • What kinda laptop do you use?

  • I dont have a huge hip hop/rnb collection and I struggle to find many tracks half the speed of my house stuff. But this does work well and great video. mixing anything like this or even just acapellas at the same speed generally gets a great crowd response. particularly when people listening, understand what you're doing.

  • well serato is the software i justing so it work good i liked so try them see

  • Can yew use a numark mixer and the rane sl3 for serato?

or do yew need everything from searto?

  • @elektrooraverr You can use any DJ mixer with Serato Scratch

  • @gilboogie Thx man.

  • @elektrooraverr no u need searto turntables and serato speakers

  • @kuntie23 no yew don't

  • 3:57

  • How DO you get scratch live?

  • @XTRMxiViReFLeX You have to buy it. You download the software but it wont work without the hardware.

  • @gilboogie

    Major Lie Bro!! LoL

    serato.com/downloads/scratchlive

  • @MrDJSPONGEBOB101 You still can't mix two tracks together with just the software... You need the Hardware!!!

  • @gilboogie

Hahah yeah iKno but that sukks major donkeydikk ferr people that aint got the hardware...

  • dope ay brea u got sound cloud ?

  • @djkidfresh Yes. Its GilBoogie. But I have to put some new stuff up there.

  • hey man appreciate for the mash-up~

  • @keepcool1219 Thanks!!!

  • i like it.!

  • @krlozvl Thanks

  • I've been watching some of your vids for awhile and I really like them...some ppl r so negative with their comments...sh!t at least u trying...keep it up!!

  • @carsea74 Thanks I appreciate that. Im just having fun with this... I don't let the hatters get to me... There's a delete button for all the hatters!!! Feel Me!!

  • Thats well bent, back to DJ school for you!

  • i think itd be better if he just sped up the house song to 128 bpm so hed have a 1:2 bass kick ratio for the hip hong song and the house song

  • @LavaFrank but then they'd be out of sync

  • what is the cheapest way to get traks? Good job Gilboogie

  • @amiho79 I tunes is pretty cheap... You can get most tracks for .99 sometimes cheaper.

  • Nice try but theres way to much going on. The house track overpowered the hip-hop track.

  • @djdraco1 I know its not perfect just wanted to give some dj's an idea of how to do it...

  • great job man!

  • @lotsofbballs Thanks

  • nice... top mix

  • @chelskifl Thanks

  • where can we download the beat (the drums -victor calderone)? thanks

  • can you upload the drums on youtube ore any onther site where i can download it thx nice tut

  • Could you do it with an acapella and the house track? Or would it not give the same affect??

    DJ C

  • @12CJ12 Acapella would probably sound better but sometimes its hard to get acapella's thats why I did it this way. Just to show that if you tweak the sound you can get ti to work...

  • auto sync, real dj's dont use auto sync

  • @callowayryanb there's no auto sync for serato, tard boy.

  • @callowayryanb serato don't even have auto sync !!

  • do you auto sync or beat match yourself???????

  • @hardcorebreakbeats I beat mach myself. There is no auto sync on Serato Scratch Live.

  • @gilboogie hey man i agree yet its pretty damn easy to mix on serato as you can line up the colours and lines so its sort of cheating don't you think? i'm in no way having a go either i just thought i'd mention this

  • very impressive

  • Hi

where can i get the Drums track ? thanks

  • Nice one dude! I have 2 denon s1200's as well, but I need help setting up to the PC..

  • how do you get the bpms???

  • @MrDiazchris Sorry for the late reply... Most DJ gear now have beat counters. My mixer, CD decks and DJ software have BPM counters. There are also free BPM counters you can download (MIXMEISTER). Best advice is never to rely solely on AUTO BPM detectors. I tap in all of my BPMs.

  • How did you make the echo effect at the end of the J Holiday song. Was that on your mixer or DNS1200. I have the DNS1200 and I want to use them with Serato but I heard that you lose all the effects on the dns1200

  • Hey, Thanks for watching and commenting... When you use a programs like Serato & Traktor etc... You lose most of the effects your CD decks have EVEN WITH NATIVE SUPPORT!!! :O/

The effects you hear are from my mixer.

  • good job....m8...j.holiday 64...n victor is 128...64x2=128...try mix 104 with 130.....

  • Really good, try it with acapellas : D i think it would be better maybe - I love mashing up Hiphop with Satisfaction , comes out fucken great. Great vid : D

  • I was just trying to demonstrate how you can make it work with out an acapella. It would work better with an acapella though. Thanks for your comment.

  • :] Do you spin at clubs in NYC?

  • Not at the moment... :0(

  • that sounded great good job

  • Thanks...

  • Did u speed up the bpm of Akon and J.Holiday to match the house music bpm ?

  • I slowed them down just a little and sped up the House Tracks

  • gilboogie, please help trying to get house music. where did you get that from, i don't know house music but that shit makes me moves in the club. I play hip hop dance-hall old skool, trying to build up house library, thanks Nice vid

  • I get most of my new house music from Itunes also try beatport. My older stuff I had on vinyl and transfered to digital... Also, I watch a lot of "tenminmix" video's on youtube just to hear new music. and lastly if there is a radio station in your area that plays house music go to their website and check their playlist. Hope that helps out.

  • gilboogie, thanks for you response I appreciate it.

  • hey there bro, just thought your video and explaination on mixing two sond with veary different bpm can make one awesome mix. lots of props and respect. keep up the teaching and show the love to the world. thanks

  • Thanks alot man.

  • yo brethren, i got the DNS1200 and i am recently working with the Rane Scratch live and the program is kicking my ass bro. but iam not giving up. u giving me hope. thx for this vid. bless

  • I been spinning for a long time and all I can tell you is that Serato Scratch Live Is the best thing since sliced bread. Check out the video's that "Serato Tutor" has posted on youtube. Lots of helpful stuff on there.

  • aight brethren, i would check it out for sure. iam trying to master it alone with my DNS 1200. would tell u how i do down the road. peace

  • i was wondering about getting ns7's with serato ITCH...whats the difference between Itch and the scratch live?

plz help me out trying to make a decision

  • Sorry, But i don't know much about itch. I just tried doing a "Itch vs. SSL" search but didnt find much. I can tell you that I was at a guitar center and i messed around with the NS7 for about 10 min and it was pretty simple to figure out. I guess if you already have decks and a mixer you should go wit SSL. If your starting from scratch maybe the ns7 is the way to go...

  • what is that software?

  • Serato SCRATCH LIVE

  • interesting mix bro. hey, i just started DJin'. have the new Numark NS 7 w/ Serato ITCH. I was just wondering where is the best place/site to get hot trance and house traxx w/o the vocals. thanx keep it caomin' babbyeeyyyy!!!

  • Good tutorial. All of your videos are good! Cas.

  • Sick Tutorial, Big Ups!

  • Thanks!!!

  • GOOD SHIT !!! GOOD SHIT !!!

  • Feelin it dun...

  • yo not to hate or anything..u mixed dem goods but truly thoughs bpms r false..i have songs gaven to me straight from da local radio station over here....j holliday bed is truly 128 nd dont matter is 124..maybe thats y they mixed so easly? just asking not hating

  • Well... When I tap them in i find myself tapping them to the slower bpm's... that J. Holliday song is a slower R&B track. It's not really a dance track... I don't think that AKON track was meant to be a dance track either its got more of an R&B feel to it... Either way if you have some tracks that are between 60-70 bpm's you can mix them with dance beats and thats what this vid is all about. Ya dig?

  • DJ PD305- The bpm's are correct. Anytime you get bpms that seem kinda off...keep in mind that programs will pick up different things while reading the bpms(not just bass or claps etc.). like the holiday track was 64 on his. But you said that the station gave you info that it was 128. Well just double the count and its 128. 64X2=128

and vice versa. If it seems that the bpms are to way too fast cut it in half. This is not a fool proof method. But it definitely helps me out alot when spinnin.

  • Thanks bro.

  • thanx for the tip bro, good stuff

    - dj islandstyle

  • anytime, Thanks.

  • POBA

  • ???

  • nice!

  • ahhhhh, Thanks.

  • Sounds good. I miss the birds though... ;-)

  • That sounded good man, keep it buddy , I suppose you could also use an accapella as well and cut out the melody and avoid clashes

  • Yoooooo Huma!!!! Thanks.

I agree but sometimes it's so hard to get accapella's Thats one of the few things I miss about vinyl. Getting instrumentals accapella's and sometimes even a remix on one single.

  • now thats how its done! awesome bro!

but 60 bpm times 2 is 120 bpm lol u just skip a beat all the time

  • Hey, I corrected myself!!! LOL

Thanks for the compliment. See youon Skype

  • Gil that was hot. Some tight mix!

  • Thanks bro.
