The training is a form of dressage but put into action. A family in MD had an old, OLD Lipizzaner stallion who had been retired into their care in the 70s. I was taught to ride on him. Almost had only to think and he would go. He could dance and bow and take direction from knee pressure and little heel kicks even at a gallop. No reins required. Great horse.
