@AJ627 they are completly different and the only thing they got together is that they both use prominent subbasslines and the mixing (problems) associated with those. DnB is an offspring of Jungle/2step, Dubstep is more an offspring of uk garage at half time with heavy subbasslines. Drum & Bass in slow motion (halftime) is drumstep which is today quite dominated by basically being brostep played 25% faster....

@Xenitic listen man. dubstep found its roots in a combination of drum&bass and uk garage. they have the same origin. halftime dnb also known as halftempo dnb is considered a variation on triphop which has the same rythm but is only half the speeds. In drumstep however there is no 2-step, aka the 1-3 2-3 rythm. That is why it has a different flow.
