  • is it possible to get it from your site... i live in republic of Croatia??!! Please, its hard to get it here.

  • Yes, I send them all over the world. Go to Kalimba Magic online - or send me a message. -Mark Holdaway

  • i love Kalimba. im waiting for 2 hugh tracey kalimbas to be posted. I cant wait to try this tuning

  • This sounds like it's tuned in a harmonic minor key

  • @ThreeARKs could be phrygian dominant. aka "jewish scale"

  • @IrishLebaneseBeast

YES ..THATS THE MOST AMAZING THING ABOUT THE KALIMBA; IT REALLY IS A WORLD INSTRUMENT VIBE!

  • Wow beautifully tuned and played. I can no longer resist buying one of these amazing kalimbas. We only have little cheap ones in the house.

  • ^_^ ♫♬♪

  • Love it, but I cant seem to find the tunning for the alto on your website, only the treble.

  • Pretty nice man, how much do those go for?

  • They cost a bit over one hundred dollars - expensive for a little box, but inexpensive for a real musical instrument. -Mark

  • @kalimbamagic

But its worth the money they are 10 times better then the ones that cost $40 !

i LOVE MY ELECTRIC ALTO KALIMBA ,,IT REALLY MADE ME A HAPPIER PERSON; AND THATS AMAZING CONSIDERING THESE CRAZY TOUGH TIMES!

  • i really enjoy your work and visit the website often, you make me wish i had one! do you have anything kinda mysterious, rythmic and adventurous anywhere? i'd love to hear it!

  • I thought these were mostly percussive back-up instruments, or at worse, musical "toys"! You've made me realize just how expressive and "out front" these can be. I've never heard a virtuoso on a Kalimba before. Thank you for posting! ~Jon

  • Thanks for the great comment!

My kalimba philosophy: pretend they are real instruments and see how far you can take them.

  • @kalimbamagic im quoting that if thats ok with you

  • Sure - where are you quoting me?

  • @kalimbamagic i have no idea yet but i want to get one at that's just an awesome thing to say if someone doubts why i have that

  • @FlyingHorseKnuckles Earth Wind and Fire may be the most popular "modern" group that has featured the kalimba on many songs.

  • You can pull each note down about a whole step, and upwards they can go several steps - 3 or 4 steps at least - but recently I retuned a G Alto into a G pentatonic, keeping the same bottom note - so the top note went from a G up to an E.

    Best of luck! -Mark

  • What are the specific notes it is tuned to? It looks like a fun scale to mess around with.

  • You can find out the actual notes by going to my Kalimba Magic website and searching for

    "middle eastern tuning" -Mark

  • thats pretty cool make a video on how to do it
