Something similar happened to me. A friend and I was walking down the street and passed a group of guys. When I walked through, with my fro, a guy blurts out, "I do hair" and his friends all start laughing. I calmly turned to him and asked, "what would make you think I need my hair done?" He then recants and compliments my hair. His friends looked shocked at how calm and happy I was. I told them to have a good night and he then asked for a hug. I hugged him and walked away. They felt so dumb. :)
Those Baby Boomers grew up in a time (not so long ago) when wearing our hair natural meant no access to the "good jobs", "good men", or "good" whatever... times are changing, thank heavens, but slowly. Something similar happened to me. A friend and I was walking down the street and passed a group of guys. When I walked through, with my fro, a guy blurts out, "I do hair" and his friends all start laughing. I calmly turned to him and asked, "what would make you think I need my hair done?" He then recants and compliments my hair. His friends looked shocked at how calm and happy I was. I told them to have a good night and he then asked for a hug. I hugged him and walked away. They felt so dumb. :)

Those Baby Boomers grew up in a time (not so long ago) when wearing our hair natural meant no access to the "good jobs", "good men", or "good" whatever... times are changing, thank heavens, but slowly.
