They advertised a contest with their ad on t.v. and when you call them, they ask your income. they wouldn't let me ENTER the contest or show up because we didn't make enough money. If this isn't the stupidest argument for Direct Buy from 'marwanagraw.' It's true it's a free country, and you can screw anyone legally, without any consideration for others--rich or poor. Direct buy is not for poor people, you can save up to 30% to 50% . if you plan on buying a $500 fridge, then the most you can save is $250. The thing is there are fridges that cost $4500.That means you can save up to $2250. If you have the money and were planning to buy expensive things then its worth joining. I just bought a home and have many things to buy. To make things short direct buy is not for everyone! If your not going to buy expensive things whats the point of saving 50% of $100?

A few years ago, me and my fiance went to Direct Buy and thought it might be good for us if we bought a house. We were pressured and signed up, but I wasn't feeling good about it afterwards. By law, we had a 3 day cooling off period (which they don't tell you) and we cancelled the contract.

Direct Buy ISN'T for MOST AVERAGE people. I learned a good lesson and got out fast enough. Unless you plan on spending HUGE money, you'll never break even, let alone make it back in savings.

Husband and I went to Direct Buy's "party" yesterday. The employees were quite friendly AT FIRST. After a 1-hour group meeting, an assigned salesman gave each couple a tour of the building.Then, seated at a desk, we were told we had to fork out $5,000 ON THE SPOT. Do not do business with this location! (or any for that matter) The owner likes to "show you the way out" if you bring a child who is ten years of age due to their "limited seating policy." It is a understatement to say that the owner was RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and we have never been discriminated due to having children. I was pretty amazed until I saw that there is a $49 shipping cost JUST FOR THAT ONE GAME (which is, by the way, also the in-store price of the game). Also you are you have to pay them no matter what. The contract you signed you can't get out. They only let you get out three day after you sign the contract. But after that three days you are obligated to pay all that is finance contract or unless you don't pay and get bad credits and your case be sent to a collecting agency

The 3 day thing is a 'cooling off' period that many States had to initiate in to law because of the hundreds of complaints from citizens who felt they were pressured into a scam. BreathDoctor- you're wrong- in some States, the initiation fee is double what you're saying ($5000 for 3 yrs!). Only way to stop them is to put these greedheads out of business. Just tell everyone to google 'directbuy scam', to read THOUSANDS of complaints from scammed directbuy members. Thanks for putting this video up

You have to actualy buy stuff that you can verify the price difference. Not everything is cheaper.

*EVERYTHING* is cheaper. There is no breaking of this rule. It's impossible not to be cheaper than directly from the factory. No exceptions. Either you want COST or you don't. Sure, there is freight to get it to you. But if a couch off the assembly line is $1000..your local furn store can only go as low as $1000+freight (they freight too) before they sell at cost or loss.  Your best luck $1500, "clearance", IF they want to get rid of it. But it will be $2500 for the bulk of time!

There is not such thing as direct buy from the factory.

As a business owner some time ago I tried to get my products at a lower price, so I started direct at the top. I called the factory (Firestone) which told me that they don't sell to me and they gave a regional distributor's number which I called. Again I heard the same thing that they don't sell me the materials because they sell only to local distributors and if I want I can call CRS to buy my materials from, the store I used to shop at.

They never have any of the goods in stock; you order them from the catalogue, and often they come from the US. You are then obliged to pay duties, brokerage fees, handling charges, etc.

Want cheaper prices? Just shop in the US. Menard's has a lot of the same type of stuff, but is much cheaper.

Joining fee in Ottawa is $6000 Cdn.

At best their practises are unethical and

I can tell you about Direct Buy.

I live in Quebec where it is bannned, however, we were solicited and went to Ottawa which is 100 miles from Montreal.

We had an appointment but were not allowed to see any of the catalogs until after we were interviewed.

The lady interviewing us was a former Quebecois and was very helpful.

When she found out that we were only buying about $1500 she said it's not for you. Her words: "Finish your coffee and leave without any comment"
