Episode 25 and 26 of Macross Frontier I now get the little nod to it that Alto's YF-25 does to Ranka and Sheryl turning to Batroid and saluting same as Ichigo did here...
I think the song in Robotech "We will win" is more fitting to a battle than "Do you remember love" In Macross the songs in later incarnations (Macross 2 included) are very upbeat and more to the pace of a battle.
"We will win" Lynn minmay? Is that how you spell it? Anyway I think that's the son your looking for. Haven't heard the song since I was like twelve but it was it's pretty hypnotizing you can't really forget it. Only took a little searching and I found it.
@panaceaartist There were 2 songs. The first was "Barukirii de Sasotte (Riding in Your Valkyrie)" , the second was "Ima wa Tomodachi (For Now a Friend / Only a Friend)", both sung by Tomoyo Sato.
@grabarc thanks for the tip on the macross 2 airshow songs, but I was wrong, neither of those songs is the one i'm thinking of. this song may have been a battle song, it had a sense of urgency, and was dramatic sounding. anyway, thnx for your help.
Either you're joking, or you don't know jack about Macross. For your information, that woman's name is Minmay, and she's not out of her mind. Her singing is part of the humans' battle plan. They're broadcasting her song to the aliens they're fighting, because those aliens have never heard music before and the sound of it confuses the hell out of them. With the aliens confused, that gives the humans the upper hand. The strategy may sound strange, but it works.
You have a point there. Of course, the difference is that in Macross music and love just DISTRACTS the enemy. You need lasers and missiles to actually beat them.
@zvermilyer3 Doesn't hurt, either, that the Macross's shield systems blow up big time when they're overloaded.
And somehow the Macross survived it, too, despite that it took out a fleet of several million Zentradi warships, all several times the size of the puny Macross.
Wow...I first heard this song on this music video that I got along with some Kimagure Orange Road parody I traded for back in the early 90's. Took me forever to figure out the name of this song too! :-)
Oh man, I downloaded this off Kazaa literally 10 years ago. God help me, I still love it.
When will SF rightfully take its place in culture back from fantasy? I never liked, and am now even sicker, of swords, zombies, and vampires - Nothing compares to a sky filled with clashing armadas lit by explosions and the blue glow of their interplanetary prize, framed above its swirling clouds and the glowing sliver of its atmosphere.
Holy cow... That pop singer must be like the bravest person ever to stand in the middle of a huge space battle, exposed to the perils of space to sing a kickass song to encourage everyone... Sweet!
I just finished the Robotech Series... but this is not what happened in this episode... so what exactly is this from? An OVA or something? The animation, not the music.
@GRr01 Thank you sir. I actually just watched it today. Great movie, beautiful animation... but, I think this song was way better for the scene! haha.
Sorry, but you did an injustice to this wonderful piece of animation, by not using the music intended for it. The song you use is good, but not for this piece of animation.
@kyokogodai Macross does it injustice in the series too by having her gleefully "Kyun kyun"ing over it. That's one place where Robotech is absolutely better: Using "We Will Win" instead of happy pop songs.
@TheBilly Totally disagree with you. Those of us, around my age, found the english dub a piece of trash. It still is. "We Will Win" absolutely sucks. The woman that "sang" that song(whose name escapes me) absolutely sucked! Perhaps if it were re-done, by a proper singer, I might chance my stance. Remember, back when Carl Macek produced Robotech, there were no true "actors/singers" that would do voice overs of anime. We Will Win blows, without a doubt!
@kyokogodai Good for you that you disagree, but you have nothing in your post that isn't completely arbitrary opinion. You don't like it. Great, some people like this, other people don't. Doesn't matter how crusty you are, your fickle whims don't get better with age. It doesn't fit the scene, and you can throw all the angry adjective at it you want.
@kyokogodai personally I agree with THeBilly, I think "we will win" was a lot better than what they origanally had in the TV sires which was the same song for pink dragon pincess (or what ever that movie that they had on the show) which made no since and did not inspire confidence. also I consider robotech and macross two alternit universes and should be considerd as such. now I will admit that I was born in the early 80's and watched robotech on TV when I was a kid.
no joda e buscado el tema de esa cancion y no lo e encontrado si alguien lo sabe me puede dar el nombre xq dicen q es remenber love pero no es ya busque y no lo es
SWEET I have been looking for this video for years. Do you happen to have the other video that was done by this same person, the song was 'Faaji na Itami'
Macross did a terrible job of predicting the future. Even now you wouldn't have just one idol on stage, but at least 48.
