I work for a big corp. Salvage yard and its sad what they are doing to the small mom and pops yards

Kinda sucks, it only takes me 2 minuted to get there and now its closed..

so what happened.......the owner die and the family did not want to take over the business........and sell the land?

@inkey2 This is a dying genre of business. Legislation for clean environments, the many models and brand names and constantly changing technology makes the interchangeability of parts much less than before, the advancement of urban sprawl (nobody wants a salvage yard in their neighborhood) Cost of running big trucks, employees, insurance, taxes, property taxes, times have changed and so goes this way of life. Few salvage yards remain and those that do are going corporate in a huge way.

I have bought several engins and parts from there over the years when i lived in NW indiana..
