To be honest i'm getting really sick of this debate as it is going nowhere. I strongly suggest you go to uni and take some history with an open mind. Diplomacy works if its done fairly, your example of Palestine shows this well, if one side gets a blatantly unfair deal then yes diplomacy doesn't work, however if for example 2 ethnic groups are left to slaughter each other than the hatred between them will only strengthen.

The Gulf War was about kicking Saddam out of a Kuwait, the country he had invaded and was authourised by the UN due to the West's heavy reliance on oil. Use some empathy and think how you'd feel being an Iraqi when a massive foreign power starts bombing your country with apathy for whether the targets hit are military or not. The US invasion has caused over 600, 000 Iraqi deaths that wouldn't have otherwise occured. Bush learned the lessons of 9/11. Saddam did not and kept on paying cat and mouse games when all he had to do was provide veriable proof to the inspectors. The inspectors in 2003 said Saddam had not provided verifiable proof. Saddam was given a fair chance to come clam, many times and failed. We're not going to keep 200K troops stuck in Kuwait for another year to give the inspectors more time. The 100 degree temps were days away.
