Takahashi is a fine skater, but he would never have won at the Olympics. Lysacek's program was so much better than Plushenko's. Evgeni was just holding onto his jumps and his artistry is awful compared to Lysacek's. Brian Joubert is a brilliant skater and he found redemption in Torino.

To me, figure skating was mosly like a bunch of non-dancers trying to move to music....on ice. It's an irritatingly subjective 'sport' with all that fuss about dubious scoring or debate about artistic quality (what??) or politics or whatever.

I would love to have seen Joubert medal but what the heck he looked good. Very naturally masculine without straining to be. He didn't pretend to be a dancer and wasn't a crowd-pleaser and in that sense, strangely, he was like a true danceur noble.

Thanks for your comment. Many people are very irritated that figure skating is so controversial. I felt so bad for Joubert at the Olympics. He is normally very good, but he had a serious accident back in December that affected his training.

Figure skating looks to me like a rigged game. ISU kept tweaking the rules to prevent big jumpers like Joubert or Plushenko from scoring big points. That must''ve been very disheartening and even psychologically damaging for quad jumpers. Weren't medals 'allocated' in advance according to how much money some countries or companies had given to the judges?? Whatever it was, something VERY fishy must've been going on.

Johnny Weir made a comment about Joubert and Plushenko. He told reporters that they don't have many transitions going into their jumps. That might have had something to do with Joubert's falls and Plushenko's less than perfect jumping. But I still think that Lysacek earned that gold. Heck, he even did it without a quad, and that's saying a lot for his artistry and superior technical merit.

Joubert and Plushenko have less transitions because it hinders them from focusing on the harder jumps. Joubert fell because he's been known for mental inconsistencies and Plushenko wasn't jumping well probably because of nerves as well. Takahashi would have won had he not fallen on his quad attempt. Lysacek's PCS was the same as Plushenko and lower than Takahashi. He won because he made less mistakes, not because he has more artistry or better technique.

This is why I watch every possible part of the Olympics, yea sure figure skating isn't my sport, yea sure the Canadians skated like polar bears, but you bring the best to one spot, and brought me to this song ahaha, took me a while to find it since I wasn't paying attention until I heard it.
