Definitely going to give this a try, seen the other variation of looping as some have stated so going to try this first then the other to see if it makes a difference
You guys are correct, but going through the bottom "loop" is the only variation. I'm 30 and have been using this know both singly and doubled(depending on app) since I was about 4 or so. It's the first know my dad ever taught me, and has been my favorite for mono and flourocarbon.
I call this the Jimmy Houston knot. He made this knot on his TV show at least 20 years ago. I have been using it about that long. Strongest know I know.
You didn't go through the bottom loop closest to the hook first before pulling it through the loop held by your finger. This is NOT a San Diego Jam Knot.

Yeah he didn't go through the loop near the hook first then back to the top loop . This is NOT the double san diego
