Is this bike any good for tricking? The bike seems really nice but will it hold up to that abuse? and does the wheel clear the lower tube if you were to bar spin
@datazncarl its a chromoly (steel) frame so it's tough enough for tricking if you're looking for a sturdy frame. Yes, the wheel clears for bar spins. I don't know what kind of abuse you're going to submit the frame to, but there are better frames MADE for tricking with reinforced joints etc..
@autocrossaholic ha, thanks for the criticism, next kilo vid will be better for sure (and the bike won't be BONE STOCK). i see you're a autocross fan - nice, me too!
@autocrossaholic I was joking, i dont even have a bareknuckle or a car lol. I have a scwhinn madison and leader 725 tr. I commute everywhere in philly. You got a whole stock kilo for 170?
@thecool510 Brakes and brake lines are already mounted to the frame, the wheels are fully assembled, tires and tubes mounted, and the entire front assembly (fork, steerer tube, and handlebars) is already mounted on the frame. Basically all you have to do is put the pedals and wheels on. Super easy
@thecool510 The bike weighs 19 lbs. The frame is steel - 4130 chromoly to be exact - which is one of the better quality steel alloys (same as 510 chromoly which is a market standard).
@elephunk457 This is the Mercier Kilo TT "Stripper Edition" meaning it comes stickerless. Most the time, they apply the sticker UNDER the clear coated paint so you risk totally ruining the finish by removing them (words of advice).
Hey I bought a kilo TT a while ago and was wondering if its to small. im 5'7 and i got a 50 cm. Whats the difference between a 50cm and 53 cm (Rim size, height, length). Also I want a Nitto stem but im not sure how to install it.
@aznxdope The frame sizes for the Merciers run big, so a 53cm frame would be the equivalent of a 56cm for most other track frames. I'm 6' and have the 53cm which is perfect size. If you're 5'7 a 50cm might be a little larger, but its really how you feel on the bike - some people like the extra length of the frame - personal preference. Rim size is the same for all the frames - 700c wheel. Bikesdirect has the measures on their website if you need them. A Nitto stem would be easy to install
@Shrike48 Ohh really? Well yeah I think I could have gone a size up because at first my bike felt to big but now i got used to it and it seems to small. Thanks for the input
Yes, it is fixed gear. The hub is fixed/fixed so its ONLY a fixed gear, though you can get a flip-flop hub and swap it out if you wanted. Yes, you can skid. Bikesdirect is the best. I love my Mercier. Would definitely order it again.
I'm kind of new to biking and wanted to buy the kilo tt as well, but I'm not exactly sure why it doesnt come with brakes. is that normal? If i were to buy it w/o brakes how much would it cost to install some on?
@killkong Actually, the Kilo TT I ordered through bikesdirect came with BOTH front and rear brakes already installed on the fork and frame. I'm not sure if you're looking at the same bike as mine. Even if yours doesn't come with brakes, I can't imagine new brakes, pads, lines, and levers would cost more than $50-80...
its the Mercier Kilo TT "Stripper" Edition - i.e. no stickers or extra decals for a super clean look. also comes with a few gold accents like the pedals & chain. love the bike! check out bikesdirect
how did you get the Mercier decals/writing off the frame? did you repaint or did you buy it this way?
tooclassy4most 6 days ago
@tooclassy4most It's the 'Stripper Edition,' which has no decals (and gold pedals). I bought it that way :)
