Man I swear my X is the only one in town that's 2WD with a V6, there's at least 20 other 2nd gen's in my small town and they're always 4x4 or AWD with V8's. A-holes lol.
my bros got a 98 v8 302 5.0 awd, that thing is so beast, the only thing thats stopped it so far was a 8 foots snow pile, and thats because it was soft snow, so it got high centered, but it has a 5" lift and 33" mud tires. FORD ALL THE WAY BABY!!!!!
Nice, I drive a 94' Ford Explorer 4x4 xlt, recently dropped a 302 in it, and everything else is stock except a few Throttling mods, and my baby will go through almost anything put her path...so far that is, haha I survived the 2010 winter ice storm/blizzard in oklahoma with ease, hoping for more this year. :D Cheers
my 2WD 98 ford explorer sport got stuck in an alley a few weeks ago, with us being 16, we just dug out the wheels as best we could with ice scrapers, and tried to pull it out with my friends truck with a tiny ass yellow rope. took a few hours, hahaha, but we knew better than to call my parents and ask for help.
that aint wheelin all that was was a puddle ive driven through mississipi river flood waters. find some mud and watch that ford sink!!!!!!!!!! chevy baby
well you gotta admit thats prolly stock everything. i wouldnt trust going through too much more stock. maybe with a litle lift and bigger wheels id go more
Yeah, the A4LD isn't great, by any means. I'd much rather have my Mitsubishi 5 speed out of my Bronco II. I have a shift kit, but I'd much rather have the 5 speed, or an old C4. as for sitting too low, it is a big hindrance, but you just gotta lift it a little bit.
Ford>Jeep. but i dont really care, i just like the Explorers and F series. I have nothin against Jeep id just rather drive a Ford. All American though thats good. But ppl need to stop the Brand name wars Ford>Jeep n Honda>Polaris. look at me though im a hipocrite in a way lol, saying Ford>Jeep then tellin ppl not to do that. Well w.e different strokes 4 different folks, w.e the fuck that means
hahaha. yeah i think Jeeps look cool, and im more non biased now...i love Explorers (the old ones up til 3rd generation) but they have one big problem, which is they are too low to the ground. but its fixable...and Ford transmissions haha but i guess u cant have everything
Hey if ya get the manual tranny in the first gen. explorer's they're tougher than the auto A4LD that came in the first gens, and the 2nd gen tranny's aren't as bad, all depends on how ya use it too.
yeah. ha manual is the only way to go w.e u got lol. they are so much fun, adn faster, adn all that stuff...but if ur taking like a roadtrip id want an auto...all my toyotas have been auto, its REALLY hard to find a 4Runner that isnt an automatic. idk wut u think about 4runners, i like those and Ford Explorers the best. those 2 Ford Explorers in Jurassic Park are the sweetest vehicles ive ever seen lol
Yeah, its just to bad they're 2wheel drive, My 92 explorer is manual and the 96 is auto. So we got both worlds lol, 4 runners are ok, not my thing tho.
2 wheel drive is when only two wheels are given power by the engine to turn. 4 wheel drive is when all of the wheels are given power by the engine to turn. 2 wheel drives are common in small cars. That's why people rather drive a 4WD car than a 2WD in snow because it'll have a less chance of getting stuck since all 4 wheels spin.
that makes no sense at all. If you were to find a patch of ice that covers the entire length of the vehicle(not usually) the 4wd would still have more of an ability to stay on the road, if you used acceleration. with a 2wd though the back end can just swing around, due to the braking coefficient, and you'd have no control. 4wd is relatively always better in low traction conditions than 2wd.
oh well yeah lol...i dont c anyone doing any serious offroading in those things lol. I think they failed the T-Rex crash test too. lol i want that paint job though, and the brushguard, spotlight, and those lights on top...what do ppl call those things, ive heard them called Safari Lights but that sounds...odd
the only bad thing i have founnd with my explorer is the electric transfercase, the automatic hubs, adn the air intake is down by the bunper. I filled my engine full of water doing the exact same thing
you guys need to shut up about the jeep<ford or Ford<jeep, any off-roader knows that a rig is not based on the brand name it is all what is bellow the body. The axles the tires the transfer case lockers etc. the name of the game is traction not your brand name. But most of all it is the driver a guy in a stock jeep could beat an SAS'd explorer just because of the lines he picks visa versa.
Please do not even speak in the same sentence as Jeep with your Ford's. They are on two different levels. Ford is losing 3 BILLION A QUARTER right now. Chrysler is making a fortune a great products. Products like the Fusion, Edge, Escape, all have LOWEST resale in their class. A twenty year old Jeep stills goes for thousands of dollars. You have to face the FACTS, not just your heart. I know it sucks, but gotta get over it.

lol yeah i know what 2wd is, i was wondering what he was reffering to as only having 2wd.
fenderguitarist05 3 years ago
not all 4wd is good on snow, because if u hit some ice u dont only lose tracction in 2 wheels u lose it in all, but its great for drifting in snow ;)
supajakepanda 3 years ago

The only thing that the "brand" offers is the power that the engine puts out...and it is all about how the driver uses it.
