  • SO SHED YOUR SKIN AND LETS GET STARTED. What a line

  • This is one of the best Australian song ever. What fuck stick would dislike it? Anonymous shits that whinge about everything...now pass me a VB and turn it up.

  • Always gives me goose bumps..so love this song

  • I wonder what made No. 1.

  • GREAT ONE!

  • love this song <3.

Basically because I used it on one of my vids lol

  • generic 240p we meet again status

  • Hunters & Collectors. the original and the best.

  • What a song . Just tops. From the old aussie.

  • This song has not aged.... it still invokes the same feelings for me at age 40 as it did when it was first released...in 86 when I was 15!!!! Love it!

  • I stumbled onto this band on wikipedia and when it started I was like "oh, more cheesy britpop..." and was about to click away but something about it locked me and compelled me to listen to me, it just kind of grows and becomes like this fusion of britpop and REM... this is great...

  • @kristina80ification britpop, BRITPOP

  • @kristina80ification

    Brtipop? Good grief! Australia's finest!

  • The live version is better. It isn't so 1,2,3,4 and again with the rythm. Hearing it live is like blood moving through a heart, warm with beats at the right times, not to a clock.

Google Mark Seymour live (the lead singer of H&C) get a bottle of good red, some tissues and listen to this song.

  • DAAS = Better

  • Hm I wonder what it'd be like if the Seymour brothers Mark and Nick had made an album...

  • Prefer the Doug Anthony All Stars version... Beautiful song!!

  • This was played at my Grandads funeral a few weeks ago now. R.I.P Norman (Grandad). im think im going to cry now. all the things that ive done with him. all those toys that he gave me and i loved and still do. R.I.P

im going to cry now :(

  • @Jacksoccer14 I'm sorry to hear about your loss - hope you are doing OK.

  • @Jacksoccer14 I know your pain - just remember the toys, the games, the best times - and he will never pass

  • I prefer the live version from "Under One Roof", which is more of a ballad version... seems to suit it better. All the same, great song.

  • See this iconic aussie band for the last time,,,or first time,,, realigning again in Sydney on Dec 04-11 at the V8 Supercars final...... Man,,,, I'm SO happy !!!! Life generally sucks balls,, then stuff like this pops up !!!!! WooHooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There are two deserts in Africa bigger than the largest in Australia... I'm not entirely convinced about the snow either, I suspect it's snow covered area rather than volume.

  • Anthemic Aus.

  • 13 Dislikes, WTF ?????? Best Australian song ever written, Best live band throughout the 80,s and 90,s [ 8 times].

  • i am going to give this phenomenon a name becuase it hasn't got one and i am sure everyone suffers from it. it will be called "whiteley's syndrome". if footscray were in the grand final today i would be barracking for the other team even if it was collingwood or port adelaide just because juliar barracks for footscray. ever worked with someone you hated but previously you liked their name but now couldnt bear calling one of your children it......this is "whiteley's syndrome".

  • i should like this song a lot more than i do...........but i dont for one reason.........whenever i hear it all i can think of is chris grealy.........a fellow i worked with up in townsville..........a more obtuse socially-unfriendly individual you will never meet.......i couldnt f u c k i ng stand him.........and he loved this song! so whenever i hear it all i can think of his him....which is really disappointing...because it is a good song.

  • "kiss you in four places"

    best line ever

  • hahahahaha such a beautiful love song,, first written about a ONE NIGHT STAND

  • our song around the world

  • I like the other version of this song.

    This is too fast

  • This is a love song for real men. I'm just saying.

  • @NewWaver80014 This is also a song for women who like real men! xx

  • @WoodsJulie That too! :)

  • Probably a strange comment from a straight male, but Mark Seymour must have been one of the most good looking men on the planet.

  • @hannotn Hey, he's not looking too shabby now! :) There's a recent picture on the Net of him and his brother (Nick, from Crowded House) together and I honestly didn't realize it was new at first.

  • God bless you Australia

  • @Robertcotton Thanks for the kind comment. This county is so badly governed but when I feel that I walk to the beach and realise how lucky 20 million people are to have a country that has the best beaches on the planet, more snow then Switzerland, a lager desert then Africa but a better salary then the USA. It's the small things that slow you down but focus on the big ones, no mater what anyone says!

  • @gnarkillkicksass . Thanks for those comments about Australia. You just made me think what the f**kam I living in the UK for. Its been 12 years now but your words have given me the motivation to book a one way ticket home....Oh and the song is great also, one of the all time greats..

  • @ashone0one UK is good, I lived in Leeds for a while. Not the best place but I loved getting out of town, enjoying the history, countryside and very good people!

  • @gnarkillkicksass More snow than Switzerland? ha ha hahaha

  • @kingdaniel69 It's actually true! I never believed it but because our mountains are really low it melts a lot quicker lol.

  • This is still one of the better gigs I went to for a University Orientation ( Otago - 1984 ish) - despite the Speights beer being served in milkshake wax cups, and the great puddles of it on the dance floor!!

  • My fave song of all time... i like to think it means different things to different people .. but to me it's about a bloody good one-night stand or a 'friend with benefits'.. Either way, it's a beautiful song.

  • @loureeson "friends with benefits" never work.

  • i prefer the daas version, but a simply beautiful song. fantastic!

  • a very nice song

  • haha paul mcdermott does a much better version of this song

  • I once saw a vid of Neil Finn & Jimmy doing this for a charity..... many manymany years ago..... never seen it since....

  • I prefer the other version

  • @macunfraidh what other version???

  • guys u know this song is about a 1 night stand lol but it is still a good song

  • Sorry Mark Seymor the lead singer and voice of the band is an AUSSIE !!!

  • one of the most beautiful songs it has ever been my fortune to hear ... again and again and again :) much cred to the beautiful mr seymour

  • wish someone would throw their arms around me....

  • @spkenn36

I guess it should be a bogan or abbo

  • @sk30l well it wouldnt be you that I can assure...

  • @spkenn36

I knew it- no one wants a human nowadays.

  • Absolute classic

  • Outstanding band and iconic song with superb lyrics

    Never tire of hearing it...

  • will always remind me of Shane's death in Home and Away. The most beautiful death and marriage song of all time, even though that sounds weird in the same sentence!!!

  • wow i saw this on a top 100 of triple j and man i cant believe how good it is!

  • There's so much to be said, and never enough that can be said...absolute masterpiece, from a golden time!

  • Ahh, the original clip... gotta be the best!!!

  • man these guys are so much better live

  • Someone asked: What are the 4 places he will kiss you ?????

I heard an interview where they said the places were geographical rather than body parts. Hope that doesn't spoil the song for you!

  • Thank you for posting this. This band is grossly underrated.

  • talking heads

  • ha ha...what phycopath wrote this song...LOL...!

  • Best soundtrack to those lost one-night stands ever...

  • What are the 4 places he will kiss you ?????

    Anyone know ?

  • still one of my fave all time songs!!

  • I've found that most of Hunters songs have suffered from being way too over-produced on the studio recordings. As a result of this they always sound about 5 times more vibrant than on the record.

  • And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky And we may never meet again So shed your skin and let's get started And you will throw your arms around me Yeah, you will throw your arms around me I dreamed of you at nighttime And I watched you in your sleep I met you in high places I touched your head and touched your feet So if you disappear out of view You know I will never say goodbye And though I try to forget it You will make me call your name MY BABY NANA......
  • TO MY SWEET ANGEL NANA....... I LOVE YOU I will come for you at nighttime I will raise you from your sleep I will kiss you in four places As I go running along your street I will squeeze the life out of you You will make me laugh and make me cry And we will never forget it You will make me call your name And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky And we may never meet again So shed your skin and let's get started And you will throw your arms around me
  • Could it possibly have been 'crowded house'.

  • great song but funny how he actually sounds like a stalker haha

  • I first heard this song thru a Crowded House cover. Good, but the original is amazing.

  • Saw H&C live many many times back in the early 80's in Melbourne. An amazing live act and great songs.

  • @Erklemirkin can you help - was in ausssie for a year backpacking in the 1990's

and saw a band live in sydney harbour on a barge but can't remember their name?

mix between inxs and h&c's- thanks.

  • @franksie7 Midnight oil maybe

  • Cant believe that this wasnt a number one hit in Aus or around the world.

    A Great Aussie Legend

  • Paul mcdermott does this soo much better

  • @nickyboy22071989 go to the acoustic version... garanteeeeed you like that one better.

  • They are the greatest...PERIOD :)

  • This song made Tripple J's Hottest 100 of ALL TIME on three seprate occasions. amazing. FUCKING AMAZING. PERIOD.

  • Always loved this group, always loved this song

  • this was played at my sisters funeral last week with a nice slide show of photos to the music. i'll never forget this song now. R.I.P. lizzie and i really hope we do meet again.

  • @incredingo So sorry to hear. Beautiful song.

  • @incredingo Me and my twin brother played this song at my big brother's funeral. Much love to Lizzie and Neil

  • @incredingo You will meet agian some day, your sister is an Angel watching over you,x

  • @GROGEStonedeafSPAZZO you are Karl Vogt of Horsham , Australia and you really need to watch your back you filthy child stalker.

  • @GROGEStonedeafSPAZZO back to the stone age child fiddler

  • No doubt one of the best 100 songs ever!

  • I'll just stick to the DAAS version - /watch?v=-j0g2oG_w2g

  • @Pook365 Uh you are crazy if you think DAAS were better than the Hunters. They are the best live band Australia has ever produced ever. Seymour was pretty lousy in his solo efforts but this song is up there with the greatest rock anthems of all time. Every track on Human frailty is a work of pure genius.

  • @zapkvr

Dont make me suggest you just called all Australian bands rubbish :P

Wouldn't most people say AC/DC or INXS? Not that I'm saying either of those are good.

Almost no one has heard of H&C outside of Australia.

  • @Pook365 I never said anyone was rubbish. I simply stated - because it is true - H&C are the best live Australian band of all time. ACDC haven't been Australian for over twenty years. I'll grant you INXS wrote some good songs but their live performances were nothing to write home about. Ice were great too. I wouldn't pay money to see Savage garden or Powderfinger. I think they are boring.

  • absolute bliss-good memories of boogying to them in a Sydney nightclub-love them

  • Love you Aussies!! This song always makes me cry. One of the best songs ever.

  • I quite like the guys who just wander around in this video

  • Gotta love this tune. Other songs on this album totally OWN. I'm thinking of "Dog" and 99th Home Position

  • OMG, haven't heard this song in years. Thanks so much for the up!

  • The best Aussieband.

  • Aussies best band.

  • Look how CLEAN-CUT,these boys are,not looking like dead-beat drug taking lay-abouts.GREAT work fellows.

  • Where did the time go? I'm standing in the Espy or the like... Mark is doing his Jesus pose to this... I shared a beer or two with the guys back in the '80's... must be getting old.

  • one of the very best

  • @jcsparkler i couldn't have put it better myself

  • One of the best live bands i've ever seen...if not the best!!!

  • Sent this song to my girlfriend...been married ever since...that was ten years ago:)

  • i just remember that dude dead on that big rock with his missus bawling her eyes out...that was the shittest episode of homos and gays i ever seen....lol

  • I have never heard the finn version on radio..why you ask, because in a 2 horse race he was left in the stalls

  • wow, i never thought i'd see the day where i actually admitted to liking a different version of this song. Mark Seymour wrote it, yes? but who performed it first? i'm not comparing this to Neil Finn's (CH's) version because they are very different. but this is awesome!! that being said, i guess i still prefer the harmonies of CH. but as i said, they are both different. thanks for posting this, chepickle! :-)

  • recently rediscovered this song, one of the most beautiful of the last 25+ years. This coming from a Yank, no less...

  • This song reminds me of my first love awesome song :-)

  • The original version ....and the best!

  • I know that this song is about a one night stand but there is something that feels exceptionally romantic about it

  • @AmericaRulesYouDrool lol Don't feed the troll people. But I know Aussies and you will...

  • @AmericaRulesYouDrool

Troll...and a stupid one at that.

  • @AmericaRulesYouDrool hahahaha, oh man.

why do americans troll? because they have nothing better to do on a saturday night.

  • paul mcdermotts version is actually better than this

  • RIP The Venue St Kilda! Where this was filmed

  • matty if I could vote a million times I would. thhrooooo did he do that good

  • Saw Hunters play live in Perth in the late 90's. Without a doubt one of the best "live" bands ever. Mark Seymour could barely talk at the end from the effort he put into the singing. A truly fantastic concert.

  • Yeah good song....

  • i travel this wonderful country with work and this is played in every state on radio.

    talent is talent

  • Who's the random guy at 2:12? A backup singer?

  • I'm pretty sure he's one of their trumpet players, but obviously isn't needed for the song.

  • He is one of the trumpet players.

  • Look into those piggy little eyes of his and tell me its not true!

  • Its not well known but this song was about one of his sisters.

  • a one night stand with his sister?

  • Fantastic Aussie band, fully praised and enjoyed by kiwi's.

  • I prefer this version to that which seems to get played on the radio all the time these days (which I do not believe is live either - just another studio version).

  • @Neilidity From my recollection, the original single was mastered from a 4 track cassette recording but none of the radio stations except 2JJJ would play it for the reason that it wasn't hi-fidelity enough for FM radio. For me the original recording has far better lyrics than any subsequent recordings of this song.

  • When I worked radio station at Purdue WXLAY 106.9 Lay radio(free music and cd's) we recieved original ep on vinyle. which i still have to this day. we played at my wedding (yes cheesy) but my wifey loved it.

  • mega u r a total fuckwit keep your stupid opinons to yourself cos they are total shit

  • No offense to H+C or anything, but this song sounds a hell of a lot bette rodne live. There's something about the studio version that make sit sound too overproduced IMO.

You have no idea how jealous Neil Finn is of this song. I think Crowded House have sung this song live more than Mark Seymour has!

  • @SpencerIves

I agree with you about the better live bit. The way to hear it recorded is the live album "The way to go out".

  • you always left h&c gigs buggered from the singing and bourbons...it was like being in a choir when these guys played. Good times.

  • this song always reminds me of my pet cow. God I miss her and all the sweet cuddles we had. i never had a cow thats been able to take my constant affections since. R.I.P. daisy

  • Sorry, but these guys are great.

If you ever had seen them live you would likely have a different opinion.

    Be nice.

Your mother raised you for better.

    -J

  • @BostonFastJack 7 times live in the 80,s and early 90's, still one of the best bands live, ever. Thankyou.

  • MORON ALERT!

  • Hunters and Collectors were the best Australian band and they've got more talent than you do pal!

  • Uber cretin.

  • Retard.

  • Uber Retard.

  • @Megatrousers

Ah damn...I guess I'm going to have to tell my supervisor of my studies towards my Nanoscience double major that I'm uber retarded.

  • @SuperUFB Yeah, pretty much. Going to college hardly means you have taste in music :)

  • Cretin.

  • it will always be a classic

  • Man they nailed it!

I never thought anyone could make Throw your arms around me a cool sounding chorus

  • Comment removed

  • this song rocks, what year was this mad in?

  • Wikipedia says it was recorded in October 1984. Presumably it calmed down after that.

  • H&C recorded a version in 1984 as a non-album single... then again for the Human Frailty album in 1986 - then a third version in 1990 for their "Collected Works" compilation.

  • St Kilda FOREVER

  • It's gonna be their year, go the Saints

    (from a still-miserable Dockers Dyke)

  • Bombers anyday

  • C'arn the Saints!

  • Great song - this video looks like it might have been shot inside The Venue in St. Kilda. Any idea if that's right?

  • This is the original pub version.Faster than the eventual relaease.Great shit at 1130 at night with a good toke of hash!

  • I was asking about the video location, not the version of the song, as it looks like it might be the interior of The Venue (sadly now torn down). This isn't necessarily their "original pub version", but the studio version from their 1986 album 'Human Frailty'. Performing live, their pub versions varied greatly - all excellent!

  • I presume the "eventual release" you're referring to is the slow acoustic version relsaed on their 'Collected Works' album in 1990. There was also a live version on their earlier 1985 album 'The Way To Go Out'.

  • smells like teen spirit was o.k. but very overrated.
