"There is a common thread that runs between us all … We all have the same desire to be valued regardless of where we come from or what we may be going through, and to love the people most important in our lives and that is our connection to each other.” ~ Oprah
They need to make more movies like this, not all that meaningless comedy shit theyve been shoving down our throats lately. Movies were meant to inspire us, not to waste 2hours of our lifes. DIRECTORS MAKE SOMETHING MEANINGFUL AGAIN!
This reminds me of one of my teachers, she helped me so much, she played games, did everything, and most of all, She actually cared,I wish I can see her again , She was the best teacher I ever had . She even told a counselor friend of her to help me and my sister out with our family problems and other things, I miss you Mam . Thank you for helping me out and caring for me so much =)
This past year I had an english teacher named Ms.Culver and she taught us more then english she taught us about life and beleiveing in our dreams. One day we played this game and it brought everyone so much closer. She was exactly like that teacher age, personality everything and she recently passed. Rip Ms.Culver< 3 Everytimeyour student watch this scene we'll think of you.
america is not compensating for anything, its called progress. What is significant isn't that we voted in a black president, but that a black man was the one person a majority of americans WANTED as president.
What definitely WONT help us move forward is the constant negative attitude of people who simply choose not to try to move forward, and just sit and complain about how bad it still is. You're not helping anyone.
i love freedom writers... in our english classe we get do do something named "skype" we get to talk to the original freedom writers through a a webcam every friday......and we olay some of the games they play!!!!
this movie is great, and i loved this scene as well. this version, however, sucks balls when it comes to quality. it skipped about 50 times, and the subtitles were annoying.
thanks for putting up this video, but I just have to say that the grey boxes that write what she's saying are incredibly annoying. It gets in the way of the scene.
Sad thing is, they were only 14-15 yrs old. Even sadder thing is, this is based on a true story, and it happened only a little over 10 yrs ago. Racism is not diminished just because we voted obama for president; that happened because America is in denial, America is overcompensating. What happened at the Holocaust museum is an example of that. We are looking for fast and simple solutions and we might even live to regret that.
@radioactivexkid yeah.....you know when this happened, it happened in 75% of Americans' lives today, and over 50% of americans was actually old enough to remember this. So yeah...it's not really that long ago if you think about it that way
@uiluj13 dude, i live around this area. i know people, TEACHERS, to be specific, who knew this lady. the actual freedom writers came to my city to do a speech on this stuff. things HAVE changed in 18 years, and the stuff they show is just hollywood anyways. chill out i wasnt tryna argue =P
although obama probably isnt going to completely stop rasism, I belive it is a step foward to have him as president, and its going to take not just one person but all of of us, and it IS possible (:
@beanergurl123 It may not sound like it from my last comment, but I'm actually a positive guy, so I'm all for hope and all that shiet :) but yeah, obama may be the first colored man to be president, but right now according to polls, he isn't exactly our favorite president at the moment. So we gotta stop and think "has this become one step forward and two steps back?"
Your point was illustrated perfectly with Louis Armstrong. We sent him around the nation during the Cold War to erase and mask the claims that America was a racist nation, which the Soviets loved to capitalize on. With Armstrong, his music (while great) wasn't the point. We were able to sport the fact that "Hey, everyone, look! We've got a black guy! We're not racist, don't listen to the Soviets... we've got a black guy!"
@RonnieBrewerFan well, louis armstrong's life and work was because of his own talent and passion. if anything, it brought more racism if you consider the rise of blue-eyed soul.
but yeah, most everyone is disappointed in obama now, because of the stupid compensating thing, their expectations were unrealistic and they forgot obama is strictly a democrat.

why subtitles???
robbinkarlsson 1 year ago 2
well common sense, the subtitles, are there because the video is skipping, and obviously understand what is being said.
realityfanlove 1 year ago
maybe, but as many people are saying here the skipping is annoying as it is, and the subtitles just adds on...
But don't misunderstand me, I loved the movie, it almost made me cry and I don't cry to this kind of movies so it's a great film :)
