jouer super bien à la guitare électrique,et jadore cette pédale,je viend de l'acheter aujourd'ui,elle ma couter que 55 Euro super les sons ,encore bravo,à bientot de la part de Didier de la belgique en europe.
I have this pedal and I never, ever put the tone or distortion past 50% (though sometimes I do put the distortion at about 2o'clock on occasion) because I hate the harsh sound you get when it goes any higher than that. I use the pedal to boost solos.
@yipkiyay0 ok, here's some tips. Kurt used a DS-1, & an Electro Harmonix Small Clone. I've considered getting the DS-1, if you want a cheap decent, authentic Nirvana sound, get the DS-1, but if you want a heavy general grunge sound get a Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion pedal, or a Digitech Grunge Pedal.
No, because this gives the oppurtunity to be playing something on a clean setting, then go into a rock chorus with the pedal, instead of going to your amp and re-setting it.
& the pedals that were introduced after it like "Metal zone" OR others were Not as Heavey. theres plenty of Metal Guitarist that use the DS-1. How long have you been into music? 1 year?
I dont know what to do with this pedal!! is not distorted enought to be a distortion pedal and is so crunchy to be an overdrive!!( yeah, i know it isnt an overdrive but it sound more like this kind of pedal) its making me so fucking crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can you have more gain with less than half the volume? The DC resistance of my strat vs ibanez bridge pickups is 5.8K vs 16.6K :) But what I mean is, especially this pedal sounds a lot better with humbuckers imho. Having the pedal tone above 45% is horrible, so plugging in a strat will only make it worse ;) I just had to comment this as all online demo's of this pedal sound nowhere good or even the same compared to the huge sound I get out of it O.o
look at how high you set your guitar pickups. The closer it is to the string, the louder it gets. and most ibanez i see here has a built in preamp, which i do not like because i have to change batteries all the time. I do not know about the computations or numbers how to measure it but they sound much louder than my Sg.
Nah, I don't like actives neither, so I don't have them. You can check it using a multimeter. Put it in the 20kOhm range and measure the DC resistance between the 2 endpoints of the pickup. if you don't want to open your guitar, toggle to the pickup, open the volume/tone controls completely, and put a cable in your guitar so you can measure the resistance between the cable its tip and sleeve. More resistance means the pickup has more windings; more windings produces more output :-)
It does? Got to try that then... but not the boss compressor; in my opinion, it sucks. Both before and after any distortion unit, i just can't make that pedal sound like any youtube review :o
Depends on what amp you're using (wattage, impedance, solid-state/tube, etc), what pick-ups you got on your guitar, what cables you're using, other pedals you have in your chain, power supply (batteries/AC Adapter/etc), and a lot more.
I'd suggest getting a BOSS NS-2 Noise Suppressor for eliminating noise, keep threshold high and decay low. And if you're gonna play live or in the studio, it'd be a safe bet to use a Direct Box with that as well, to eliminate ground hum.
yep, depends on what equipment you use - as has been stated. if you are just using this through the clean channel of a small SS amp using single coils it is not going to sound as heavy as using it through a jcm 800 which is breaking up with a guitar with EMGs.
would this work for some iron man stuff or black sabbath songs like Crazy Train? I can hear GnR in here, but what about the others? I'm going to get it but I'm not sure if I'll like it or not
Is it worth it. I have a les paul standard(epiphone). I play alot of ACDC and GNR and stuff like that. Could this pedal deliever that type of distortion sound?

Humbucker pickups work really well with the meaty tones of this pedal, especially with the distortion knob cranked all the way.

maybe you have a low gain guitar. . . .try playing ds1 in a ibanez or fender guitar
JohnDexterSantos 2 years ago 2
indeed ... I don't understand why they keep putting up demo's using strats ... it sounds a lot fuller and better using high output humbuckers.
Sick1982 2 years ago 2
they use strats because it can bring out more gain on a pedal. strats also have brighter tone than humbuckers.
JohnDexterSantos 2 years ago

part from a jaguar with hummers
jamesstone123 2 years ago 2
sorry, my bad. . . .
I only own a new fender and a very old Gibson and the fender sounds louder. I think my Gibson is broken coz its really old, i'm getting it fixed.

its designed not to have too much distortion to keep its tone from breaking too much. this pedal sounds better when you use a compressor before it..

does your amp ever make a crackling noise when you engage your ds-1
