I have played that card game too. However, I was fortunate enough to play that game with a debit card rather than a credit card. Both card games end badly. When you don't have a written budget, you wind up feeling 2 inches high while your parents pay off your overdraft fees at the bank & it is not the first instance that they did so! I listened to "Total Money Makeover" on CD last year & it changed my life. I no longer have overdrafts.
ok im 16 im in a jrotc class (for those who dont know what jrotc is its junior reserve officer tranning corp aka milt school) our lt col had a fincial advisor come and we did the 13 week program and lets just say im going to be pretty set as long as i live to how dave tought me plus the other info ive gotten from scussesfull friends of my family thx dave
I went from being a student and living off of about 10k/year to working and making 70k a year. Thanks to Dave, I'll have my 70k student loan paid off in about 3 years. Oh, and my husband and I will only have our house payment left after that and our cars will be paid off well before then. Without this financial guidance, I would have a lovely new car and the government would be enjoying my additional few thousand dollars in interest from my loans! Thanks Dave!

other than people who have been in debt from medical bills.......the type of people that get into debt like this are not the type that will change their spending habbits. I know many people that have to go out and buy something everytime the slightest thing goes wrong in their life.....it's like a reward they think they deserve
I am in week 5 of it right now and Dave Ramsey has explained so much about credit card companies, debt consolidation companies, and just the staggering statistics that Americans are just so far in debt that they cannot see how to get out of it. I was skeptical at first, but after the second week, I am sold on it. Spending about $100 for something that is changing my life, my behavior and my dreams is well worth it. The man is a genius and its a 13 week course, not just a 2 hour seminar...
Being a financial advisor is his JOB. He should charge because it's what he does for a living. I'm sure if you were in his position you would want to earn money every year, right? Haha.
@plasterofparisify Basically, he teaching us to use cash instead of the plastic and of course he and majority of us know to buy a coffee pot instead of starbucks...like we have time to brew coffee at 4 in the morning when some start shift at 7 or 8 am.
Problem is, most people can't, don't or won't do it "on their own." If they did, so many people wouldn't be in so much trouble. Many need help to know where to begin, how to proceed and enouragement to keep going. Even if you don't agree with him, he's helping a lot of people. He's a "good old boy" - don't think he claims this IS rocket science.
normal is broke, and too many of us are broke. sub my channel and break the cycle

If people learn only one thing, DON'T use credit cards for entertainment, then they'll be much better off.

Dave Ramsey makes a service available, so that is just the "American Way" and YOU are not forced to take this class.

Most people can't do it on there own, otherwise they wouldn't be so far in debt.
That guy in the coffee shop has GOT to be dave's brother.
