Professionals say the magnum 000 Buck fired from a 3” Judge is about twice as effective as a 40 caliber S&W. The Judge is one of the best car and home defense weapons made. Even though it is not designed for CCW, it can be done. Those who bad mouth it are not speaking from experience.

I was really about to get this pistol but after a lot of R&D the .410 does not have enough stopping power but taurus has sure done a good job at marketing it
@kalzx it doesnt have the stoppage of say a 12 gauge or even a regular 410 stotgun but that isnt the point. this gun is tailored to shoot shot shells in a way that makes the spread most useful in a close combat situation. Its designed for you to not miss, and with the extrmemly fine shot size that is available in 410 one can cause tremendous pain and damage to the target without being as lethal as shooting small caliber pistol

What surprises me about my Judge is how accurate it is with .45 LC rounds. This is a great hunting pistol as well. (Check your local laws for minimum barrel length requirements!) A friend of mine took one on a dove shoot and got some birds close up.

@cadumal I like light revolvers to, especially for a trail gun. But the Judge makes a decent snake gun and for it's original purpose (it was first marketed as a anti-carjacker gun) I think it would serve.
That being said I happen to like my .410/.45 Survivor shotgun. Like you I am not interested in wrist punishing recoil.
To shoot (with a decent chance of hitting) snakes. Living in Arizona is nice, but there are enough "critters" around to make carrying a weapon that is effective in the 10 yard range really worthwhile. I carry a 9mm all the time and it gets in the way - then I think about what if I might need it and just shift it a few inches to be more comfy. :)
@strazzy3 Here in SC snake bites by poisonous snakes have increased over 50% Whether this is because more people are tromping through the woods or because development has removed a lot of snake predators is unknown but if I were to camp around here snakes would be my primary concern, then feral dogs then humans. The judge can be loaded to deal with all those threats and can be tucked into holster rather then lugged around like a shotgun.

I do not agree. If responsible citizens were allowed to carry loaded firearms with them at all times, those who would be "wild hairs" would be removed from the gene-pool rather quickly. You want a mentally unstable person or a felon to own a handgun? I don't think so. Law abiding citizens have the right to own a handgun, and cannot legally "shoot anyone at any given time". Only for self defense or to save a life. If you don't want to defend yourself or a loved one, that's your problem, but don't deny the rest of that right.

@kalzx it doesnt have the stoppage of say a 12 gauge or even a regular 410 stotgun but that isnt the point. this gun is tailored to shoot shot shells in a way that makes the spread most useful in a close combat situation. Its designed for you to not miss, and with the extrmemly fine shot size that is available in 410 one can cause tremendous pain and damage to the target without being as lethal as shooting small caliber pistol

What surprises me about my Judge is how accurate it is with .45 LC rounds. This is a great hunting pistol as well. (Check your local laws for minimum barrel length requirements!) A friend of mine took one on a dove shoot and got some birds close up.

@cadumal I like light revolvers to, especially for a trail gun. But the Judge makes a decent snake gun and for it's original purpose (it was first marketed as a anti-carjacker gun) I think it would serve.
That being said I happen to like my .410/.45 Survivor shotgun. Like you I am not interested in wrist punishing recoil.

To shoot (with a decent chance of hitting) snakes. Living in Arizona is nice, but there are enough "critters" around to make carrying a weapon that is effective in the 10 yard range really worthwhile. I carry a 9mm all the time and it gets in the way - then I think about what if I might need it and just shift it a few inches to be more comfy. :)

@strazzy3 Here in SC snake bites by poisonous snakes have increased over 50% Whether this is because more people are tromping through the woods or because development has removed a lot of snake predators is unknown but if I were to camp around here snakes would be my primary concern, then feral dogs then humans. The judge can be loaded to deal with all those threats and can be tucked into holster rather then lugged around like a shotgun.

@SuperSwampfoot Don't know if thats exactly true. From what I have seen there is a base level of crime with the only real variables being the general social and economic climate. What I'm saying is that crime rates don't alter depending on gun availability, only the weapons in the crimes vary. Look at the UK with their incredibly high knife crime rates vs. gun ownership... I guess my point is making wide sweeping statements can make us appear stupid and hurt the gun rights cause.

I do not agree. If responsible citizens were allowed to carry loaded firearms with them at all times, those who would be "wild hairs" would be removed from the gene-pool rather quickly. The basic problem is with parents who don't teach their children self respect and respect for others, and the only thing a firearm will do is bring a 100 pound girl into the same defense arena as a 300 pound 6'7" man. That kind of equalization is a good thing...
