@SocratesTheGadfly There was never any proof that the Rosenberg's were guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. This is especially the case for Ethel Rosenberg. If you read your history you would know this. That Ethel's brother and wife implicated the Rosenberg's to save their own skin. Greenglas admitted this on 60 Minutes. While some documents have hinted that Julius may have spied for Russia, there was never any proof that he gave any significant info and no proof that his wife ever did.

@lemaxmas Now if your patriotism is for real, you know that our trials are literally based on the need for actual proof beyond a reasonable doubt. That never happened. Government sources even back then admitted that to forcing their executions only because they would not name any names. You don't execute people, because they do not talk. You have to have conclusive proof.

@lemaxmas People like Aldrich Ames who worked for the CIA and Robert Hanson who worked for the FBI were both spies for the Soviets. as well as a number of other government agents who did the same. Eah were proven to have done far more damage than the Rosenbergs and yet they were never executed. Why aren't you screaming about that?

Plus the Russians revealed documentation after the fall of Communism that proved this and also that there was never any info of significance that came from Sobel and Greenglas, let alone the Rosenberg's. They also admitted that Ethel was never involved.

a towering achievement! yes, the mourner's prayer is in aramaic and it's a lyrical and haunting elegy. by the way, part of streep's background is jewish. some of her ancestors are sephardic jews who migrated from spain to amsterdam during the late 1500's. she talked about this recently on her promotional tour for "doubt." streep was astounding as ethel rosenberbg. in her ethel scenes, she does a comic turn, which didn't occur to any other actresses playing this role before--she's amazing.

The Mourner's Kaddish is a Hebrew prayer recited in Aramaic language. This is the Ashkenazi version. The letter t (tet)in Hebrew, is pronounced in as a letter shit, I mean, sin, shin or samech, whatever. You can do the same thing to your father when he is sleeping peacefully in his grave if you have not yet say Kaddish to him because you have been raped by this present evil world.

It isn't really Hebrew. If you read the actual play, when Louis says "Oh it's Hebrew who knows what it's asking?" there's a footnote at the bottom of the page where Tony Kushner says he knows it's in Aramaic, but "for the sake of the joke..."
