  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • Yeah, at 8 in the morning having been up all night watching rare Pulp songs this video absolutely blew my mind!

  • The version of the song in this video is slightly different from the one I got on CD. I wonder why. I think I like this one better.

  • If they released this now it'd be MASSIVE.

  • Probably the best pulp song ever.

  • Hush...keep very still...For the strangest things are about to happen...

  • Pulp at its best!!!

exchange student at a French art school , lonely as hell and bought myself a present..pulp cd's!!

  • @wana053 - That's the same CD I've got - and it's the legend that is Rolf Harris saying that! (About the Stylophone).

  • What a fuckin' awesome song!! I love it..

  • @Leisurelydinner , I thought the same thing, this Song is EPIC! What an amazing band, they were perfect!

  • wow!

  • JARVIS COCKER IS GOD

  • he reminds me of Ian Curtis in parts of this video

  • ART!

  • One of the most brilliant songs from early work of Pulp, but… this video is… ehm, not so good.

  • This songs says so much. To anyone who has any depth or has made mistakes, it heals the wounds!!! : )

  • Amazing, just amazing song. I love Jarvis and everything what he done. Great lesson for young musician.

Yeah, I hear a little bit of Ian in this song. But- Jarvis` life is so many happier than Ian`s. And I feel it in this music.

  • ian curtis vibes in this tune

  • This song is 18 years old today! Horray!

  • Mola!

  • he will remain in historry with that songthats a fucking genious

  • best stylish song ever , andy warholl will be roud about it ,time of my life i think it came so soon

  • COOL

  • i love Pulp........ and Jarv was sex God...

  • gods!

  • i like the version on the separations album better than this one

  • interesting... I think they both have their moments of thrill...

  • What barlenzo said. Music, lyrics, act, Jarvis, history, biography, every single thing about them is epic! Love them <3 This song also, of course. It's not my fav one, but it's still fucking great <3

    @ grahamlyons2004

I LOVE their early stuff. 'Seperations' is my fav albume, I adore 'Freaks', etc. I also love 'DC', etc. But early stuff are far more special and have real Pulp sound, before those efforts to be more ... huge masses crowdable :giggle:

  • yeah. i like their pre 'his n' hers' era.

  • its such a great song...easily..

  • Favorite band ever, I think its because the lyrics are melancholy and true and the music slightly epic, so much going on.

  • Love this early stuff in the same way i love Jarvis' solo work.

    He's a pure genius.

  • magnificent

  • I remember buying Countdown when Pulp released common people thinking it was their latest album...I have yet to meet another living person who likes their early stuff but I love it....legendary GF, Master of the Universe etc....Jarvis is so talented

  • me too, like their early stuff more!

  • @grahamlyons2000 I love their earlier stuff too :D I adore Anorexic Beauty.

  • @grahamlyons2000 There's a messageboard at baritaliadotactiveboarddotcom if you want to talk to people who also like the early stuff.

  • @grahamlyons2000 Separations is my fave album by far, u are not alone, LOL

  • @grahamlyons2000 - I've got quite a lot of the early materials - It, Freaks and the Countdown CDs from 1996. It's a mixed bag - some truly excellent material and some moderate songs. But generally very good!!

  • This is brilliant.

I've been listening to their countdown 1983-92compilation in my car :)

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

  • A wonderful song from their last 'really' big album, 'Separations'. Great band...

  • Wow!

finally something from the early pulp!

    I don't know how I didn't see before

Good to see this early old stuuf here

and yeah! Jarvis looks like Ian there

Great! 'coz I love both of them ^^

    hehe

    thanks for upload it :)

  • ROCK

  • I did a cover clip of countdown, but I like the outro so much that I put it in place of the chorus.

  • He look like Ian Curtis

  • i grew up with this song, and it peaked when i was 17 :D

    <3 Pulp

and indeed timeless as someone wrote earlier

  • This song is timeless baby

  • sounds very eigthys but is so nice to listen

  • It Sounds 70s actually:D Pulp ( or jarv ) hate the 80s. This is when Pulp were moving from 60s style garage to 70s style pop:D

  • i mean late seventy"s but you are rigth it seem you are a harcore fan

  • Great song :) Yay Jarvis.

  • wow, i had no idea there was even a video for this song! thank you for uploading this.

  • Anyway, which album is it from??? I've never heard this song before, but it seems that it's from the pre-His'n'Hers period ... When they were infamous ...

  • From Separations (1992), in my opinion probably their best proper album ^^

  • Actually, if you want the be precise, this version of Countdown wasn't on Separations, but on the compilation/best of Countdown 1992-1983 (Disc 1).

  • Oh, didn't think of that. True. This is the single version :>

  • It sucks that they never achieved sucess in the U.S.

  • Well, Pulp was a britpop band, they simply couldn't be understood in the USA, they sing about very british things, about british suburbian lives ... And maybe they are too subtle for an average american listener, you know, their songs are not like "oh come on, I want your body baby, you turn me on, I like the way you mo-o-o-ooove." It's not like Beyonce or The Pussycat Dolls and these american things ...

  • Oi, I'm American. I mean, not all American music is awful... But a significant portion of it is. I love Britpop and I virtually listen to all Brit music anyway, so I don't know what's wrong w/ me. Maybe I just have common sense ;-)

  • Fantastic! One of the best Pulp songs ever!

  • Me encanta esta canción! qué buenos Pulp!

  • This is SO awesome! Thank you!!!!!

  • by the way, I was looking for My Legendary Girlfriend...I've seen the video before, but...what happened? I didn't find it anymore...

  • I think it had the mtv logo and was taken down

  • Wow I didn't even know this existed!! I feel like I'm 16 again :)

  • woooow! jamas habia visto ese video...es una reliquia!! Buena cancion...obvio, si es de Pulp!

  • great stuff never seen this before

  • i cant believe that i found this video here, that´s coollllllllllll thanks

  • Thanks you so much for posting this! It's new to me, and I am such a Jarv obsessive.

  • Me too :) Good, isn't it?

  • My god, I love this song...

  • Excellent! Think I've seen them all now! This one certainly is better produced than the Legendary Girlfriend one.

  • that was fooooking amazing! the best pulp vid i have seen! i have never seen this! the song is great and one of my favs!
