The late late show comes after the late show with David Letterman. That's where they got the name. I don't think they were looking to rip anyone off.

I could make the same argument for America's Next Top Model vs. Germany's Next Top Model vs. Britain's Next Top Model, etc.

Don't forget- they're completely different. Craig is nightly on weekdays after the late show. Making the argument you have to count all late talk shows as rip offs. Currently we have 3+ different late shows.
