in latest polls america is doing better than ever, real estate up across america, most wealth in america, canada is doing best in the world, all I see are brand new homes, new suvs, new cars, malls full,Im not sure I see this ?
hang in there. I own a corporate restaurant chain and it's a make or break season for me. I am counting on tourist and hoping someone will buy the building and land.
The business is now not making any money and my savings are almost wiped out. I just want to hang on enough to get rid of it.
Sadly we employ about 25 folks in a town that have a population of 10K. That's gonna hurt.
I have been self-employed in TX for 15 years, with customers sending me work from all over the US by UPS, but in Nov my business fell to zero. I have extremely low overhead because I work out of my home and have no rent and no car payments, but I still need to pay property taxes, you know, and I still need to eat once in a while.
I believe the decline is rapid and that we are about half way down. After you lose your job, there is nothing to go to.
thanks again for the video. things are rough in PA too, sales are wayyy down. even the mall is like a graveyard. its VERY rough in southern california, i guess i should count my blessings
A landmark Italian restaurant in San Diego just went out of business after 40 years. The in the final hour relatives stepped up and injected the money needed to keep it open (for the moment).
We have went back ten years in sales. The problem is all of our cost have not gone down with it. They are just getting worse, not a good recipe for a job recovery
this trimester i was given half the hours i had last trimester, thing is i was already part time last trimester so what am i now a quarter time employee?
Our local paper reported today that in two area schools, over half the children qualify and receive either free or reduced-fee lunches. One school was at 50% and the other 55%. That was just amazing to me. Also, in the cafeteria of the hospital where I work we have (4) Salvation Army toy drop boxes. Usually they have to come empty those boxes at least twice before the campaign ends Dec. 23rd. Not this year. They are just now just starting to get full. Sad.
Beyond sad, I thought by this late stage in the game I would be seeing people ripping up their useless lawns, planting gardens... helping out more on a practical level. I thought for sure the apathy would turn to productivity and more conscientious work. Not sure if people are really grasping the gravity of our situation.
It's tough all over. Lots of restaurants are making it just week to week. Those upper-scale ones with a wine list practically have a sucking chest wound.
Situation is Fubar my friend. There are rumours they are pulling 1.5 trillion in liquidity in possible reverse-repos in the first two weeks of Jan. This could potentially raise interest rates somewhat, and collapse whatever fake recovery they were smoking about. Yes, I can see riot, and civil war break out. Things gonna get ugly, and the bankers know it too. I hope people will bring out the tar, feathers, and boiled ropes back out, and go after the right people-Bankers,and D.C. Politicians.
I hear you man. I am starting to see "mob" activity. Businesses closing and being "reopened" with out licneces, cash only, etc. I think a black market is starting here. Mostly because the city and the state doesn't have the money to keep any eye on every business. It's like the 1970's again, in NYC.
I live near Buffalo. The taxes here are killing people. If people are doing business "under the table" in order to not taxes, I do not blame them. If that is what it takes to put food on the table then fine with me.
I am not reffering to that. It is more like Gangster activity. The own left the store because of 12 months back rent. The landlord hired these "Thugs" to sell this man's remaining food items and pocket the money himself. Guess who gets the tax bill. The starving fellow who needed his rent reduced, not the landlord. That is what I am talking about.

I Live in california. I know scare mongering when I hear it. It doesn't get any worse than California. You doom and gloomers are going to be in for a huge wake up call when you realize the economy has been recovering since August. Its time to wipe that egg off your face before you have to wipe off even more the longer you wait to realize this.
Regardless of your statement, my offer still stands. I am more than willing to walk you across the street from my business and show you what is going on.
OK so one street doesn't represent all of new york or even NYC for that matter. Taking ancedotal evidence and putting it widespread is the definition of scaremongering.
DId I say "Wide Spread"? No, I didn't. I said, near me. I think you need to react less and pay attention more. You make disparaging comments to someone then, you, redefine your statement. That is not a good way to make friends and influence people.
"recovering since August" Do you have any real statistical evidence? because it wouldnt have anything to do wih jobs, GDP, defecits, dollar, foreclosures, loan defaults etc.....just keep "believing"
Most of the stuff you mentioned are Lagging indictators. GDP is up, thats the only one out of the list that counts because its not a lagging indicator. :)
You obviously do not live in the states most effected by this. I live in Miami and have a business in Se bring. When there is a 7 billion shortfall for the state and business owners are hanging by a thread (my case) it doesn't look pretty.
I suppose you are a business owner and can say that sales have improved?
BTw your state is the among the 1st to go under. Florida will follow shortly so it gives me no pleasure to say you are a koolaid drinker.
BTW I am a self employed business owner and believe it or not sales actually are the highest they have ever been for the last few months. So for me the recession ended a few months ago.
What type of business are you in? I know some businesses ARE up, like the ones where they go in and clean out foreclosed homes for banks and mortgage companies. Those guys are VERY busy right now.
@TheCassandraReview I'm 19 and, in Miami, attending Miami Made North Campus, College. I still can't find a part-time job. Hialeah is SHIT for jobs. Miami beach mostly only has bartending jobs. Northern Miami, well, they have SOME. This really sucks for me..
the more i see real people talking speaking the reality of it, the more i get annoyed and upset about the sheeple...america has really been spoiled stupid and rotten, de-sensitized to actual thinking....it seems like it's making its way to close in on us within the next coming year
