This is the game that made me want to get a console again. AC4 on the PS2 and AC6 are epic games, with an epic music score. If they came to PC my life would be complete, but for now I borrow my friends PS3 at every opportunity.
Ace Combat 6 made me feel like more of a hero than anything else in any game ever. If felt fantastic. This track is one of those things I listen to once in a while just to keep that drive of mine going strong.
04 got me into the ace.combat..series but ah just idk what to say fked it up.dfm modes. easy to get into but hard to get out of+ also u need to have to practice to get a counter move correctly; for me this is easy and I sick of playing this because I get ace pilot 9 out of 10 times of joining a lobby and that people "hover" over an area and camp and fire long ranged missiles not saying they are hard to kill they r easy but is it some mod or glitch they need to patch it its kinda annoying
I'm slightly inclined towards the same opinion. Story of this game wasn't the greatest. Though it wasn't a completely trainwreck, unlike some modern games. I'll bet most people dislike this just because they got stuck at either the Pasternak fight, or the heavy command cruiser. An Su-33 with rockets is your friend for the latter, and the Rafale M with SAAM is your friend for Pasternak. Even on Ace.
Im sorry, but i have to say that I REALLY disliked Fires of Liberation...........

I really hope there are still a few remaining fans of Ace Combat 04 out there.....
That was by far the best Ace Combat game to ever be created. It's story didnt make the game feel cheesy and fake, and in the final mission, to hear an entire Mobius squadron sound off behind you, flying against an army of Yellow fighters, you cant help but feel Bad@**
@xXAUTUMNofSOLACEXx I actually like The Unsung War's story the best. Shattered Skies's was good, but The Unsung War's story was by far the best. There was real characterization and after being labeled as the Demons of Razgriz, you felt like a monumental badass.
The AC franchise has hands-down the best music scores in video games. If I ever become a movie producer, I'm contacting these people in Japan to do the soundtrack.

The "strangereal" world they created is actually one of the main aspects why we love this series so much, and one of various reasons why not few people are sceptical about the way some of the handheld games and Assault Horizon have gone. As for the controls, I think they are pretty easy, you just got to get the hang of it. Missiles are usually best fired in a straight line to the enemy, just wait for them to fly either right away from or right towards you.
I just find it a bit sad these games weren't released on the PC. It would have been a kickass game. Not to mention that PC's have the best line-up of flight-sim joysticks(I just find the dualshocks or XBox-controllers too fiddly when it comes to flightsims, they work on racing sims but not flightsims IMO).
I'm not sure if the PC is the right platform for these games. They are a lot more arcade than simulation. I'm sure the PC has it's own, real flight simulations.
Yes PC's have their own flightsims. But the thing is those are real hardcore flightsims like Il2, LO:MAC, DCS A10 or X-Plane. Now what all those have in common is a really steep learning curve (and bazillions of controls to mimic the real-life cockpit with trim, fuel management and so on)
The only arcadish flightsim on PC's that's any good that I've come across is H.A.W.X.
I just find it sad that either it's full sim or full arcade on the PC without any in-between types.
This game made me feel like i had a reason to fight, for the people who had died fighting alongside me and for the land that we must liberate from the enemy who attacked us. In ace combat 4 i remember that that game made me fall in love with the franchise and it made me feel as if i was truely a hero. as i fought alongside these other pilots i actually felt a bond, that they had my back and i had theirs. This is truely a game to remember.

The only thing that Aces Assault Horizon lacked for me was that period of loss at first that made you feel the need for revenge like what was had in Aces 5 and Aces Zero. I will likely get myself and XBox 360 just so i can play this Aces 6 though. ^_^ I started my Aces conquest with Ace Combat 2 and have gone forward from there. I did play Air Combat but that game had so much lacking I just couldn't finish it.

@Jwend392 The didn't abandon it. The reason it's in the real world is because the game is, much like Joint Assault, a spin off from the main series. It's written by someone completely different. That's why it's "Ace Combat Assault Horizon" and not, "Ace Combat 7"
If they continue the series(which they better) I would bet that Ace Combat 7 takes place in the Ace Combat world.
@xxVidofnirxx Yeah if you notice, all the "numbered" Ace Combats have taken place in Strangereal (name of the AC world). AC7 will probably go back to a war preceding AC3's.
@speedenforcer918 No it didn't, it also doesn't have any of that replay ability that AC 6 had for me. Assault Horizon is a good rental but beyond that there isn't much to hold you, go to Hastings and rent it if you can.
Love the song and the game. I've played, owned and beten every Ace combat at one poind in time except for this one and the one they made ofr the game boy advance. I've just bought Assault Horizon and have had enought time to play throught the first 6 missions, if you have any doughts about buying the game let me tell you it looks and plays as good as the trailer, only gripe is that I have yet to run in to a song as greate as this one but I have only scraced the surface of the game.
i was wondering, do you recall waht ace combat/ which mission it is that you have a white version of like the SR-71 blackbird? And another mission you have re-entry into the atmosphere to not burn up and stuff. i'm a real fan and haven't played the oldies in like 5 years and wanna remember which ones!

The only AC game I have played so far was ACX on the PSP, and I absolutely loved it. The sense of elegance and grace as you soar through the skies, the fantastic score underlining the action, the atmosphere, everything was magnificent.
And yet, I couldn't enjoy it to the fullest extent because it kept making me dizzy to the point of getting panic attacks. That despite this I still had to beat the game is a testament to its greatness—but a death sentence to further ventures into this series. ;_;
I haven't played any of the others, but I would imagine this one to be the best. Not because it has the most recent stuff, but because it's a part of my generation. This is the game I'm playing in high school, so...

@thevindicaresbrother : Ace Combat 5 - The Unsung War was fantastic as well as Ace Combat Zero. Zero was a bit of a mix up as doing different parts of missions got you different cutscenes that actually interviewed opposing pilots that you shot down.
Even though i really liked fires of liberation, i thought the plot was pretty cheesy in some parts... And i still have to stand by saying Ace Combat 4: Shattered skies WAS, IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE, the best flying game ever devised by mankind.
After I've died and been placed in a massive amount of amber that's coagulated around my whole body. I'm shot out into space in a small capsule to infinity and beyond perhaps opening my eyes once again after a few millions lightyears and during the launch this song is played :D
Finally got to this level! I love this game. Although to be honest, Ace Combat Zero is my personal favorite. I will get you Pixy!

@Jwend392 The didn't abandon it. The reason it's in the real world is because the game is, much like Joint Assault, a spin off from the main series. It's written by someone completely different. That's why it's "Ace Combat Assault Horizon" and not, "Ace Combat 7"
If they continue the series(which they better) I would bet that Ace Combat 7 takes place in the Ace Combat world.

@xxVidofnirxx Yeah if you notice, all the "numbered" Ace Combats have taken place in Strangereal (name of the AC world). AC7 will probably go back to a war preceding AC3's.

@speedenforcer918 No it didn't, it also doesn't have any of that replay ability that AC 6 had for me. Assault Horizon is a good rental but beyond that there isn't much to hold you, go to Hastings and rent it if you can.

Love the song and the game. I've played, owned and beten every Ace combat at one poind in time except for this one and the one they made ofr the game boy advance. I've just bought Assault Horizon and have had enought time to play throught the first 6 missions, if you have any doughts about buying the game let me tell you it looks and plays as good as the trailer, only gripe is that I have yet to run in to a song as greate as this one but I have only scraced the surface of the game.

And another mission you have re-entry into the atmosphere to not burn up and stuff. i'm a real fan and haven't played the oldies in like 5 years and wanna remember which ones!

The only AC game I have played so far was ACX on the PSP, and I absolutely loved it. The sense of elegance and grace as you soar through the skies, the fantastic score underlining the action, the atmosphere, everything was magnificent.
And yet, I couldn't enjoy it to the fullest extent because it kept making me dizzy to the point of getting panic attacks. That despite this I still had to beat the game is a testament to its greatness—but a death sentence to further ventures into this series. ;_;

I haven't played any of the others, but I would imagine this one to be the best. Not because it has the most recent stuff, but because it's a part of my generation. This is the game I'm playing in high school, so...

@thevindicaresbrother : Ace Combat 5 - The Unsung War was fantastic as well as Ace Combat Zero. Zero was a bit of a mix up as doing different parts of missions got you different cutscenes that actually interviewed opposing pilots that you shot down.

Even though i really liked fires of liberation, i thought the plot was pretty cheesy in some parts... And i still have to stand by saying Ace Combat 4: Shattered skies WAS, IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE, the best flying game ever devised by mankind.
