The rest of the 98 French team should get more credit for their performance than zidane. Remember Thuram's 2 goals againts Croatia. Their backline against the Italians in the quarterfinals. Blanc goal against Paraguay in extra time where was zidane in all of those occasions.

its true did you watch him played? so far I stated facts about his stats, people just say he was the best and don't back up their claim. He was the first player to loose three successive European finals.Zidane is an entertainer, not a difference maker. The best player is not the one most artistic, but the most deadly and effective. From this point of view, Zidane is not the man.Zidane simply jumped into the most succesful boat available. He was added to the best European clubs at their peak.

@almehajer2008 What you say boggles my mind Pele statistically will prob be the best ever and he was years ahead of his time, Zidane never dominated a tournament like he did.Maradona had probably the best individual world cup tournament to date he was a one man team ,He dominated the Serie A with Napoli for crying out loud.Zidane had the best France team ever from 98-06 played for the two best club teams in the 90s and early 2000 juve and Real. Zidane was great but tends to be overrated alot.

Zidane wasn't even better than Platini. He was lucky he got to play with some teams that were Loaded with talent, just look at his stats he wasnt a scorer or provided alot of assists. He was great at keeping possession and Dictating the tempo but with the midfielders he played with it was expected. Don't get wrong he was a great player but got lucky that he scored afew goals in the right time in the right stage.
