Apparently there was one event where the ravens did flee from the tower. Following the Blitz of WWII all but two of the ravens died of shock from the bombings. After the war ended, one of the remaining ravens, "Mabel" fled from the tower and a few weeks later, its mate "Gabe" flew away to find her leaving the tower empty. Since this event occurred at the time the British Empire was being dismantled in 1946, this supported the myth carried by the ravens of the tower
I was taken aback by just how smart these birds are, I think more people show appreciate an interesting aspect of British history

Neat video. I saw the ravens at the Tower a few months ago and they definitely rule the roost there! Fantastic birds!
