Sadie Lunie - I want you to know that I showed this video today in a presentation at my law school on decriminalization of prostitution. I believe that if sex-workers continue to speak up for themselves society will eventually have to listen. Great work, and keep up the fight!
Great Job, Sadie! Two thumbs up for the SF sex workers who raised their voices for their rights. Unfortunately this is a society that sees anything to do with sex as disgusting and evil. Prostitution is not a crime.
It is beyond me how Gavin Newsom can approve of San Francisco being a "sanctuary city" for illegal aliens, and be so involved with Prop 8 for the gays, but turn his back on the sex workers.
When is San Francisco going to wake up and fire that opportunistic, lame excuse for a Mayor???
CIA: 14,000 trafficked into US each year, 80% for sexual slavery.
Capt. Pardini of SFPD: "we wouldn't be able to investigate prostitution or locate these folks who are victims of trafficking. It's rare that we get a call that says 'I'm a victim of human trafficking.'"
Prop K would also prohibit using racial profiling, a tool in investigating brothels advertised as Asian massage parlors.
But the public defender says they would be able to investigate trafficking.
Why do you think it is rare that people get a call about trafficking? Because those who are in a position to report trafficking, clients and sex workers, are criminalized.
Actually, Cathylemons, you should do YOUR homework. Trafficking is not "highest" in New South Wales Australia, or in New Zealand, where prostitution is decriminalized. There is trafficking in Amsterdam. There has been an increase there ever since the early 90's, ever since the USSR was dissolved and the borders opened. Trafficking has to do with the Russian Mafia, not with legalization. They have a much better record at dealing with trafficking than we do in SF.
I'm an x prostitute and it sucked! My life was hell and the truth is making it legal just ain't the answer--you will be turning over the money and regulation of the INdustry to the government--and they become the pimp. And do your homework--trafficking is highest where legalization exists.

Criminals should expect to be caught and punished, not admired and coddled. You're not an artist. You're a prostitute and drug addict.
There is no dignity in being a criminal, and we won't pretend otherwise.

We would. If anybody good would run against him. This dickwad has run SF into the fucking ground, and nobody did anything about him.

Good no more political sex scandals in San Franscisco. If prostitution is legal, men cannot be demonized for hiring prostitutes since it's legal.
