They used to have these as demo videos in Best Buy. It's one from a bunch of Animusic computer-rendered videos. The method this guy came up with of marrying MIDI to 3D is no less astounding, though.

This is called Animusic. There are a couple of DVDs that you can buy. Do a search on Amazon for Animusic. Great stuff.

I remember seeing this air on PBS years ago. It's still damn awesome. Just think of how many programmers went without sleep getting the timing right and rendering this.

Total fake. It is not, as tiewster claims, from the University of Iowa. It is computer animation from a group called Animusic. It's still a very remarkable piece of work, even if it is CG. Anyone wanting to actually discover the truth for themselves can do so easily by searching "animusic" + "pipe dream" on Google. The news is also out on snopes . com. Tiewster, post the facts please.
