  • do you know what a tuner is?

  • thank god i found this video cause i was getting bored of double c and standard tuning and found this tuning. its so much fun to play around with! THANKS!

  • dude the heads not on tight enough. you should redo it and put up anther vid. if that head was tuned up right it probly ring like crazy..

  • That looks like a Brian Carver banjo. Nice playing.

  • @migasaguiar Thanks! It is indeed a Carver. Plays great, light as a feather, nice voice.

  • Actually, I think you have a good voice and your pitch is good. The voice is just a little weak. I have the same problem.

Find a place where you don't have to worry about anyone hearing and open up. Sing from the belt buckle and let it roll out over the top of the banjo. That's hard to do while you're worrying about where the next note is on the fingerboard, but with practice you should do fine.

  • nice job!! RIP Charlie Poole

  • @nichmars Thanks!

  • It sounds great! You've really got to have a feel for the tone and tune to play it fretless, and this came together really well. The banjo itself is really pretty - there's just something special about handmade instruments...

  • Thanks! And you're right, there's a certain charm to these little instruments that adds a little to the fun of playing.

I hope Brian, who made this one as well as my gourd, keeps it up. He's got one hell of a future ahead of him.

  • Not bad BDB, thats a real interesting song, and its a great lookin banjo too.

  • Thanks! It's a heck of a lot of fun to play.

  • It's an incredible instrument, and nylon string have a reel interest.

    Very good my friend

    Patrice

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks! I try to use my fretlesses as a barometer to see if I actually know the songs. I figure if I can play it on a fretless I have it down, hehe. :)

I love this little one, it has a lot of character.

  • I like to hear you sing!

  • Well thank you kindly! I harbor no illusions about the quality of my voice, I know it's a work in progress, but you have to try and fail to improve, right?
