  • Rather naively, for years I thought Tracey Ullman wrote this. YouTube led me here where I learned it was written by John Loudermilk and heard this fabulous version by Sandy Posey. All credit to Tracey and Skeeter but this is now the version for me!

  • At the beginning of summer, this is @ the top of the list of tracks I play... to get me in the mood! I love 'Born A Woman' too. True, Tracy Ulman did that special Phil Spectre's 'Wall Of Sound' version... that is great too - though, a little noisy for my liking. Happy listening. o(~_~)o

  • Love it - I have it by Skeeter Davis which is good too, not sure which version I

prefer but I do like all of Sandy Posey's songs.

  • Ooh this is classic. It's nice to hear it finally in stereo.MGM rarely released anything in stereo back in the mid sixties.

  • Great Record

  • Great record

  • SANDY POSEY= LEGEND. A superb singer of the golden 1960s.

  • Certainly not a classic as Single Girl or Born a Woman was but still brilliant.

  • Sandy makes you know why she wears those sunglasses !

Kudos to Skeeter & Tracy but Sandy owns this !

  • @vonmedler

Agree. Skeeter and Tracey's version are good, just not as good as this!

  • Reminds me of Big Doc and Ann Stitt in her Ma's house in The Mount, Great days :)

  • what an Era to be lucky enough to be a teenager during these great songs from the 60's

  • What a sweet voice... My God, I´m falling in love again

  • love it ...... thats me sunglasses have to have my sunglasses

  • My mum forever played this while I was a kid.

I have heard various versions but this is my fav. Probably because I was brainwashed with it as a youngster lol.

    Beautiful voice, lovely song

  • @TheBaz94 My grandaughter of 11 knows the words to this one.

  • Sandy can sing any song and do it well. I love all her songs.

  • tracey ullman"s version is the best by far it check out her 12" version of sunglasses on you tube

  • Says you!

  • "...Yes!! Skeeter Davies was absolutely a great singer & there's no doubt about it, aside from being the originator of this song while Tracey Ullman perhaps was not only wonderfully amazing, beautiful & SEXY when she made it to the top 20 but Gorgeous!!!, Seductive!!!, Alluring!!! & Sensuous!!!!!!! as well...but frankly, I have heard no other singer who can sing this song better than the way Sandey does it... I'm so Sorry...Merci!!!

  • Absolutely beautiful!!! No one perhaps will have the slightest difficulty in being amused by it...that really made my day poignantly perfect, childish in its brazen delight..." Muchos gracias mi Amor for the post!!! Merci!!!

  • There's a French cover by Sheila : " Dans la glace " ( = in the mirror )

    See on Youtube

  • Tracy Ullman's cover of this song is very good; but this is the best version. Sandy was an outstanding singer, and pop/country blends was her greatest strength.

  • This is a good version but the best version is by Hilary in 1968.

  • Actually, I believe this is the best version of this song that has been made. The feeling and emotions reaches the audience in Miss Sandy's version here.

  • the original song is portuguese

  • The original is not portuguese. Skeeter Davis was the first to record it. Davis recorded this on 1965, and then Natercia Barreto recorded a cover in 1968, there's a million of covers from this song... E sei o que estou a dizer pq sou português :)

  • e desde quando é que se pode ir a eurovisão com covers ? ? ? ...

  • Since so many ppl covered you'd think ONE of them would have had a hit with such a great song!

  • tracey ullmans is more catchy. This one is plain.

  • only you

    care for stereo sound

  • tracey ullman version is a lot better by far it's fantastic listen to the 12" version check out her songs on you tube

  • I'm a fan of Tracy......but she would never had a hit with this tune if wasn't for the All Ameican Girl Sandy Posey.

  • I've never heard this by either artist, but it's great by Sandy!

  • GREAT! Thanks, man!

  • best one ever

  • Great song, far better than the Tracey Ullmann version.

  • Sandy's songs are so good

  • I love this song! This song has been covered by numerous artists all over the world! It was written by John Loudermilk, who happens to be one of my favorite songwriters!

  • yeah my mum did that it is one of my only memorys playing in the garden with this, or patsy cline, crystal gayle or tammy wynette, happy days

  • this song brings me back to my childhood,my mum would play it full blast while doing the house work :)

  • I love this song.

  • i thank my mum for introducing me to this!

  • SANDY POSEY Original Classic Sunglasses 1967

is totally SUPERIOR to the pale T.Ullman 1984

  • excellent :-)

  • Just Brilliant

  • all sandy; songs are class

  • Maybe I got used to hearing Tracey Ullman's version too much, but I like the 1984 cover version better because it has a more powerful, Phil Spector-style arrangement that makes this sound IMHO a bit weak in comparison. A very catchy tune however!

  • I like both versions, as well as Skeeter Davis's RCA single. Very memorable tune...

  • Wow - surely a contender for an All Time Great!!!

  • @JRam365 my mum as well

  • @JRam365 my mum as well she also loved single girl

  • I love this song. My mum played this all the time. Cheers!!!!!!!
