Will the Govt refund what I have paid into SS if we get rid of it?
My take... many paid into SS.. why does the Govt use it to pay for their deficit in other programs? Hence Bill Clinton balanced his Budget using the proceeds of SS... how do you explain this?
Social Security COLAs overstate inflation? BULLCRAP! The CPI is a fraud! I stopped listening when I began hearing blatent lies! Solutions based on lies are not a solution.
save your own retirement fund.. put it in IRA gold/silver .. that way if the US Economy flunks ur money will be protected. Start buying it over time and hold onto it. It protects your money from inflation and might go very high in price.
Key is.. buy something REAL. don't keep your money in a bank as fiat currency. That will be the first to go if our economy tanks.
@SomeTallGy Yeah, that is what they said when everyone was buying houses! Buy a house, it is something REAL. Just remember that "REAL" things can lose value too. You need to diversify yourself and not just hold silver, because if the next generation has little use for that metal it's value will decline.
Social Security is a Ponzi scheme, and it cannot be salvaged. You people who expect to get benefits from Social Security in your old age will be DISAPPOINTED!
This is such bull. SS is barely in deficit, and simply removing the cap entirely would enable you to make a small tax CUT across the board and balance SS in perpetuity.
The problem is the government has looted the fund and doesn't care to put the money back. Well, the robbers must simply create the money, not borrow it form the Fed, just follow the constitution, article 5, section 8 to 'coin money' as Lincoln did to fund the Civil War. Are things worse now than during the Civil War? No.
What about looking at the monetary system? Why do we accept a debt based currency and why are we beholden to a central bank? Focusing on spending is important, but, how about we look at the entire system.

@cobrafia09 Any proof of this, or just your word? Because they have sources, and statistics, and math, and graphs.
And you have text on a screen. I wonder who I'll believe.

@RodCornholio I'm here to say no it's not. The millennials will do what the boomers and gen X were to lazy and scared to do.
