  • Thank you for posting this beauty for us to enjoy. Is there a copy of the text that they are singing?

    Thanks again.

  • absolutely wonderful ~ thank you!

  • I'm in awe

  • Extraterrestri? Potreste invadere la terra, please?

  • Congratulations. It's an immensely successful, and utterly gorgeous transcription and performance, too. Best wishes, John Bell Young

  • the music is lovely, but the flashy transitions between the images are really annoying to me

  • im melting, this is sublime je suis en transe de mourir

esta delicadeza me mata en una dicha de beldad insoportable

  • Is there a download link anywhere?

  • are they singing lyrics?

  • So wonderful interpretation by lovely voices, I just love it♥

  • Que obra hermosa por Mahler. El coro esta maravilloso, especialmente los sopranos. Bravo! Muchas gracias.

  • I just dont think people appreciate the pure genious of composing something this beautifal. I mean seriously, I've tried song writting out of curiosity and it was literally impossible for me. Support the arts!!!!

  • I am so touched by this! Our chamber choir sang two Mahler transcriptions by Clytus Gottwald in 2010 - and I could just not imagine the Adagietto to be so perfectly suited for another 16-voices piece (16, I would guess, I do not know)!

The reason simply is: Human voice is the most complex instrument! Mahler composed for big orchestra because he had one. There is no reason for keeping at it.

  • Beautiful, but still I think this piece is indispensable from strings.

  • There is always controversy about transcriptions but Bach did it all the time. I have heard Bach done with steel drums, saxophone quartets, brass quintets, etc. A transcription shows that great music is not always dependent on the original instruments. Mahler did piano transcriptions of his symphonies. This is very beautiful.

  • I believe the portrait of Mahler was painted by Arnold Schoenberg while the bust was sculpted by Rodin.

  • Great! And Happy Birthday Mahler!

  • OH HEAVENS, this movement is always the highlight for me in this piece. MAHLER was a genius making these melodies, and harmonies.and i love this version, with the chorus. greeeeat tenor.

  • What about the text? Which text was used?

  • haha i started transcribing this for chorus, but apparently it's already been done :( but now i dont have to finish that giant craziness hahahaha. awesome awesome

  • couldn't you use a different crossfade option? I keep feeling someone is throwing bricks in my face !

  • i've heard vocal versions of orchestral music before, and it can work, and this piece is beautiful.

But i'm pretty sure mahler intended it to be just for strings....so lets keep it that way.

  • @Wisforwar I'm guessing he didn't, since it's a symphony movement. Didn't you ever notice the harp...?

  • @RussMoxham He obviously mean this movement just for strung instruments. Indeed, the harp, is a strung instrument.

  • Thanks for the post. Amazing music.

  • I'm breathless!!! unbelievable. thanks

  • absolutely fantastic ! some months ago i had seen more of this choir on ARTE, super super. what i appreciate most is that this choir sings without any vibrato. cristal clear notes. superb superb !!

  • Spectacularly terribly awesomely divine!!!

  • spectaculious!

    ...to quote our president

  • On s'en lasse jamais. Très émouvante cette transcription. Un des meilleurs enregistrements d'Accentus et de Laurence Equilbey.

  • I love it.... This is what I call Music!!!!

  • Very special the grafiti!Better than the vulgar things that are in my Chile!

What an interesting and beauty video, with a biography with images of the life of Mahler. The adagietto is full of peace and relax, always relax me.My favourite part is the central theme, this theme is repetaed in the finale.

  • Very unusual, quite different result from the original and very interesting. I liked the writings from Toronto in the beginning! If I may ask, the pictures are from G. Kaplan's edition?

    thanks for the post!
