  • the fuck.

  • @AustinL0L - lol youre a douche lol , obviously not very secure in your sexuality huh? lol, its ok theres still "big cars" so you can hide your homosexual tendencies from the rest of us lol

  • not even a pickup maybe just a jumbo wagon

  • there goes your vagina...

  • throw a hayabusa engine in it and turbo it that little fucker will fly

  • why the fuck does anybody even buy this shit wagons?

  • If that was a ticket, I'd jump in it.

  • Lamest looking cars out there

  • they didnt need to bring the flat bed all they needed was a pick up truck..

  • they probably could have picked it up and put it on the truck lol

  • I would have burned it to the ground and pissed on the ashes, then pray to Jesus to forgive me for ever driving it !! XD

  • u could put a smart car in a u haul truck

  • members of the smartcarofamerica forums have had the same problem sometimes, many have found solutions that didn't require sending it to the dealer.

You might want to visit the site sometimes, especially if you've got problems...

  • oh well, it finally happened to me today, went out to go to work, -2F (-18C) started right up, went to go to drive, STUCK!

i'll call smart in the morning :'(

i shoulda lubed it last summer.

  • Heck u dont need a roll back all u need is a pickup truck

  • True, I towed it from Oregon to Massachusetts behind a ten-foot U-haul. =)

  • u not supposed to tow them r u, ruins gearbox?

r they fully automatic or semi automatic?

  • my dealer is 35 miles away, my dad is 4 miles away. the dealer said they'd do it when i went in for an oil change. the way things are going, could be a few months away.

i'll do it now and wait for the recall for the new shifter mechanism. i'm between jobs and the last thing i need is to get stuck without a car for a few days either while getting a job, or starting a new job. it's not "tamper evident" unscrewing the collar nut for the shifter. 2 minute job!

  • this week i'm gonna pop the knob off my shifter and do some preventive maintenance on my smart. i don't want mine to turn into a FORD (found on road dead) been trying to find the "window" on when the lack of lubricant happened. my smart was made 12/07, i've seen 01/08 with this problem, if people would just post manufacture dates, we could pin this down.

  • Dismantling your car is probably a bad idea. If you take it into the dealership they'll check it for free.

  • cool car i find it funny that little of a car on that tow truck they need to make a smart car tow truck

  • You probably don't even need a truck lol! Any car could probably tow it!

  • lol ill go put a hitch on a geo metro

  • Yup, the Geo is about 90% plastic! You could tow it by hand! LOL!

  • Towing a smart fortwo with a Corolla would be a very stupid idea.

  • I'm just exagerating how "toy like" cars are made these days. Those old 40's cars had more metal in the rear axel than an entire modern day car.

  • Im excited i reserved one today. ynu get notified by email afterwards so u can build your own

  • The dealership is done fixing the car. They found the problem was that the button on the shifter wasn't greased at the factory and they said they've had two or three people report the problem and that it's easy to fix.

  • That's good dude. Had another question, how much is insurance on the smart car? Is it more expensive or cheaper to insure than a normal car?

  • mokos23 all u need to do is call your insurance agent. If they dont know what to do, call GEICO, you will be able to get a quote from them for the US version by phone.

  • I had Geico when I got my car. They refused to insure it with full coverage, so I had to buy a whole new policy through Ameriprise. Geico refused to acknowledge it was an American car and denied coverage based on the fact that importing parts from Europe would be too expensive. I had to spend hours at the dealership calling insurance companies just to find anyone to insure the car.

  • i got quotes from geico in the past, last time for a metro, and it was double what i was paying with farmers. then i switched to country last year cuz they were lower than farmers. when my renewal came up for the smart, it went from $300 to 388 for 6 months and farmers offered me $225 for 6 months, same coverage, money talks...

  • Geico bases their quotes on how much money you make, so yeah, money does talk. If you make over fifty thousand you'll get a good quote, but if you don't, you won't.

  • seems that they'd charge more to someone who made more... kinda weird. my FICO was 818 when i got my smart and i bet it's higher now (paid off the smart in 3 months, instead of 60)

  • Insurance companies that will insure the fortwo see it as a two-seater coupe and insure it as such. It's not any more or less expensive than insuring any other coupe. Make sure they know it's not a convertible (unless you have the cabrio) because those can be more expensive to insure. I had to tell my insurance company three times my car wasn't a convertible because the phrases "two seater" and "not a convertible" wouldn't register together in their head initially.

  • foxmagik, cool to hear the repair was simple. Lets hope they share back to the production plant in France. We all want to keep moving. Have you been ok with the car's performance otherwise?

  • I'm completely satisfied with the car so far. I get a lot of features that would have been really expensive or not available at all in larger cars like the heated leather seats, four airbags, automatic headlights/wipers, six speaker stereo, moon roof, etc. and the ride is very comfortable. Interestingly, some people assume the car is going to be slow when I take off at a stop light, so sometimes people in luxury or sports cars will try to whip around me in traffic before they see the car launch.

  • Thanks for the info on insurance. Geico and I spent about 30 minutes on the phone and on line. I think they are pretty sure of what I am buying. I got a great quote. I know that the options list is great too. I have several on my want list when mine comes off the assembly line. I drove the newest tester model this afternoon at the smart center orlando. The rep actually encouraged me to drive it hard. So I did, very responsive.

  • I hope Geico is offering full coverage now. You have to have full coverage if you're financing. I've found the new fortwos respond well to aggressive driving too but the ESP is very aggressive in response to it, so if you try to corner too hard you lose a lot of acceleration. Also because of the way the clutch works you can't coast down hills, you have to hold down the gas the whole time, which seems like it wastes a lot of fuel.

  • how fast have you driven it on the expressway? that would be the only worry if i owned it, i don't know how good or bad the smart car would do on a expressway when there are numerous SUV's and trucks.

  • I got a ticket yesterday (my first speeding ticket ever) for doing 88mph in a 55mph zone. I have to be careful because sometimes I find I'm going a lot faster than I thought. It really doesn't feel like driving a small car.

  • 88mph? Nice! What does the speedometer go up to in the Smart?

If you are averaging more than 40mph city/highway I may seriously think of owning one in a year or two after the hype goes down. I may only buy the base one. What model is yours?

  • The speedo goes to 100mph but the engine is computer rev limited to 90mph. I've driven Portland to Seattle several times and Portland to Bend (both about 200 miles over highway and streets). I have the Passion. I recommend it over the Pure (base model) because you get a lot of nice things like alloy wheels which improve handling that would be more expensive to add after purchase if you bought them separately. It's a very comfortable and nimble car on the highways.

  • shit guy how long ave u had it for

  • I got my car in March.

  • DIS MARCH ????

  • Yeah they just went on sale in the US in January. They're completely rebuilt for the us with over 400 changes, so there's bound to be a few hitches. Really I don't mind having to have the car back to the dealership a few times to have it worked on, it's a trade off for being one of the first to own one made for the US.

  • wow guy but styll i would be pretty mad if dat happened to me, soo what iz this new model called cuz i havent heard of this one yet

  • It's still called the fortwo and has a model designation of 451. They're still manufactured by Mercedes in Germany at the Smart factory but they are distributed at Smart Centers in the US by Daimler Chrysler. Currently there have been 3,000 cars sold with a backorder list of about 27,000 remaining so if you wanted one you'd have to get in line after the other 27,000 applicants who already paid $99USD to reserve one.

  • ooo ight ight, im gonna ask next time i reach the mercedes dealer, cuz mine has one dere, but yeah wow 27,000 people wanted it. kinda like the time with the maybach but they had a 5000 backorder and u had to pay bout 10,000 for a reserve lol.
