Bloodrayne 2 was still mediocre in terms of animations and graphics, despite gameplay was much better. I find Betrayal the best game overall, except for the history, which is practically nothing, and the fact that Rayne looked too cute and animish in comparison with her real herself.

I was not sure if anything good could come up from this IP, but these guys actually made an awesome looking fun to play Hack and Slash. Funny thing is that I can't really recommend this game for those who are fans of the first two games.

The gameplay is also top notch and it's addicting. The music is great, levels are well designed, lots of challenge, etc.
Sprites of chars are good, but animation is crappy. Plot is shit. No intro/no ending movie. Roughly speaking - 3.5 locations for 16 levels. Character control is not sharp at all, repetitive battles, boring bosses, looking like they are cut off the paper and more. Seriously - go play Shank if you want more or less decent side-scroller that looks similar.

It's throwbacks like these that I appreciate PSN store. Never played SotN but loved action platformers just the same. Ya I just bought this game yesterday and i'll have to say its a fun hack n slasher. the music keeps me sucked into it. Feeding is definitely one of the most important parts of the game since you can't block and if you wanna be cheap you can jump on a large group of peoples heads over and over till their dead. I'll still say this game is kinda difficult but really fun

Why bother with stylistic artwork if the framerate is gonna be choppy and the animations are gonna suck? This looks like a real 3rd tier downloadable game masquerading as a good one. Shank cost me 5 bucks and SotN cost me 3.99, the two games this crappy one is emulating for half the price.
Considering where the series went after the first game, I'm totally down for this new style. It could be a hell of a lot worse; though I do wish it would be like SoTN, even though I know it won't happen : p

well i guess it realy is straying far from the original concept, but i have never played any of the bloodrayne games andim not a fan. but i have seen this kind of stuff happen to some of my favorite franchises and with a game like this (it hasnt been around since ps2) if you don't buy it they wont make more, butif you do buy it all they'll make is this... which is apparantly bad O_O

Why bother with stylistic artwork if the framerate is gonna be choppy and the animations are gonna suck? This looks like a real 3rd tier downloadable game masquerading as a good one. Shank cost me 5 bucks and SotN cost me 3.99, the two games this crappy one is emulating for half the price.

@leon89460 'Xactly! It isn't trying to be a sequel. People really need to be more open and receptive to fun little projects to help develop the Playstation Network more. Expand it into something greater by having these fun fillers for bigger franchises so that we can get some cool exclusives. I don't mean exclusives specifically for PSN--dislike when any console does that. it's like taunting, and lame businessmanship--but just as a download exclusive.

It's by WayForward, so it will not suck. These are the guys who even made a decent platformer out of Barbie (not great, but hey, it's Barbie).
Sorry haters, but ya gotta understand, 2D games are for real gamers, the ones who actually grew up with this stuff. 2D gameplay is like an acoustic instrument, forming the true backbone of what good gaming is made of. If ya can't give it a chance, then ya best head on back to Dusty Brown Polygon Land and roll the dice with the other kids. See ya!

Definite Castlevania inspiration with the spikes and even the end boss crawling in the shaft. I dont think it will play like it, but Konami should be watching how well this game sells and just give us a bloody 2d Castlevania already.
