  • Pardon the eureka moment but these pens *are* slightly transparent after all, then? (well, it would make sense since this colour pattern doesn't have the ink window the black edition has) I got the M400 White Tortoise for two reasons: a) it's gooooorgeous and b) very VERY transparent if you hold it up to the light.

Oh, &I love ink bottles & I hate cartridges as well - for one, they just don't have the same flow as the piston filler system. And +1 to Pelikan's for holding TONS of ink, indeed.

  • Those 4 will last all your life? LOL. I guess I have more cumulated (in-between semester) holiday time that you have school time. These wouldn't last a year, let alone a lifetime - if you've got anything in common with writing.

  • I watched this to find out how to fill my new Pelikan 600 fountain pen.

This expert's demonstration left me with one unanswered question.

Where is this man's left hand???

  • Virgin.

  • i have watched this video SO many times i just wearly want that pen PLEEEEASE make another videoabout this pen PLEEEEEAAASEEE

  • @labrat10001 Same here. It really is an awesome pen.

  • @ThatLonelyLoner I have to agree. I have a range of pens from 3 dollar rollerballs to 100 dollar fountain pens and I have to say that it is considerably more satisfying finding a great cheap ($10-$30) pen that lasts forever and writes well. Sure it doesn't have gold etchings and a platinum coated nib, but if it writes well and is comfortable to use... why not!?

  • @ThatLonelyLoner It is the feel of the pen and how it writes that makes it a big deal. The Pels are really smooth and makes one enjoy writing (of course others don't really mind) stuff down. Also the material that is used to make the pen such as the gold for the nib and the brass for the piston filler is a big part of the cost.

But your right that the average person should not consider this due to the price. They are pricy, can get lost due to its small size and that is $300+ down the drain.

  • @ThatLonelyLoner listen you dont understand. first- the pen is amazing to write with.

second- the pen will last for a lifetime, and its a luxury that can be enjoyed for this whole time. it may hold certain value to a person, that they have a dependable pen.

some people enjoy different things, like i know people who collect those model cars, they are completely useless- except they are something they enjoy. if someone enjoys it, you should be happy at least they find happiness.

  • wait why did you call this guy a pussy, faggot, and retard?

  • boom!!

  • @Ciunkcelis

    "Snob". Pussy, faggot, retard.

  • This video is shit. You don't even show how it writes.

  • What model is this?

  • what is the name of this pen?

  • @zwimipo1

    souveran m800

  • @tallswede80 this pen is not cheap =S

  • hi i loved the video. i want this pen but i don't think i could use it for school if it's an expressive pen it must be good

  • Beautiful, I have an M1000 that I've had repaired (for free at Chartpak) twice over the last 11 years, and I love it. Sadly, it came from a time in my life when I had money, and it's now pretty much the only reminder I have of those days...:(

    Nice video, thanks for posting!

  • is there a nice NON disposable flex nib for under $15???

  • stop saying shaft. it's called the barrel

  • i just got my new Pelikan suckadick pen 07 and i love it!

    Just like this guy!

  • it's called a piston, not a plunger. you use a plunger to unclog your toilet

  • 300 dollers on a pen :O damb

  • Pelikan is the best

    I like the M200 version

  • I hope you also realize that the tip of this pen wears down (I said this below). Yes, you replace the ink but this doesn't replace the tip and the more it wears down the worse the pen gets... Disposables and refill pens replace the tip of the pen with each new pen/refill so you always get the best performance. I write 50+ pages a day (maybe more now) and believe me I have a lot of pens - I have a big box of various expensive disposable and permanent pens and disposables are the best.

  • @kotapaka Err... fountain pen nibs don't wear down. They just... don't. How else are so many vintage pens still in regular use after 2-3 generations without retipping?

  • @cnuulhu Err...I'm an engineer and they wear down. It's called friction. It's everywhere. That's why: shoes' soles, car tires, jeans/clothes, knives, cutting and drilling instruments etc all wear down and need replacement.

2-3 generations. Yes, because they don't write much. Also ink is corrosive and literally eats away some of the internals of the pen. That's why vintage pens are so expensive - they are often reconstructed which is expensive and the ones not been reconstructed work but poorly.

  • @kotapaka Sorry, I was wrong to say they don't wear down at all, I'd agree, that's most certainly not the case. But an iridium tip (actually osmium most of the time these days) will not wear down significantly, even after _significant_ use over multiple generations.

Ink is corrosive: No truth in that whatsoever. Any ink intended for fountain pens is completely non-corrosive (Noodler's Baystate Blue nonwithstanding). Dip pen ink and old iron gall ink might be, but not fountain pen ink.

  • @cnuulhu

This one has a rhodium tip i believe.

  • @kotapaka I will concede that you can't practically or logically justify buying pens beyond a certain price point.

At the prices of the pen described in this video, you're not paying so much for the pen as for the looks, for the nostalgia of using a fountain pen, or in some cases for a status symbol. That's not to say I would never buy one, but I would understand that doing so is not practically sensible. But who is completely sensible about how they spend their money anyway?

  • @cnuulhu That's how bubbles are created. Anyway, I just wanted to share with people that disposables are not that bad actually. I used to think that disposables are just not worth it and a serious person who writes a lot cannot be bothered with disposables.

OK but disposables are usually more comfortable because they don't try and achieve some 1800 design. The more expensive ones usually have top performance and write very smooth.

  • @kotapaka

I've used those pilot varsity disposables. They don't feel very smooth. You can replace the nib on this pen.

  • @tallswede80 I didnt say pilot VARSITY. I've never used the varsity. Why dont you try something like pilot tecpoint V7? THey come as disposable and refillable. THey have loads of ink but are expensive.

  • @tallswede80 I agree. I am a lover of fountain pens. I especially love my Lamy Safaris (3 of them) for work. I love the fine point. In my job having a bottle of ink nearby is impossible. I do use cartridges for them. I re-use the cartridges & refill them w/Noodler's waterproof black inks. I also use the red inks for another part of my job. Disposable fountain pens R restricted in colors-black, blue and purple. If damaged, no repair. Can you buy replacement parts? No.

  • @kotapaka disposables have hidden costs. Takes energy to make the plastic, that plastic gets thrown out, becomes nothing more than trash which will have a perverse effect on the environment. (like the North Pacific Gyre). And landfills cost money, money out of the taxpayers pockets. Buy hundreds of disposables, or buy one pen like this. Saves you money in the long run, is more sustainable and better for the place we live.

  • @kotapaka you are totally wrong.

-any good fountain pen WILL NOT SKIP, their ink flow is smooth and consistent.

    -i'll give you that one

-many people belive that fountain pens get better with time. They won't wear out like a ballpoint will. If you take good care of the pen it will never break, good fountain pens are extremely well made if you respect them and don't abuse them as a child does a crayon.

-BAHAHAHAHA this last one is just dumb, no disposable pen has a finer line than a Japanese EF

  • @gayl09 You're right.

  • You have to hold the cheap thing though. I value the feel of a fine writing instrument.

  • I wish I could afford one. They are simply out of my reach at the time. One day I will have the cash to do so, however.

  • @chopin65 Yeah they are very pricey. Some people might find it beneficial to use a credit card to purchase it and to finance a pen that way. Sounds stupid these days to do that for a pen, but if you would really love a higher end fountain pen and you intend to keep and use it for the rest of your life, then it might not be a bad idea purchasing. People spend lots of money on all sorts of things from video games to TVs to sneakers...if it makes you happy then go for it.

  • Loves the Shaft.......

  • @neoContraVo

    Right.

Is there something you want to say about that?

  • @neoContraVo

I think he's implying that because shaft can have a double meaning and the commentator is male then homosexuality is implied.

It's a stunningly insightful observation whose hilarity is matched only by the genius of it's wit.

  • @ardeet

It's neither insightful nor hilarious, nor witty, nor genius, but rather tacky, vulgar, trashy, and cheap . It's the product of a polluted, defiled and degenerated mind which cannot create a division in his mind between a writing instrument and penises.

  • @tallswede80 perhaps I should have put the sarcasm tags in. I was amusing myself with finding a different way of calling the commenter a juvenile dickhead.

  • hey dude, nice video! don't be so nervous! it's a bit funny though... xD

  • u think he likes this pen?

  • I was going to buy my girlfriend the 300, as it's the cheapest in the range and the smallest as she has small hands. Instead I bought her a parker sonnet. Wish I'd spend the extra 10 pounds on the pelikan as it is a stunning pen, which makes the parker look a little bland. The plus side is the parker comes with cartridge but also a converter so you can use bottled ink.

I may buy myself a pelikan one day.

  • @rebelartwork The Sonnet is a great pen too...I'd say it is even better than lower end Pelikan pens (e.g. the M200, 215, etc.).

  • Me too I like refillable fountain pens. The filling process is a special experience. I've always used Waterman ink and love the smell of it which hasn't changed since I learned to write as a kid and the bottle design that you can rest on its side when the bottle is half empty. However the bottle of ink you showed is very beautiful too.

You should have demo'd the refilling process and showed the nib close up.

  • i just bought both ur pen and a new Parker Duofold in black marble with the 23k gold trim and nib and i like the Duofold lots better its 3 time more but 3 times better and yes both cartridges and the the piston filler its much nicer to the hand its handmade which ive been to the factory and the pelican is not, its cheap feeling and i dropped it on ex and it just broke 2 feet off the ground and it writes like crap so if u WANT A REAL PEN GO TO WATERMAN, PARKER DUOFOLD,etc...

  • wrong. pelikan produces the pelikano and epoch, both of which use ink cartriges.

  • i love watching a video of a pen where you don't write with it.

  • also the screw top is terrible i hated that about my last fountain pen i got 100 ink cartridges on eBay for 12$ and 10 with different colors as a free bonus

  • yes pelican is best but they cost 400$ ^_^

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Where did you get it?

  • I agree, cartriges are RETARDED!

  • I dont use an argument for buying my pens other than that they are good writers. I dont give a toss that my Parker Sonnet cost 250 NZ dollars. It is an amazing writer. call me a pen snob but i think that a pen like mine and yours is worth that kind of money.

  • However, for the most part cheaper fountain pens employ the use of a fountain pen cartridge to store ink.

    Read More: Fountain Pen Cartridge,

    fountainpencartridge . com

  • Are you seriously saying that your concerns are environmental? If you're going for a certain look or something, then by all means, use your antique pens. But don't try to tell me that you're doing it to decrease landfills.

  • I have nothing but praise for the M800. They are solidly made and write like a dream. Check Pam Braun (a.k.a. Oscar Braun) for great deals. You can save some money on whatever model they are offering at the time. I saved $50-80 on this model. They even threw in a complementary bottle of ink and sent the package by express mail. Above and beyond the call of duty, people.

Basic black is nice too. All my pens have solid black barrels if I can get them. Nibs are available in a wide variety of types.

  • "Pelikan is the best in my opinion, umm, well, whatever, it has nothing to do with my opinion, Pelikan's the best"

What a statement. That is an opinion.

I do think the refilling mechanism is pretty cool. Do they ever accidentally "go off" on you (due to operator error, of course!)? Also, the pen looks kind of short. How well does it fit into your hand?

  • Why would u spend that much money for a pen

  • THis type of pen is very comfortablr to write with in most situations. It is a pen that will last for more than a lifetime and be passed down to heirs. It is a "green" pen as it is not disposable. It is a lot like working jewelry in a way. Made with precious metals. (It is a lot like why buy an expensive watch when you can get a Timex? Or why buy a mercedes when a hyundai will get you to where you need to go? Performance and quality are part of the equasion.

  • I agree with other commentators. Why would you pay so much for it? I know I can't afford that. I shouldn't cry if I loose a pen. Fountain pens are nice, and a good pen is nice to have as well, but $350? I realize it will last for a very long time, providing someone else doesn't fancy it more than I do and make it disappear, or (heaven forbid) I misplace it.

I suppose of you have the money: Go ahead. For some people, a 30 Million Dollar home is nothing. (then again, neither is a $16,000 pen)

  • @nappyskater These are apparently worth it.

  • hello. With all respect, what model of fountain pen is this exactly? thanks

  • His pen is a Pelikan, it is the Model 800 in the Souveran line of pens. They cost about $380 or so from most suppliers. They are excellent pens, and there are many craftsmen out there who can even custom-modify them for special writing preferences, if you like.

  • Can you write with it? I watched the whole video and no writing going on there!

  • Pelikan IS the best, really. They are priced reasonably (not cheaply), marketed honestly (they don't hide the prices like Montblanc and others try to do), designed intelligently to last, made from high-quality materials, and extremely pleasurable to use every single day. I have others, and some are nearly as good, but I keep coming back to Pelikans. I only have one other pen that writes as well as any of my Pelikans, my Graf von Faber-Castell, but I can buy 6 high-end Pelikans for 1 Graf.

  • He's so turned on to the Pelikan Fountain pen, (LOL). No, but I just received my fountain pen and it looks lovely. I can't wait to write with it. The question that I have, is what store do you go to get the ink? All i see is the other cartridges. Any suggestions.

  • go to amazon and buy montblank ink i guess cause office depot doesnt sell any at the retail location they might online though

  • I buy a lot of inks from Fahrney's Pens, but also I have used Pendemonium, a small mom-and-pop shop that ships by mail everywhere. Both stores have websites of the same names. I have had excellent results with Aurora ink (if you want black or blue), and decent results with Pelikan. I have tried Noodler's, which seems great too. Most likely, you best ink options will be online, since high quality fountain pen inks are a niche market. It seems that even Amazon has links to various suppliers.

  • Thank you lods321 and SphinctersForever for the great tip on reputable websites to purchase fountain ink. I write a response to lods321 comment, but it didn't post. However, I'm proud to say that I've finally found fountain ink for my Fuliwen and Duke fountain pen at my neighborhood Staples. It really does pay for itself for 10.49 (9.99+tax). It writes like a dream, but I find myself refilling it like once or twice a day. I write a lot. Thanks for your response and "write on".

  • @SophistocatedDivaGuy

Amazon. I found bottles of ink on amazon. Cross ink works well.

  • @tallswede80 Cross ink is actually made by Pelikan for them, Cross don't make ink!

  • @tallswede80 could not agree more a good fountain pen is a glorious thing.

  • @tallswede80

Cross ink is just relabelled Pelikan ink, and is probably more expensive. Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black and Black are good, but the Royal Blue is bad. I suggest Aurora Blue, Visconti Blue or Waterman Florida Blue. In India there's this Camel Royal Blue which is great and most inexpensive, at 1$ you get 3 60ml bottles.

    Regards,

    Anindya.

  • @SophistocatedDivaGuy Another company to check out is "ArtBrown(dot)com."

  • I totally agree, the Pel M800 is probably the best writing instrument ever made.

    Regards, Undersköterskan.

  • I own two Montblanc 146, but my Pelikan M800 is the BEST pen! Its smooth piston filler is amazing! It writes so wet and smooth. No doubt, the best pen ever!

  • good pen but boring design. Nothing beats Sheaffer PFM V!!! Snorkel Delight! Oh the engineering!

  • Know something? Pelikan finally sent me back my M200 that kept skipping, and they did me a favor and changed it from a medium point to a fine point...I still hate the way it writes. But After going through 3 M200 pens, and after hearing how "great" the company is, I'm starting to think it's only the M200, and watching this vid got me wanting an 800 or 1000 now, or a 600...wat's different besides the sizes? are the nibs all excellent writers?

  • Really? I'm shocked... I have an M200 and it is wonderful. It beats my Edison Herald even.

  • As the numbers increase, the girth and length tend to increse. The nibs are all excellent writers, but the M200 only has a steel nib, whereas M400 upwards have gold nibs, which tend to be more flexy and versatile. Your experience seems quite odd - are you filling it properly? Are you holding the nib at the right angle to the page?

  • For my birthday last week, I got an M800 fine point. I actually fell in love with it. It's almost as nice as my Custom 823 or my Montblanc, maybe just as nice. I compared the m200 to it, and although the 200 felt "wetter", the 800 was consistent without skipping, and layed down a perfect line. There really is a huge difference between the 800 and the 200, and not just in size. I think I may get a 400 nib for my 200 pen, but the 200 nib is still garbage to me

  • @TonyDent84

I suggest you try this. Take an 8oz glass of water ( tap is OK but distilled is better). Add one small drop of dishwashing liquid. Mix and take one drop of that into your bottle of ink and mix again.

Try writing with that and see if the pen works better. But be very carefull if you add too much soap, the ink will just come gushing out when you start to write.

  • Nice pen. I got an M200 and Lamy's also.

  • Is that one of those pain in the ass ones where you have to take like a big thing of ink and pull it into the thing? Fucking mess!

    Cartridges FTW! :D

  • it's called a bottle you dunce

  • Uh. Wow. What was the point of that? It wasn't a review, it wasnt a critique, it was just a Pelican ad.

  • cuz i like the look of that pen :o?

  • can u give me the name of this pen? it looks cool and i might try to find it xD i heard u said pelikan M600 ?

  • Comment removed

  • i cant find the penelli pen set anywhere

  • So instead of buying 1000 G2 pens in 15 years, and creating lots of garbage for the landfill, I just buy one pen that lasts forever. Seems like a smarter idea. With the money you saved you could spend your money on your girlfriend. You can't get a girlfriend? Well, we know why.

  • Why couldn't I use the same G2 pen for 15 years? They are refillable.

  • Try reading your first comment again.

  • Comment removed

  • @tallswede80 Cause you recycle ever piece of paper you write on with that pen right Captain Planet?

  • @tallswede80 He cant get a girlfriend. Your the one showing your obsession of a pen.

  • The reason certain people stick with fountain pens is because the right fountain pen can be a pleasure to to write with, and different pen does feels different, and the resultin writin can have a unique character to it.

Secondly, these pens can be work of art, they're kind of like furnitures, you want them for their function but you're want them to look nice too.

It's the same reason why some men prefer to use straight razors to shave instead of eletric shavers.

  • Ouch.

  • Ok.... You like rollerballs, but did you have to write derogatory comments?

  • @milktrey hey each to their own. You can't have a go at someone for liking pens and wanting to write with quality pens.. Some people like cars, watches, computers etc. and tallswede80 (and myself) like pens. Everyone can't be the same

The G2 is a great disposable pen.. but writing with a Pelikan (for me anyway) is much nicer. Perhaps writing with a G2 works better for you.. and nobody is going to have a crack at you.

  • @milktrey pwned.

And say that to people who buy $760 Montblanc 149s....

  • yea man mont blanc is the best. expensive as balls but the best. i've never even heard of pelikan.

  • Yeah that's exactly like saying rolex is the best. Maybe the best ego... but not the best pen...

  • oh no pekekian I's not better then mont blanc I have a Montblacn Slim Line pen and is 1000 better then Pelekian Montblanc is verry Expensiv this is Right. or Montblanc is rally high qwalitiy pen sorry my englisch is not good

  • Does it use cartridges?

  • He sounds like he is having an organism at times when he talks.

  • you mean orgasm?

  • I still like pen made by the japanese called pilot G1. Cost around $1 and its has the best result on paper

  • If anyone here, like me, can't afford a 350$ pen Parker is a good alternative. I have a Parker 45 and it writes beautifully and uses a plunger to pull the ink into the pen. It was around 30 bucks give or take. But yeah i highly recommend it.

  • So there are Parkers that don't use cartridges? Which one?

  • Yeah there are are. I have a Parker 45 and it doesn't use cartridges. It can use cartridges if people really want to but i don't see why anyone would.

  • There are several Vintage one. Almost any vintage pen doesn't use cartridges... the C/C filling system wasn't invented yet.

  • Pelikan might be one of the best European manufacturers, but don't forget about the Japanese manufacturers too!

Sailor, Nakaya, Namiki... just to name a few...

  • Do they have any that take ink from bottles and not cartridges?

  • I think a few might, but the majority use converters, which isn't too bad. Basically a mini-piston filler xD

But they are some VERY high quality instruments, most with handmade nibs. I've heard especially good things about Sailor's Nagahara made nibs. Also, nibs such as that on the Namiki Falcon are among some of the most flexible modern nibs.

  • Custom 823 rings a bell. You can always use a converter.

  • Namiki/Pilot are the BEST. I just hate it that their pens are real sensitive to ink...I can only use Noodler's black ink with my vanishing points, falcon, and custom 823. The rest of my inks skip (except of course pilot inks)...pilot is probably the best company ever, even beating my montblanc and parker pens.

  • I've always wanted a pen like that since i saw that movie.

I wonder how much convincing i'll need for my mom to get me one.

  • I like the cut of your jib.

  • Yeah the M800 is a really good fountain pen. I'd have to say the Lamy 2000 is also a good german. The point is German fountain pens are better than everything else.

  • pelikan is awesome but so is parker, i love parker

  • LOL, your mother had sex with a horse.

Cartier is French. Pelikan is German. Germans do everything better. I buy German.

  • Could you then explain why your pen is less than half the price of this cartier and you claim to have bought pen money can buy?

and btw i think your justification of 'saving the environment' is bullshit

  • Troll

  • Money does not dignify quality.

  • fair enough but when a pen is worth 250% moe than another. Im sure it must have something

  • You can put gold and diamonds on the worst pen in the world.

  • LOL fine

but you have to admit that you are wrong that your pen is not the /best pen money can buy' but less than 200000% cheaper than the best pen money can buy.

    Diamante costs $730,000.

  • I admit nothing.

  • I just want to say that i feel sorry for fat turds who take pride in a pen then have the hide to review them and say 'my pen is awesome, it's the best pen in the world!'

seriously, get a girl friend and use your real pen, but that is likely the reason why you choose to buy pens, cause then pen god gave you is so disappointing

  • "that is likely the reason why you choose to buy pens"

haha, oh yes, it couldn't possible be because I use it to write, now could it?

"cause then pen god gave you is so disappointing"

Only a queer or a retard could turn this into something about sex, so which one are you?

  • Only a moron would watch a movie about a pen and then complain about it. Sad world we live in, but here, it's faggots like you that take it in the rear.

  • "lol please dont kill yourself because you have no friends."

Please don't kill yourself because of how ugly you are. Instead do it because you're a homosexual.

  • whats wrong with being gay? at least im happy with my life, at least i have friends that exist in real life not on the net. I just hope that you find a friend soon that will free u from ur cyber life. god help you

  • So does that mean you are a Sodomite?

  • No you did not say there was nothing wrong with being a Sodomite, you asked what was wrong with being gay. Do you know the difference between a statement and a question?

If you did you research, you'd know that Cartier was a french company. So go soak your head.

  • Smallboy, you are officially gay!

Only 4th graders see a pen and think about a dick

If you think pens and dicks are so similar, I feel sorry for your dick then. Not that girth matters :D

  • lol.

    You are absolutely right.

I ordered a pelikan M215 before I watched your video. I am a bit lazy however could you please tell me what model is yours?

Thanks m8. Nice clip and advises.

  • TALLSWEDE80: Your missing the point which is for you to get 6000 views by the end of this month. Its a bet.

  • Here's something to consider. Buy a lamy fountain pen say a safari for 30.USD. Use the pen to write 10 things you like about the lamy pen and 10 things you do not, be brutally honest. Now wrote ten things that make your favorite fountain pen superior to the lamy. Assign a dollar value to positives you listed for your pen that is equal to the price you paid for your pen. Look at the highest dollar value you have assigned and that entry will be the quality you seek in the next pen you purchase.

  • Or, how about I just enjoy this pen for how beautiful and perfect it is, and not worry about any other pens.

  • EeekMeek;

I found your reply vulgar and demonstrative of a level of intelligence that is inherent and most importantly a waste of my time. Learn to communicate

    without the vulgarities,

  • I write with all kinds of pens, including disposable but I usually end up writing with my fountain pens. (I have like 20 of them) and a whole tray full of ink in my closet :)

  • Nice pen, I'd like a M800 in green one day.

  • by the way, can you post a video of how your's writes? it may be just the nib on the 200 that gives it a mediocre feel to it...i'm not sure if the nibs are different on the higher models.

  • Pelikan is noted for having poor quality control of their XF nibs on ALL of their pens, including this series and the Traditions, (like your 200.)

Do you have the XF, (it might be labeled EF?)

What problems exactly are you having? That might help us point out what's wrong.

I'm sorry you spent your good money on a pen that's not what you expected, it's always a bummer. I've not had problems with higher-end Pelikans, though.

This just goes to show you don't always need to spend so much.

  • Thanks EeekMeep for the sympathy. I actually have a medium nib. It's strange, though, because the pen works great with PR American Blue, but doesn't work good with Pelikan black or PR black. Actually, it sort of does when I'm sitting at my desk, but not when I'm writing on the bed or on the couch (when the book is on my lap, etc) I'm going to test it some more for a few days to see if it's just the way I'm holding this pen (which is slightly smaller than most of my pens).

  • I recommend that you clean the pen:

You can use an ammonia solution, 10 parts water to one part ammonia, or even a 12:1. Flush this in and out of the pen at least six times.

Then clean it out again, at least six fills, with just water; preferably not from the tap.

-Packing oils or waxes from the factory are sometimes encountered and they really screw up flow.
