My 8GB DDR3 laptop was fast I could do multiple work on it; however since I delete my temp files my laptop cannot even work on Adobe Lightroom mouse behaves slow motion, and when I open webpage with new tap white page covers my screen and mouse indicates processing is slow, then i have to go task bar and close to the program. I assume I still needed some info where located in temp file because computer has to recognize previous process. Any one has any idea about this what could be solution? .
what the hell are these .TMP folders called something like this (this is the name of one of them and all of those TMP that are on my destkop which are 837 mb) ~PI58E4
My temp files is always full of shit. Everytime u go on any website they put a ton of shit in your temp files. To see what is in there go to tools, internet opitons, beside browsing history click settings, then click view files. I use the windows clean up utility to delete temporary files. I've done it many times and never had a problem. Of course the next day it's full of crap again.
Alright... today I got a virus and its in my temp folder. My darn AV "hide" the infected file so the virus cant be in here! But I cant delete the file... Darn Norton! I think I will soon install Kaspersky 2009.
ccleaner shows up 0 mb taken up by temp files however when i manually browse to my temp folder it says i have 2 gigs worth of the stuff.. any suggestions
I need help, PLEASE someone respond to this! A Trojan is being detected by my Avira every 8 minutes! They are ALL in my TEMP file, so I deleted C:\Windows\Temp. I deleted the WHOLE folder, not JUST the files in it, but the ACTUAL file. But now I'm worried. It's still in my Recycle Bin and my Avira hasn't gone off since I deleted it, but what happens if I empty my recycle bin? Is it going to fuck up my computer? SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER!!!
@Valkier071 No just make a new folder called the folder you just deleted. Make sure all characters are correct. for example if the file was called "TeSt" and you named it "Test" it wouldn't work. You would have to name it "TeSt" for it to work.
I just deleted some monster tmp files in my temp directory, and freed up quite a few gigs... but then firefox on reload just sits there and chugs when I try to open up many of my commonly visited sites (like You Tube, had to use a different browser to come here).
i got a trojan, just one hour ago(im still devirusing my comp) ,that screwed up partition C:/ and i accidentally discovered that i have 4 GB of temp :S...wtf...4 GB?ok i am deleting them now that i know that's safe ;)
some of them you can't delete, just go to google type in "Malwarebytes" than click on the 3rd option, it is a sophisticated program that wipes and cleans all viruses on your computer
Hey, you were interviewing that ol' man who broke that Edison cylinder wax disk on Tech TV. Felt sorry for that ol' man. That can't be good, you told him. Rub it in a little.
Programs list then different so that you just don't check delete all temporary files. Technically I'd consider a recycle bin filea temp file because if you are sure you want to delete it it will only be there temporarily. I along with many people I know shift + delete or just clear the bin after each use. I guess it is preference though.
isn't it called the 'recycle bin' and not just the 'trash bin' because when you delete a file, it's not actually deleted, but rather 'recycled' into free space that the operating system can use?
Or you can just be sure form the get go and hit shift + delete when the file is highlighted and it goes bye bye. No recycle bin. A lot of people didn't know you could.

@Valkier071 what you need to do is to delete the infected files, then empty the recycle bin.
if the trojan is still there install a better anti virus. if it still is there a reinstall of youre operating system is the only thing to do.

Chris, windows doses not list recycle bin files are temporary files, even temporary internet files are listed seporatly.
when you get Gigs of temp files it usualy from selfextractors contaning installers beeing shut down befor the actual installer is shut down.

It's purly for retriving your files if you actualy don't want to deleted them.
The operating system is not alowed to write to the spece before you actualy delete them/empty the recycle bin.
You could call it the "are you realy realy shure bin" :)
