When slavery ended, these "light-skinned" blacks started with an advantage over the others. This led to light-skinned people becoming the better-educated, wealthier segment, the leaders, of the black community.

Even today, many black men still consider lighter black women more attractive than the darker ones. That can cause the darker girls to feel jealous toward and resent lighter girls, and even to behave like the ones who beat you up.

If you look at history in the U.S., slaveowners often had sex with their slaves. Sometimes, this was rape; other times, it was more consensual. If any children resulted, it was likely the slaveowners would feel more affectionate toward them than the other slaves because they were related. So mixed-race people were given better jobs and even sometimes taught to read on the plantation.

I REALLY LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! I have gone through the same where "BLACK" girls would pick fights with me cause I was according to them a "BLACK" girl and not mixed with surprisingly long hair. Yes I got the guys cause of my hair and the "BLACK" girls hated it! Plenty of fights! I love your cute baby pictures, reminds me of my daughter when she was a baby, everybody thought she was not mine either. She looked Chinese and people would snicker comments of me steeling her from a Chinese woman!
