  • I have the LP and cd versions of this set.I grew up with this set in the mid 60s,I learned these symphonies, with score, with this set,it still captivates me.Search this set out on Amazon or Ebay, you wont be disappointed.I have just played no.s 1 and 2 on LP, in mono, but you would think they were stereo. One of the R/DIgest` successes. The LPs are now hard to find,a 1st pressing set recently sold on Ebay for just over £160.

  • dear zmov1 thanks I was curious about this very recording of one of my favourite symphonies, after the Funeral March I'll form my position is a Ferrai among the racehorses

  • It is even too slow for Disco people!!!!!

  • Just TOO damn fast for my taste

  • Of course, this is taken from the Reader's Digest vinyl set "The Nine Symphonies of Beethoven" from which I learned them all, making these performances true favorites of mine.

  • Wow! This performance is a real event, not the usual museum embalming, but a fiery, spontaneous sounding edge-of-the chair experience! Rene Leibowitz may be one of the most underrated and unknown conductors of all time.

  • Exactly. That's why I'm loading up YT with his work. Glad you enjoyed it.
