Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
It's more like "sbeak your bind"... but I think it was just perfectly fitting to have the downed fighter talking about not backing down. If anyone can say that, it's him. Kudos to the Big Blue.
I was genuinely impressed that IBM didn't cater to the PC stereotypical brown kid.
They did have Henry Lewis Gates (professor at Harvard) saying "Collecting data is only the first step toward wisdom, but sharing data is the first step toward community", and I don't think the kid represents the "Elite" either. The kid is an amalgam of all those sources. There is even a (White) plumber and a brain damaged (Black) boxer there. It's only fair the face should befit a system named after Linus.
Microsoft has a thing called "Singularity"... problem is they don't understand that a Singularity already exists, and is growing all on its own, organically... its called GNU/Linux.
It is really sad, but if we really wanted to as a global community, we could pretty much become the world of Star Trek in the next 25 - 50 years instead of 500. No money, no taxes, no one is better then anyone else. I only hope that it happens in my lifetime. Our only job would be to better ourselves and to be all that we can be as a global society. This pretty much sums that all up, "Collecting Data Is Only The First Step To Wisdom, But Sharing Data Is The First Step To Community"

the Linux kernel was made by Linus Torvalds, from Finland. I think that was the symbolism they were going for.

Sadly, we both know that the only way that will happen is....a great war. A war to end all others. Were atleast 70% of humanity dies.
And that could happen....soon.
