Kanjanjin. I am glad that you get it , we are an entertainment group, and we are not trainng real world martial arts. That our goal is for entertainment.

I am jsut curious, what does what we do have to do with your heritage, or are you jsut saying that you are happy that he spent time learning swordmanship in china. Because otherewise, swordsmanship is not isolated in Asia. I myself am a skilled fencer and knowledgable in medival swordmanship. There area variety of sword disiplines beyond Asia

Now you have never responded to my request for information on these injuries. But honestly children ahvebeen playing wit hsticks as swords for centuries. To blame us you must blame every single film, cartoon out there. Films that i am sure were an insiration to you that started you one the path. Again our fun is not a mockery to your hard work so do not take it as such.

What we do is for entertainmment. To see a child's eyes light up when they see a fight, and you meet them. It is a great feeling. Bart of showmanship is showing off. we are not a martial arts group we are an entertainment group. This is not about defence it is about fun.

Hi. I can understand your concern of safty, but safty is one of our primary concerns in the goup. Actually it is rule numebr one.

Sage I can understand your frustrations. Martial Arts is a large part of your life, and you must feel that what we did is a direct mockery that you spent some much time and effort mastering. But honestly we are performers, and never sold outselves as martial arts teachers. To be annoyed at the twirlling we do, you would have to be annoyed at movies as well .

Speaking as a member of New York Jedi. This is not a martial arts group, this is a stage combat group. This is for the stage only. Although the people who started the group consist of well-experienced martial artists and performance artists and even professional stuntmen, this group is for the stage only.

As far as being careless with new students, this is absolutely not true. Each new student is under strict discipline from the veterans. We want people to have fun, not get hurt.

I have watched Jedi group here of 3 years with same look I watch a circus or movie. Entertaining only. And yes it is for theater only there is no form of self defence here at all.

While thesagebrushkid had no right to bitter you, you have done most worse by using bad language. Is this what your class teach? Is this the Jedi way? He is concerned for children hurting themselves. Tell people to use brooms is dangerous. I commend this man for honoring my heritage and to you to have fun.

Your point about it being for theater is exactly so, NY Jedi and all sister groups are set up to perform on stage. We do learn a bit of self defense from the classes, but that is just to better our choreographed fights. Children have always used sticks and broom sticks as swords... I know I used sticks as swords with my friends when I was younger...

So, yes... if you get a chance, also read the other comments posted to this video, since they have been in the group longer!!

If I did not live across the country I would love to MEET your bunch. Telling people to use broom handles to practice is the most unwise thing I have heard. You guys are so willing to be part of the media but you could not care in the least of the news-posts that have been posted of kids and adults wanting to be part of your group and getting hurt.

Sword fighting is not about making it look pretty in a parade. Its about defending yourself. Twirling a sword does NOTHING but show off.

I know these people now and they WOULD care if people were hurting themselves, but they never said to beat your friends with a broom stick. NY Jedi and all sister branches are purely stage combat groups, so it really is about making it look pretty. ^_^

You should read the other comments posted to this video (magnius and evel) because they have both been in the group longer than I have and they really have some good input.

Source your info, and note that several of our people are high level martial artist or teach/own schools. Moreover, they aren't trying to teach fightingwe make it clear this is CHOREOGRAPHY. Much like any other fight choreo, we aren't responsible for idiots trying things they oughtn't.

Oh, I'm sorry, did I break your arguments? And if you wanna prove that "none" of us are sword fighters, come by and meet the number of black belts and sifu's we have.
