  • A couple of Tatras there, they were fantastic cars for their time, shouldn't really be associated with the Lada.

  • I would take lada rather than Reliant Robin !

  • And who saved you guys from driving crap like that? We did, America's capitalist ways gave you great cars among other obvious things...

  • @kernals12 Well, you didn't,Russia crumbled by itself,it started doing that way before the Tchaika was built, because of corruption. The only thing the USA did with comunism is lose a massive war against, cough Vietnam cough.

And if you-re talking about WW2,The Russians killed the nazi's and took half of Europe, meanwhile America spent billions educating Japaneese kids at Yale then sending them back home. That worked out great for you guys.

    Europe still has better cars.

  • @ssobulldog you just can't accept the fact that America saved your ass twice

  • 5:36 - Kādas valsts Nr. ir redzams ? A? :) Esiet Lepni Mani Draugi! :P

  • is this the famous soviet pocket rocket?i sure hope not!didnt they make pocket rocket in the 80s!or 90s!

  • He's the producer of top gear today!

  • you can see elements of the new top gear in this i think its a shame though that andy wasnt a presenter in it or at least had some sort of recurring role in it, id love to have seen him and jezza arguing over a car on the cool wall

  • 5:36 HOLY SHIT... that car has my countries nuber plates(LV)

  • Andy Wilman is a better presenter than Jeremy Clarkson. And the AK-47 is the best piece of Russian engineering ever created.

  • хаха) семера-лимузин в конце ваще убило

  • "The people weren't given any engineering knowledge"....yeah, the audience that's supposed to swallow this is definitely missing something, and maybe even from birth.

  • His style of reviewing cars and use of words is very similiar to Clarkson's.....I wonder who copied who ?

  • @Rmcaw

Clarkson started Top Gear in 89, Willman wasn't until the mid 90s.

  • All people involved in Top Gear and Fifth Gear are children of Thatcher, so ignore their bullshit.

  • Oh please. There was nothing wrong with Soviet cars. As if British Leyland stuff was any better, or British Ford and Vauxhalls of the same era or the junk USA cars of the 70's-80's. Infact I Bet the Soviet stuff was more reliable and all these Skoda and Lada jokes were just ways of stopping people buying Soviet cars. If they are so bad then why are there millions of them still running in eastern bloc, cuba and around the world. Why are old skodas still in rallies.

  • @parrotcar LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @parrotcar

The reason they still use them in eastern-bloc countries is because most cant afford a new car, so they do anything to keep them going. They are like Paykans, except in Europe

  • "It cost me one potato."

    LMAO

  • it says Kapot. which is russian for trunk........not Kaput but w/e commie bashing is always funny *eyeroll*

  • Mmm, how interesting. Looks like this club was called upon again 10 years later for the Communist car segment of New TG

  • Terrible crap (I mean not the cars but the program)

  • @VadiaRotor, to call program a crap and not giving a single reason why is like calling you a queer dipshit just because I like that word.

  • Lada's aren't that bad, think of it this way, they are built for a country that has all sorts of wild climates and shitty roads.

  • @kazimann they are fiats

  • This show is clearly biased and very anti-Russian/Soviet

  • @RodinaZovet, that's because Russia is ruined in every major way, didn't people tell you that?

  • Soviet cars was not so bad for their times

  • The Tatra T603 is far from one of the "most hopeless vehicles of all time".

  • i want me one of them chaikas... kick ass 56 packard

  • well i dont agree about NIVA because niva is awesome on snow

  • Very stupid ideas about soviets... Making fullish talkings with bad english accent in russian...

  • lol, can't stop laughing...

  • Very stupid.

The bigger part of old trash shown here are not Soviet cars.

  • Could someone please tell me which music is that at 6:31?. Thank you.

  • @Randroide Prokofiev - The Knight's dance

  • That GAZ-69 military green jeep looks scary.Ive driven it and its capable of beating land rovers ass on the offroad terrain.

  • Really, why do we need to even have cars? a nice running public transportation system, subways, and bullet trains should be all you need. Much more efficient and cheaper, than some stupid car.

  • screw you karl marx. take your communist manifesto and shove it

  • @serbonbon Cars are fucking wasteful and inefficient.

  • my desire for personal mobility trumps your desire for a "parsimonious and efficient" lala land.

  • @serbonbon Cause your a fucking egomaniac, that's why.

  • relax trotsky. its youtube. no one gives a shit

  • @serbonbon Everyone's gotta have a car; what a fucking joke. Take the train.

  • @Antiks72

No. Not when they (the workers) keep going on strike, or when they keep jacking the fares to the moon...

  • @SeberHusky LOL

  • I would understand the point of horrible cars like this if it meant that everyone could own a car.

But in fact the commies failed to achieve even that.

East Germany for example didn't just have worse cars than the west (and huge waiting lists if you wanted one), they also had less cars per citizen than the west!

I wonder what Karl Marx would say about this, if he lived today....

  • Have you ownd a Lada or any russian cars?

    no

    I got a Lada 21023

it's fucking amazing, it's so much fun in small and old cars, new cars are boring.

I got a Opel Omega 92 also, and i will use the lada more then the opel (The lada is under customizing)

  • and why you didint mentioned that lada is very reliable ? :DDDDD fuck all russian junk.....

  • he would have said it was still better than the west's inequality of happiness because under communism everyone is equally miserable.

  • 6:41 Hang on a second - what the f...k is this man talking about? In soviet times, I reckon, people knew a lot more about cars' insides - they knew them inside out! I live in this damned country and I sometimes get a feeling that majority of people of older generation were f...king automechanics!

  • they aren't so bad... take ladas for instance... they are so primitive as kalasnikov and they are cheap to maintain... at least where I live... (a head gasket costs about 5$, a rear brake cylinder 4$)

  • Whoah at 2:54 I read that as Barak's B1000.

I hope this isn't a portent into the future for GM.

    I kid!

  • love the Tatra 603 a wonderful Cezch Limo ahhh great vid and the Volga et all

  • East European cars are often bad.. Or indestructable, but nothing in between. Still I like them. Maybe it's for their quirkyness.. I don't know. But I think it's their simple, rugged honesty that attracts me somehow.

  • The only good soviet cars are Tatras.

Polonez was not so bad when it first came out - but problem is that you cant make the same car for 30 years.

  • I think the general lay-out of the Velorex seems pretty cool. I wonder what a 21st century version would look like :-)

  • I'd love a tatra. they should have marketed it im europe

  • My grandpa has a zastava it never broke down and he drives it allot, not once it had broken down.

  • @REPOMAN24722 zastava is not a russian car

  • @rade374 I know its a yugoslav car, my uncle lives in slovenia

  • @REPOMAN24722 my father one time, drive volga, for one travel (up to 800km distance). . after that he sleeping 3 days continuously, from tiredness xD xD xD xD LOL LO LOL OO LOLL god damned russian tech ahhahahhahahahahahahah lololo

  • @multiyabadabadoo They are reliable, my uncle drove a lada samara reliable but its electrics were screwed, brake lights were reverse lights and reverse lights were red lights hahahahaha.

  • well I realy like the Skoda octavia, Skoda 110 R Coupe, the GAZ-M20, Tatra 603

    are very cool cars

I would realy like to buy them!!

  • Octavia is a VW Golf with another bodie.. and the chezk republic is no comunist since ages

  • um the chzek republic was Czechoslovakia was comunist and the car I'm talking about is the old skoda octavia.

    Thanks for trying. :-)

  • Ups.. is true.. there was a Octavia in the 60-70s ..

    sorry for my ignorance

  • the final song of the clip?? name? :)

  • Back in the USSR by The Beatles.

  • funny, they were playing that song on the city bus in Vladivostok, and all the passengers were loving it without understanding a single word!

  • @xtopoxx

Wow, that was a serious question...

  • @xtopoxx what a fuck. im from soviet union, and i have never seen somthing like this. It more closed to English cars

  • i agree with this vid. the former ussr cars didnt look good because they werent made to look good. the russians made them as simple as possible and as tough as they could. has anyone been in a village in rural russia? forget Toyota Hilux's and Land Rovers, the only cars that can drive in the russian wiinter are russian made cars

  • "kaput in russian" :D

  • One of the best pieces the old TopGear did.

  • ROFL

If it is made in the USSR,

It just must be bad... ;)

  • AK - 47 works pretty well

  • @Kaloyan87 It does, and Kalishnikov is endlessly ashamed by it.

  • That is wrong you elitist fool! There were quite a few good communist-made cars: Tatra T603, Tatra T613, Wartburg 353, and the GAZ-21.

  • 'Tatra T603, Tatra T613, Wartburg 353, and the GAZ-21.'

Read: Rubisch, Rubisch +, Rubish New and the Rubish Forever.

  • Absolutely awesome- and chekoslovakia (sic0 had a TRULY great car the Tatra kiss my skoda

  • best cars in the world!

  • well the czech Tatra is a truly awesome car- both main v-8 rear engine ones-

which car was it again that made the body panels out of pressed wood pulp/pressboard mixed with resins? not moskvitch, anyone know? 2-stroke... oh yeah, the trabant -trabbies sucked, but not as bad as people think ZIL was just a packard copy, but nice , and the yugoslavian yugo has a undeserved rep, its just a fiat copy, and save for rusting easy , if you maintained them well, were no worse than uk/italy cheapos
